I really enjoyed this episode. When it was mentioned that the generation after Millenials is hooking up less or having less casual sex, despite them having grown up with the sex apps at their fingertips, I found the responses valid, but I’d like to offer another perspective. The generation following us is the first that will have come to age with gay marriage being legal nationally. I think that them hooking up less may be partially due to the fact that they’ve grown up with marriage being a possibility for them and thus they are able to more freely imagine a future with a partner and in turn are willing to invest more time in getting to know one partner. I’m excited to see what comes about for the future generations of queer people of color where there’s been more visibility and equality.
Every comment or response in both parts of this very interesting discussion came from a person with pretty privilege. Men without the privilege don't have the same experiences. It would be interesting to see a panel discussion involving men without the privilege, but how do you invite someone to have that discussion without insulting them?
I don’t think it would necessarily be insulting because you can not be pretty and not be ugly at the same time. It’s just an average guy. Another aspect that I have found myself in is being a black person in an area of mostly white people. So even if you are good looking, you may be not counted in due to race or ethnicity.
Great point about how do you invite someone to have that discussion without insulting them...we've covered pretty privilege last season but understand the conversation can be had form many perspectives - we'll be brainstorming!
@@crecasens If a person who has become accustomed to the benefits of a subjective privilege finds out that the benefits aren’t universal, they can console themself by acknowledging that limited privilege is still privilege.
You see what's happening around the country at the top levels of government that is going to affect young black men... and this question is the one upon which you choose to center the minds and thoughts of our young black men. You sure make your young black male predecessors, M.L.K., and Malcolm proud!... Just encourage young black men to sit back and think of sex while caring nothing about what's happening around them.

@@SurfaceLevelPodcast I didn’t see the pretty privilege discussion. I recently discovered your podcast and I’m still trying to catch up.
