This was one of my favorite shows when I was 9 years old! I remember the “Dinosaurs are in a parade” number and I have been singing it ever since. I just turned 50!!! I couldn’t remember the name of the show, but I knew it was on Nickelodeon. Thanks so much for posting! You brought back so many fond memories from my childhood!!!
I remember this show when we first got cable in 1981. My lil' bro and I loved it dearly. Can ya'll imagine a show nowadays that encourages children to use their imagination? What a novel idea! Instead of having everything already planned out on a screen in front of them. Thank you so very much for posting this.
I wish I had been a child around the same time you were. I've always been curious what the late 70s early 80s were like. I would been able to see my dad, live, on this show right along with you.
@@filipinowhiteboy Your dad was a cast member? Oh and to have lived in America during what I think was her last gasp of greatness, the 1980s; was everything you hear it was.
@@filipinowhiteboy That's incredible! I wish you would tell your father how very much "Kid's Writes" meant to my brother and I. That show was INTEGRAL in helping my brother and I think for ourselves and on the fly. It also helped develop our sense of humor and how to be spontaneous and in the moment. It showed us that we had ideas that had merit and WERE worth exploring. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Thank you so much for posting this! I remember watching this show as a kid, and I’ve had the opening song playing in my head at random times for the past 40 years now! I also remember watching “Pinwheel,” “Today’s Special,” and of course, “You Can’t Do That On Television” on Nickelodeon. Kids today will never be as lucky as we were to watch those shows.
I came to YT looking for that "Summer Fun" song, and lo, the only episode I could find was the episode with the song I wanted. The commercials are a nice bonus, too.
My mom bought one at the state fair, or something like it, I think it evolved into a bigger tool called Punch-It. She made a bunch of sweatshirts with cats.

I wish the episode was the song "My Stereo is Great" and. "Mountain Who is Your Father". Those were my favorites 💚
Only 17 episodes were made and yet Nick reran them to death til 1987
That's because it was that awesome of a show.
Wow. I’m glad I never got around to writing anything to submit to the show then!
