- Today we check out a custom map called "Citysiege". It is a huge city that has outer wall defenses, and JackieFish and I defend it as the empire and Wood Elves. We are being attacked by Warriors of Chaos and Greenskins. Indypride leads one of the attacking armies. All this stuff is made possible in Total War: Warhammer, because of the awesome editing tools. Enjoy the Battle :D

I am about to upload a new version of the map that increases wall space and makes it easier for missile troops to fire, the aesthetics have been improved a whole lot and deployment zones have also been edited. In other words it fixes most of what was lacking in this version. I will put a link to it in the description of this map.

every time the eagles attacked I imagined JD off of Scrubs shouting "EAGLE"
Your eagles definitely could've sswarmed the HellStorm cannons. They were left defenceless numerous times.

you should have send your general in earlier, they have so much health you don't have to worry about them dying when helping the rest of your troops too much
True. The spellsingers with the lore of life are also really good at keeping guys with massive health like Durthu alive if they have the right spells.

I like how they had the shoddier looking half-timber Empire buildings in the lower city and the grander stone Brettonian houses in the upper city, I imagine representing the poorer/wealthier districts. A nice touch.

I know this isn't 1212 but just seeing a fair close seize battle really made me appreciate this one. Really helps build up the suspense whose gonna win instead of Oh another defender gets slaughtered.

Wow a siege battle in warhammer that's 30 mins long. I never thought I would see that day. If there was only a way to integrate these custom maps into the campaign.

I like how when the sorcerer of chaos came back, he brought 2 ok health units with him.
I'd like to see a helms deep "recreation" with the map (of course) the defending side with empire soldiers and wood elves. And the attacking army having orcs. The orcs have a 2 to 1 ratio vs the army of the elves and empire. I think it'll be hard to do but a cool video to play

when the wild wood rangers charged, they looked like the charge from the battle of helms deep when the elves charged at the uruk-hai when the wall got exploded.

good battle, but you seriously need someone to teach how to play this vastly different version of total war Apollo. throwing your spellslingers and eagles into the front-lines caused my ass to clench so hard.
Chase Wilson hey! I got this game recently. any examples on how to battle in this game?
you have a few categories you have to understand first
air
infantry
archers
monsters
Calvary
artillery
magic/utility
air- these are your typical gank squads used by the empire, vampires, bretonnia, and wood elves. used to snipe heroes, destroy other air forces, and hammer and anvil infantry/monster lines. you typically charge them in, then pull them back to the safety of the air. rinse repeat. these are usually your general/hero/magic units riding a dragon, terrorghiest, eagle, and griffon. but there are a whole variety of flying units ranging from bats to knights on Pegasuses.
infantry- every race has this, but these are largely used to destroy other lines (depending on physical, armor, magic damage and defense). once those line fights are done, you use them to clog up/tank enemy heroes/monsters, so your monster/calvary/heroes can get damage done without taking hits from the opposing hero/monster. Dwarves are largely composed of infantry because they have no Calvary or monster units.
archers- largely used to hit monsters/heroes to create favorable trades when the heroes/monsters from both teams come to blows. they are also excellent anti-air forces for gank squads. wood elves have the best quality wise, but bretonnia has some of the best price for performance archers. the vampires have no archers or artillery, therefore they rely on charging into battle/ranged magic attacks.
monsters- used to terrify other armies to massively hit their leadership, causing routs (very good against orcs and chaos who have shit leadership). They are also heavy hitters, but are easily destroyed by anti-large troops (typically Calvary). vampires and beastmen have the monopoly on these units, but every faction but dwarves have them.
Calvary-very good hammer and anvil units, good anti-large, very expensive. not much else to say about these units. empire probably has the best at the moment, which is odd since bretonnia should have the best (but a DLC fleshing out the Bretonnians is coming out soon, so they should be the horse lords soon)
artillery-chaos hell cannon, dwarf grudge thrower/cannon, bretonnian trebuchets and orc doom divers are the best when comparing cost to performance. it is EXTREMELY important to protect this since flying units can snipe these units easily. they are a risk and sometimes don't pay off.
magic/utility-i am putting all these guys under the "hero" classification. magic users are what you use in the back to fling buffs, spells, and healing against the enemy or your own units. typically want to protect these guys because they are incredibly weak hero units (thus why i was cringing at the spellslinger being at the front lines). heroes can be magic user, buffer (dwarves use cool down runes, not magic pools), and brawler and are typically your general. your general is expected to be in the front lines doing insane damage from the get go, as opposed to previous total wars where you wanted to protect them zealously. every army will have a variety of heroes, but the dwarves are the most reliant on them due to the lack of Calvary and monster units.
unlike previous total wars you have to manage a separate resource, magic. this is not the case for some armies which only use cool downs and no magic (like dwarves), but you want to make sure you are not using magic to early or to late. actual "damage" magic (tornadoes, knock backs, area spells in general) is overpriced and worthless due to its random nature, so most people only use buffs, debuffs, summoning units, and guaranteed targeted direct damage spells (something CA should fix).

Love this video! Glad you're giving TW:W a second chance.
A few pointers: use your hero D'Urthu (sp?), he's a tank and with your spellsingers you can use them to heal him I believe. Also I noticed when you got charged at that hill choke point, I thought I saw you had archers just sitting back at the top of the hill. They are great for softening up trolls, and if they have the armor piercing arrows that is perfect for units like black orcs and any Chaos warriors with armor.
It would be great to use any fear/terror inducing characters like the steam tank (does Durthu have it?) I believe the glade lords so.
It's a shame you lost your wildwood riders, they can be critical.
Def keep any spell singers of life to heal your lords and such. Also I hoped that the empire brought more artillery to soften those large clumps.
I felt like you didn't use much magic either.
I hope you don't take this as me making fun of you, especially since I'm a noob to this game and mainly just watch others play. I play a bit but I haven't picked up the RoTWEs DLC even.
So anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong, it would be very helpful and would help me to learn more. Thank you!

Apollo logic don't send the living tree with a giant sword into battle but send ladies wearing cloth to the front lines
it seems like that vortex spells, especially pit of shades, will be much more powerful in these custom seiges due to the number and size of choke points.

Baconman 14 modders also found out how to.add these maps to the campaign so its definitely worth it imo
