Just got mine today, black dial. I am a Seiko fan, a Citizen fan, but I must say this Orient is legit! This watch puts the SKX & Pro-Master to Shame!!!! Bezel is like butta' so smooth and satisfying. I have to say this watch is a 10 out of 10 for me. Great service as well Mark.

I don't mean to necro a somewhat old video, but I got this watch (blue) a week ago for just $315 from an AD! Such value and quality! Movement, sapphire glass, power reserve, excellent bezel action, and no quality issues with alignment unlike my samurai and turtle. This is a great find, thank you Mark!

I've been trolling your site patiently waiting to see the new Triton, ever since you mentioned it's "coming soon" availability several weeks ago. The watch gods smiled on me as I discovered them Tuesday evening. Immediately ordered the blue variant. You shipped it today - can't wait! Thanks, Marc.

Marc, this video was exactly what I needed to make a decision to get the Triton, and in the 2L variant, and has everything I was looking for. The comparison to the SKX is what tipped the scale for me. Thanks for the assistance via emal, I'll be placing my order soon!

Got one in blue from LIW. Beautiful watch, feels great on wrist. The reserve gauge, top tier movement and solid end links, convinced me to spend a little more than I would've on the Mako 2 or Kamasu.

Couldn't wait and bought one before you started stocking. Just blown away with the quality of this watch at this price. Never could warm up to the M-Force and could not justify the OSD but the Triton seems to combine the best of both. Feel this watch is a winner and one of the best releases that Orient has done. Hoping that Orient will release an orange dial Triton next, finished like the orange Ray. Same tint of orange with black outlined hands and indices. I have Seiko Sumos and feel it is a toss up between the two. Just a great watch!

Thanks Marc, I spent considerable amount of time looking for my 1st auto. It began through an article dealing with the Bambino, then I saw plenty of watches (dress watches particularly). I really love the Hamilton Open Heart in blue with the bracelet in ostrich, but feel a bit uncomfortable to spend approx 1k€ yet.
I'm quite often working in casual / "chic" casual with chinos, jeans, blazers and shirt and it seems this watch (in black) would really pairs (btw I love your recos with the 5 alternatives bracelets, notably the Hirsch (robby)).

I wish this watch soon comes with a Pepsi Bezel! Just like with the Mako, I feel that the Pepsi Bezels suit Blue Orients the best. Thank you for the video. I'm very sad to see the M-Force and Saturation Diver lines disappear. I'm not sure that three Triton models will really replace all those wonderful, now discontinued, watches. I have two M-Force watches (Bravo and Beast) and I love them. I was really thinking about adding a Saturation Diver but now that it has been discontinued, I'm sure that prices will skyrocket and it was a pretty expensive watch for my meager budget to begin with. The Triton is in my budget though so I will seriously consider buying one.
The Saturation Diver being discontinued explains why I did not see very many of them available for sale on a recent trip to Japan. (I was specifically looking for one during my trip.) Thanks again for the video!

Talk about the crown from other reviews that are not selling and claim the crown has quality issues and play. Just to point out there is no abnormal play on crown. There is a purpose build pivot point to compensate the 4 o'clock position. Axle, seals no play and not affected and it screws in out perfect. It is a positive design making the feel better. Another small added perfection not negative like some are putting it out.

This watch is BEAUTIFUL. it's what I wished the skx would be. IMO hands - spot on, movement - fantastic, sweep - smooth, bezel - nice (taking Mark's word here though). Case design- love the curves (hence the skx comparison). It's a real divers watch so I understand the heftiness, but oh how I wish it were a mm thinner in all directions. Just a tad too big for my skinny wrists 😭. Will be trying it out though. If it doesn't look odd in person, will be purchasing

Will admit up front, I am a shameless fanboy of this watch. I like it so much, I have all three...the "Trinity". Fit / finish / build quality is very high. Confirming Marc's comments re the movement, it is superb. Each watch will maintain within 2-3 spd. Everything just "works". I prefer Orient blue divers but with the Triton, the two tone "Gold" RA-EL0003B just may be my favorite. The gold edge bezel and accents on the hands and indices adds just enough "pop" to make the watch standout without being blingy. Believe Orient was wise to use the standard brushed bracelet. Like the Orient Classics, these watches will grow on you. Consider them to be my favorite purchase of 2018.

I’m having a really hard time choosing between this beautiful Orient Triton or the Sieko Sumo. Both watches really do it for me. I’m just torn on which one to buy first. I did buy a Sieko Padi Samurai and I absolutely love it!

