You know, they wouldn't be able to say it because it's a kids show, but I feel like William's parents thought he was on drugs. The principal mentions he went on a "strange trip" and that's when he started acting weird.
Matthew Martin he meant as a trip over seas. That's what Jeremy said when he called as William's dad to tell Delmas that William would be out of school in one episode.
They should've (at least) let him fight in ep 94. Of all the times Aelita get captured by the Scyphozoa, Xana never took control of her outside lyoko. Seeing William get controlled when he stayed with Jeremy didn't make sense. That's the one inconsistency that bothered me the most about the show.

I've always felt as though this episode was leading to a diffferent ending for William with the group. First off, everyone treated William totally different in this episode compared to the next one, and Yumi doesn't seem to hold a grudge against him in this episode when he comes back either. She's even waving at him, and is smiling. That talk with Ulrich that she had on lyoko also gave me that vibe that she wasn't going to be mad at William. Ulrich also seems more mature here when compared to the next episode, for the simple fact that he finally lets Yumi hang with William without saying a word and accepting that he and Yumi are just friends after all. Yet, in the next episode the group totally shuns William. Yumi wants nothing to do with him, and Ulrich tells him to never hang around Yumi ever again. ???
The original plan was for William for travel the network with the group and take down replikas, eventually coming to the "volcano" replika that is in the game and having a big battle with a represenation of XANA. But since the group making the show ran out of time and budget for the series, they had to end the show on the sour note the next episode more or less leaves while trying to tie up all of the loose ends. Thus, lets introduce a multi-agent program, make William the villain for the last episode, so on so forth.
Even if he was under XANA's control, William caused the group a lot of grief. Besides, his recklessness led him to be captured in the first place so of course the warriors are going to be a little cautious about letting him be near Lyoko again. As for the thing with Ulrich, that was just witty banner. Not to mention Yumi didn't seem that interested in him later on in season 3
It's such a shame William wasn't allowed to join them for the final episode, that fight against X.A.N.A was just as much Williams as it was the rest of them at this point, it would have been cool to see him in that badass X.A.N.A suite using those powers to help them for the final few episodes, given the fact they kept a separate skid for William I was always under the assumption that'd have been the case.
Apparently the writers wanted William to turn evil by his own choice and revive XANA had there been a 5th season. So for as much crap as Evolution gets it having William permanently join the gang is a much better conclusion for his character than what the original idea was.

Yeah 'Aelita' and really 'Odd' really do act like they are cousins;I think it really shows in the episode *Replika* when they had that big argument with each-other, not to mention they are the only two with unique hair colors.
So for anyone curious, I've been keeping a tally of how many times each Warrior has devirtualized Xana William. Should be noted that not all of these were solo battles. Ulrich: 2 (+1 in his nav skid) Odd: 3 Yumi: 3 Aelita: 3 (+1 in the skid) Should also note that had it been a straight-up fight, Ulrich would have devirtualized William in this episode too.
I didn't realize Odd got so many devirtualizations. I always thought the reason why Odd was the one to bring back William was because he wasn't in that many fights with William.

But Odd managed to use his claws to save himself from falling and fire a laser arrow to win.
Yeah. Yumi seems to be happy that Ulrich finally matured, at least here. And accepts that Yumi can hang out with William whenever she wants since her and Ulrich are just friends, so he has no obligation to get mad.

William's second kill was Odd who had his back turned from far away. Odd shoots him in the back and beats him. He may have the fewest amount of wins against William but the ones he got were some of the biggest for the group and he got the last laugh.
Even though the final fight and finale are one and two episodes away, respectively, I really think this is the pinnacle of that special brand of Lyoko epic.
I'd like to see an episode where one of the non-computer geeks has to fill in for Jeremy as he goes to Lyoko cause he's the only able bodied person left to escort Aelita (though, judging from the last time he went, he wouldn't be as much of a use cause he was outdone by a couple of megatanks according to Ulrich)
He’s great and all but had this been any other fighting the moment ulrich knocked William to ground he should have stabbed him and won like ulrich fought so hard for him thinking this guy I don’t like he’s after the girl I want he doesn’t like me and he’s tried to destroy us time and again so I should beat him right now but no let’s save him and he holds back ulrich should have beaten him but In the end I would take his victory as him having the chance to beat William but not taking it to save him
Great briefing from Jeremy at the start. And fun stuff w/clone Will & the Dunbars. The show really came a long way from the humble beginnings, to- One team dealing w/the robot army in Siberia base. And the other trying to save Will, while the giant monster was attacking. Nice reunion w/his friends & parents. Ha, Jim saw it. :) Awesome ep.

