Wow!!! Thank you so much for that! I have an African Grey and have been bitten several times doing the heard scratch! I do have one question, though. Sometimes, he does put his head down for me to scratch, and then the next second, he goes to bite me. 😢 I automatically use the finger to ask him if HE wants a scratch. And again, sometimes he puts his head down for me and then a second layer...ouch! I will put your advice to practice, though! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! 🙏🙏🙏🕊🕊🕊

What a good bird! Fun to see some of the same challenges we're facing. My favorite is the agency--our Grey Ecco definitely does training with us on head scritches, and every time we listen you can see her relax and smile. Sometimes it's faking us out or saying no for weeks at at time, but it's so worth it. You can't get to calm and love without trust.

This is great. Very clear and creates plenty of space and opportunity for Carmen to feel safe and supported. Also, loved his goodbye whistle at the end

Great video, I love this training info! You can see how well you communicate with him and he has been trained very well. It's a win\win for both parrot and owner. Such a lucky bird to have you.

My new rescue has no toes and no balance so the treat feeding process is so much harder. She has so many behavioral issues from a neglected environment and being housed with so many large amazons (she’s an Alexandrine) and with her feet so many things are different in the training process.

I'm so sad to hear about your alexandrine and hope it's going well. Try offering small treats that she won't need to hold like pieces of nuts or you can cut up her favorite treat into smaller pieces. She will probably use her beak a lot as a third leg so keep that in mind when training. I wish you all the luck, you are wonderful for taking in this sweet parrot and I hope it is going well!

I have sulphur crested cockatoo and he likes head scratch but if you stop he will bite you to get your attention and he will keep coming back to you for more and more of the head scratch, also if you turn my back he also will bite you, at the end I am not trusting him at all to be near from my family. There is also this behavior when there is a new person from my family or friends came to my house he will recognizes him and starts his previous behavior request for head scratch.