    • @goldenrool8018
      @goldenrool8018 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I have both Sumo and Triton. Which is better is not a simple answer as both watches win on certain points. The Sumo case design has to be seen and handled to be appreciated. It is special with its flowing lines. For an intermediate-to-large size diver, the Seiko is very comfortable to wear. And, it has the 6R15 movement. The Triton is more of a conventional diver design. Believe it wins on fit and finish. The movement may not have a 50 hr reserve like the Sumo but you have the power meter. Orient wins on the sapphire crystal and prefer the Orient bracelet (though both have same stamped clasp with driver extension). Lume is a draw, both are outstanding. Sumo is proven design. Overall, I feel the Orient is a better balanced design. And, if it is a blue dial you are wanting, Orient, hands down.

Hi Mark, my name is Fernando and I have recently purchased a Phoibos Reef Master after watching a review video.
Unfortunately after receiving the watch I realised the bezel was misaligned and it was way off on accuracy running at + 56 s a day.
After having the watch for 7 days (purchased directly from Phoibos website) I wrote to their customer centre to notify the defects and was honestly expecting first for a replacement or second for the watch to be shipped back and properly fixed, however the first response from Phoibos was that there was nothing wrong with the watch, I was probably looking at the bezel from a angle and also that I didn’t know how to adjust the watch. I was really surprised with their response and told them to look at the video I did on their Facebook page and they came back saying that they couldn’t see anything wrong. I did a second video showing better the misaligned bezel and had a bunch of comments saying they it was clear on the first video but still, I tried again.
After many emails and videos sent to Phoibos they in the end told me that I could try to force a bit of back play on the bezel to realign and still insisted that I should try to set the watch again for accuracy (I am a watch collector for 20 years, feeling like the stupidest person in the world at that moment)
But if I really wanted it looked at that I could send the watch back.
As last, unfortunately if you have any problems with your watch you have to send it to China and can not declare its value as more than 30 dollars or it won’t get through China customs and also that they have no responsibility if anything happens so in summary if my or your watch doesn’t get back to them you only receive 30 dollars back from your insurance. Yes, what to do with that money.
I just think it would be nice to let people know my story so that they can think twice before o buying a Phoibos or they might end up with 30 dollars
    Kind regards
    Fernando

I prefer Orient dive watches to the more popular Seikos , I feel like you get a lot more for your money as well

Hi Marc, great video! I was wondering what the beat rate is for this movement. I am unfamiliar with Orient. My eyes have been fixed on a baby turtle, but this is a great looking diver alternative, I love the power reserve (even if it would have looked better swapped with the logo). Thanks for your help making my future purchase optimal!!

I love this one!! How would you compare the bezel action to a seiko one? They do not feel the best especially on skx so i am interested because that is annoying fault

Love it APART from the power reserve meter! Not needed, but if you have to have one, make it symetrical.

A few questions that were not answered in the video or on the website:
    1. Bracelet, push pin or screws?
    2. Bezel insert, aluminum I assume?
    3. Gold coating on 3rd watch, PVD?
    Thanks!

      1) pins, looks like pins and colors
      2) aluminum
      3) PVD gold.

    Just received this beautiful watch!
It is my first diver, when would you suggest to do a maintenance?

    • @jimfeldman4035
      @jimfeldman4035 4 ปีที่แล้ว

That's going to be a tough call. The only maint that would be needed is a full strip/clean/lube/reassemble when the lube has dried and if you're really diving it, o-rings around the stem/crown and case back every few years. The cleaning could easily be half the cost of the watch (assuming it's done correctly and not just dipped). Assuming you keep the crown screwed down unless needed for winding and setting, I would think somewhere between 7-10 years (for overhaul) and it may be cheaper to swap in a new movement if available. You could pop the bezel off periodically to clean up in there, although I've done the same thing by just working the bezel in soapy water.

Hi Marc, and thanks for the video. About the movement - Like that found in the Ray ll, it has 22 jewels, a 40 hour reserve, hacks and is hand-windable, and has the same stated accuracy. Unlike the Ray ll, this watch has a power reserve indicator. My question is (and it's a bona fide question, not an argument) - what makes the 40N5A movement in this watch superior to the F69 in the Ray ll? Thanks.

Thanks for comparing the size to the skx. Any chance on you doing a watch and learn on orient movements. What makes this one a super high grade. Just the power reserve?