i think it's due to the personality that emerges, not the programming itself. Like, he takes everything at face value, and doesn't understand things like jokes, analogies, or even secrets. They probably TOLD him not to say anything, but he doesn't see the reason to keep anything a secret.
BLS Actually, Jeremy could have created a clone with a lot more sentience, however that comes with the risk of the clone developing a malicious personality like Xana did. Plus, since he's virtual, he has the same abilities as other specters, like in the episode where the clone fought the real William.
So the cockpit slamming against the Ice wall after Aelita was thrown onto her side as it went over the edge was enough to de-vertualise her before the cockpit exploded
In the Italian translation Aelita said that she devirtualized herself with her energy camp. Why didn't she do it when she was about to fall into the digital sea in the previous episodes?
I think the answer we're _expected_ to assume is that he devirtualized himself before the Skid went boom. But let's be honest here, the show hardly ever follows its own rules that much, breaking them all the time in the name of a good story. Why can't Jeremie quick-devirtualize someone about to take a dunk in the Digital Sea, forcing someone in Lyoko to do it first? Drama. Why can't they just take the logical and fast route to somewhere, especially trying to get to the Factory? Drama. Why does nobody ever JUST RUN FOR THE %@#$!^& TOWER WHEN IT'S CLEARLY OPEN, FOR THE LOVE OF FRANZ HOPPER'S BEANIE BABY COLLECTION?!? Drama. To be fair, between "internally-consistent universe but crappy story" and "good story but new rules as the plot demands", I'd go with the good story. Even then, you can take the lack of consistency _too_ far, as Evolution clearly showed...

You know, that robot army looks very ineffective. They're slow and easily taken down. The only threat they posed was sheer numbers. Against human armies around the world, humans with guns and training, XANA's machines would not stand a chance. This can probably be blamed on XANA's limited understanding of Earth and humanity
I mean to be fair, XANA is much more capable of doing much more than control a robot army. He’s almost sent the world to the next ice age, sent a meteor to destroy an entire region, almost caused a nuclear explosion by redirecting millions of volts of energy to a chemical plant, and created plenty of worse situations. It could be that XANA’s plan was to plunge the world into chaos while using the robot army to either enforce some sort of martial law on humanity or rather just enslave them entirely.

Because in one of the earlier seasons, Yumi decided to put an end to Ulrich's jealousy moments by planting where their relationship was. Just friends. Clearly, that wasn't the best choice, as the both of them didn't like being "Just friends."

William's second kill was Odd who had his back turned from far away. Odd shoots him in the back and beats him. He may have the fewest amount of wins against William but the ones he got were some of the biggest for the group and he got the last laugh.

Even though the final fight and finale are one and two episodes away, respectively, I really think this is the pinnacle of that special brand of Lyoko epic.

i think it's due to the personality that emerges, not the programming itself. Like, he takes everything at face value, and doesn't understand things like jokes, analogies, or even secrets. They probably TOLD him not to say anything, but he doesn't see the reason to keep anything a secret.

Actually, Jeremy could have created a clone with a lot more sentience, however that comes with the risk of the clone developing a malicious personality like Xana did. Plus, since he's virtual, he has the same abilities as other specters, like in the episode where the clone fought the real William.
Jeremy tried to fix it in another episode, but he ultimately had to revert the changes due to bugs.

I think the answer we're _expected_ to assume is that he devirtualized himself before the Skid went boom. But let's be honest here, the show hardly ever follows its own rules that much, breaking them all the time in the name of a good story. Why can't Jeremie quick-devirtualize someone about to take a dunk in the Digital Sea, forcing someone in Lyoko to do it first? Drama. Why can't they just take the logical and fast route to somewhere, especially trying to get to the Factory? Drama. Why does nobody ever JUST RUN FOR THE %@#$!^& TOWER WHEN IT'S CLEARLY OPEN, FOR THE LOVE OF FRANZ HOPPER'S BEANIE BABY COLLECTION?!? Drama.
To be fair, between "internally-consistent universe but crappy story" and "good story but new rules as the plot demands", I'd go with the good story. Even then, you can take the lack of consistency _too_ far, as Evolution clearly showed...
odd was de-energized before the robots attacked aelita, it's shown. he had time to wake up, then used his navskid computer to disembark from the skid.
I'm not talking about the de-energize I'm talking about the materialization from the Replica to Earth. Thought they needed the Skid for that. I'm just assuming its a random plot hole and not really a big deal

You know, that robot army looks very ineffective. They're slow and easily taken down. The only threat they posed was sheer numbers. Against human armies around the world, humans with guns and training, XANA's machines would not stand a chance. This can probably be blamed on XANA's limited understanding of Earth and humanity
I mean to be fair, XANA is much more capable of doing much more than control a robot army. He’s almost sent the world to the next ice age, sent a meteor to destroy an entire region, almost caused a nuclear explosion by redirecting millions of volts of energy to a chemical plant, and created plenty of worse situations. It could be that XANA’s plan was to plunge the world into chaos while using the robot army to either enforce some sort of martial law on humanity or rather just enslave them entirely.
Xana probably didn't finish them yet. I doubt those were the final product it had in mind and has to rush them to defend the supercomputer.
Do they ever give a reason why Ulrich and Yumi keep saying they are "just good friends"? I mean, come on, why doesn't he just tell her his feelings towards her?
Because in one of the earlier seasons, Yumi decided to put an end to Ulrich's jealousy moments by planting where their relationship was. Just friends.
Clearly, that wasn't the best choice, as the both of them didn't like being "Just friends."
