I can’t touch my GCC. I can’t hand him a treat, he bypasses the treat and bites. He is target trained but if he steps up on my hand he bites my hand. I’ve had him 6 1/2 years. He was a rehome. The owner sold him to a pet shop because he was mean. I’m glad he understands english as he’ll generally do what I ask him. I use a small T-perch to carry him around. He is fully flighted too and has tree stands to go to. I let him out for hours each day.
This is the first time I've heard some of the negatives of toe holds! I use it with my ekkie around the house just to keep her steady and make her feel more solid, but I would never use it as my only line of defense outside. Like you said, all it takes is one solid bite and no matter how great my determination, instinct is gonna make me let go haha. It's a handy tool to train, but like you said, some birds are so spooked by it that it can do more harm than good.
Absolutely. Like we mention, some birds can be placid and forgiving. But in our consulting practice, using a toe hold as a restraint to keep the bird put very often leads to biting
He's an absolutely giant. Seeing how large his feet are on your hand really put the hys size in perspective

Boy! What a big MF beak that is. It would take me a long time to get close to that. Hell naw.

What do you guys feed your parrots daily? Diet is very controversial and am always curious what others feed?
Bananas, roasted peanuts, chickpeas, pears, sunflower seeds, raisins, potatoes, broad beans, pumpkin seeds and nekton-s
This few day bite me last no bite why
