- We’re back with another Friday episode and what a way to end the working week. We’re joined by the hilarious comedian turned poet, Tim Key. You’ll know him from Peep Show, Alan Partridge's Mid Morning Matters and Taskmaster.
Tim first appeared on the comedy circuit after he pretended to be a student at The University of Cambridge in order to get into Footlights, which took him to the Edinburgh Fringe. He then started out as a stand-up comedian, and after a few bad shows, retreated and started writing poems.
He speaks to Jamie and Tom about all of this and more, including where his love of comedy came from, and tells the story of when he and Jamie became the very best of friends. Plus, he gives us an exclusive reading from his new anthology of poems ‘Chapters’, which is available for pre-order here. It is due for release on 6th November.

Cannot get enough of Tim Key. God he's hysterical. The whole dynamic here with Jamie is brilliant, love it guys.
Thank you! 💛
love how at 47:36 Jaime hears the term "flights of fancy" for the very first time
Absolute anarchy from Key as usual, incredible stuff
Tim and Jamie is the combo the world never knew it needed
Great episode.
Watched it for Tim, but Jamie is also very likeable and had great chemistry with Tim. I'm not sure who Tom is - was he a host with Jamie or a guest like Tim? He delivered some decent quips, but I felt his chemistry didn't work well with Tim and he interrupted him too much (if he was one of the hosts). Thankfully Tim's quick and hilarious wit saved it more often than not, but it could easily have ended up spoiling it. Fortunately it didn't, and it was very enjoyable.
Tim Key showing the glaringly vast gap between professional talent and bumbling amateurs. Thank god for large inheritances allowing fools to live their deluded dreams.
I find it fascinating that Tim Key is actually able to make a living from what he does, it must be one of the good things bout living and being based in the UK. The comedy industry is by far one of the best out there.
Would be great if the third guy let Tim speak
It sort of ruined it for me.
Yes, FFS - let the guests get a word in edge ways.
Excruciating stuff
Agreed.. he thought he was being funny by interrupting. You can tell deep down that Tim was getting a bit fed up but he’s just too nice to let it show
Go solo, Jamie
Great episode! Tim is one of my favourite comedians. Loved it
Tim has got me laughing out loud uncontrollably in public in the first 5 mins - great guest!
Tim takes them to school
For what it's worth, there's an odd edit around the 52:30 mark that you might want to fix. 😬
Both of them getting hung up on whether Alex Horne's brother Matt, is *the* Matt Horne and Tim looking ever more frustrated then suddenly saying "Can we say where people can buy the book?" Was so friggin hilarious. Love love love Tim Key!
I feel so sorry for Mr Key
This is just fantastic stuff
These three should have a daily show.
Hilarious pod episode 😂
It’s like the funny lad at school having the thick jocks on at lunchtime
“I don’t want to talk about my life on podcasts. I want to talk to my friends about my life and my books on podcasts”
For me, this is how I’d like everyone to operate
It’d be better than the “vomit up everything for content” we live with now.
But hey, I only speak for me.
Chapters is probably the funniest book ever written.
Key is my favorite.
House of Games was with Sunetra Sarker and Laura Whitmore.
Yeah, they were getting a bit mixed up with sports presenters because when they were each on first, separately, Tim was in the week with Gabby Logan and Jamie with Clare Balding. But, as you say, in the HoG Champions week that they were on together, it was with Laura Whitmore and Sunetra Sarker.
ironically enuf the working title for googlebox was dead souls.
Love it!
Oh my interrupt.
Funniest thing Jamie has been in is murder in successvile

Which muppet
What the fuck is going on
£15 is a bit much
Take a shot every time Jamie fake laughs or sighs
Grew up on Dey Road (pronounced die) but Siri calls it day so now it's day road and even though day is nicer than die I don't like it.
Tom needs to stop talking, so annoying
Tarquin is unwatchable.
god this is impossible to listen to. Too many digressions. It's like a fever dream, they'll ask him a question then two words in they'll pull at the strings of a particular word and just completely go off on a tangent. Whilst giggling in the most irritating way possible.
The contant "sure"s are very irritating, sounds like my mum on a long phone call
I wish Tim Key would just FRO.
