    Since this was a lot of interest in the radio, I have put in my Amazon store. The link to my store is in the description of the show above.

    The "special features" grade deserves an "A". This radio is aimed at people who want a good-functioning radio but can't find one WITHOUT all the confusing, complicated and unnecessary bells and whistles. For these folks, this radio really SHINES! Sometimes I just want to come home from work, turn on the radio, find a station, and that is it. I listen to the news while I am doing stuff around the house. The "special features" often impede the listening experience. Good video. Thanks for the review. Cheers.

    I love it. It’s an old school type analogue radio. I had something called a Realistic Astronaut 4. If you can deal with the tuning, it was a real neat radio.

      hamrad88 A 4 band instead of the 3 on the Panasonic. 4-12 on one band and 12-22 (which was mostly what was listened to. ) Took 4 C batteries. No dial light or ssb. Has the tuning and a fine tuning dial. Not great but very good for a first time shortwave radio. Had mine connected to a longwire outdoors in the backyard.

      @RJDA.Dakota 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      hamrad88 I’m not sure about a model or serial number but She set itself is a Realistic Astronaut 4. There was also an Astronaut 8 with other bands on it.

      Yes, that is the name of it. There were many similar to it sold by Radio Shack.

    One of the best analog radio at this day and age. I have this for a year now and it is just awesome.
    By the way, I have a spare just in case they discontinue this model.😁

    After seeing your review, I recently bought the same radio (made in Indonesia)to gift to my old mother, from an electronic shop in Bahrain and I paid 11.5 Bahrain Dinar (Around 29 US dollars). In amazon.com it was around 49 dollars + 16 dollars shipping to Bahrain.
    This radio looks very good, Battery going strong even after 2 months, clear and quality sound and very strong reception.
    There was another model 2400d of the same company in the shop, same price, super sounding radio, better than this model, but due to the beauty I selected this one!!!!

    I purchased this radio in November 20 21 thinking it was a true analog radio which it isn’t; DSP tuning is extremely difficult on the short wave band because of how compressed it is; you have to be extremely gentle when tuning or you might miss anything but the strongest signals

    Hi there its raymond nice little radio it looks like a late 1960s radio or 1970s sound is ok even at that price l would buy it just for the look of the set l will say its not the worst radio on the market so a buy

    **NOTE** :
    Thais radio is not “new”, but has been around for a few years, apparently, but not for the North American
    market. It seems to be quite popular in India, and the Middle East.
    This was designed for simplicity, and functionality.
    MW (AM) reception is outstanding❗️FM is excellent. Short Wave is decent ( but not for
    any major DXing).
    The 2 “D” cells are supposed to last 275 hours, and I’ve no reason to doubt that.
    It has good sound, and plenty loud.
    Short Wave tuning requires some patience. ( but not like the analog DSP radios).
    This radio is not for everyone, which is probably why Panasonic did not try to market it here in the States.
    📻🙂

      Yes “DD” models were made for the Middle East.

    The video looks great, thanks for sharing! I can't find what the different suffixes are for on the name of the radio either but I will say that my RF-562DD2 is a DSP radio. This radio sounds great on headphones too but you'll need a single to double channel adapter to have audio in both ears. It's a good little radio for sure but definitely of course not the best.

    Your Cell Camera is working great Tom! This radio seems hard for most of us to take seriously with all the other competition out there. Thanks for the review and sharing.

      I have to agree. Focus is pretty Sharp. Color saturation and accuracy seems very good. If you're using your cameras built-in microphone it's exceptional. But I don't know if you're using a better microphone along with the video. The phone blows out your hands a little bit with the lighting. But it's barely noticeable. What make and model of phone are you using?

    • @hamrad88
      @hamrad88  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the report. I am using the cellphone's microphone and it is a Samsung A50. I got it a few months ago to replace my older one that died. Have not used it that much and this is the first time I used it to take videos.

      This radio has been on the market for a few years, but mostly in the Far East market. Made in Indonesia, and very popular in India.
      It was only fairly recently it was brought to the U.S. market.
      I bought this just about a month before this video.
      It is still being manufactured.

    Looks like it’s trying way too hard to look like it was made in the 1970s the sw as a single band and trimmed at this price point just seems unacceptable

      It is not cheap for what it is, however, anyone into MW (AM) listening/ DXing, this is quite a radio❗️
      Plus some 275 hrs. At med. volume battery life makes it fantastic for long term power outage ( ie: hurricane).
      📻🙂
