I am an expert SW user, but I need to learn Cat5 for a new job. I am starting with Cat surfacing, because I know SW surfacing and it is not intuitive. I already know regular Cat modeling steps with its idiotic picnic benches would drive me crazy. Thanks for this video series. Very few good, concise and verbally competent stuff on youtube.
Hi there thanks for the video, I want to share my trouble with you hope you can help me, I don't get history of offseted surface, splited & trimmed surfaces, extracted surfaced I just get a surface symbol in tree history instead of showing a extracted surfaces or any other other surface options
Hi, can you please explain to me what they might be saying here. Thanks ''Create a point on the circle using a ratio of 0.25, modifying the default reference extremum point within the Point Definition dialog. Use the X direction as the extremum reference direction''
I know about catia free doc website. I am looking something help documents installed in catia. Which open with a particular tool information when pressed F1
That's a loaded question and really depends on the intent. There are edge, variable, tritangent, face to face. Also cost and aesthetics come into play.
Vivek Mahato It is possible to model the wing in CATIA. But making it move is a whole different thing. I suggest you look into animation programs. CATIA is more for mechanical designs. It has basic animation tools. Organic movement is not it's strong suit.
In the past the 2 products were separate. ICEM was more advanced in generating complex shapes quickly, especially Class A surfacing commonly used in Automotive design. But, now CATIA and ICEM are both integrated together as one. It is an expensive add-on and is very specialized for high-end surface generation.
draw a curve , then take another plane and draw line on that plane, then connect the end point of line and curve with line command, then select Fill command, and select all above one by one. thats it

I totally understand. It’s a powerful software but so unintuitive. I don’t have access to V5 anymore. I mostly consult on Fiverr using Inventor.

Could you help by a video ??.I want to make a wing of a dragon fly using Catia V5. Any suggestion is appreciated..
Vivek Mahato

Thank you for your suggestion.. Is using wireframe fine to make a dragon fly wing design? I have no idea how to go about it in Catia..
Vivek Mahato
I wouldn't attempt this in CATIA. just search 'wing animation' in TH-cam.
I saw a nice one done in Blender, which is free to download.
Thank u mate..I will give it a try ..thank u again

ICEM used to be a separate product. But now it's integrated into CATIA. But you have to pay extra for it.
It is a really nice tutorial!
