@@rainydays9967 They have indeed overhauled their practices. One of their two main issues was that some people were signing up as therapists without qualifications, and now you have to be approved as a licensed therapist to sign up. The other issue was that they shared consumer data to third parties, whereas now, they only do so in order to comply with applicable laws (as is the case with every company) or to Service Providers that provide limited services that help them operate the platform. I know several people that use BetterHelp and have been greatly helped by it, seems like a very beneficial service to me.
I just never understood how the owner can sit there and claim he needs his own peace and quiet while his staff was literally rubbing pennies together to keep warm.

So let me get this straight. He gives out free rooms to his mates and expects them to at least tip his staff... When he steals their tips in the first place.
Hope the workers all got their backpay. I sued one of the restaurants I worked for because they didn't pay overtime to their cooks contractually when they first opened. However, I didn't sign a damn thing as I came about after opening, so I just walked across the street and hired a lawyer once they fired me for asking about my overtime. Won it without doing anything more than talking to said lawyer and waiting 6 months.

He also thought he was an antique specialist and ended up buying crap!! He needs to stop playing at stuff he has absolutely no knowledge of pretending hes the man! Hes pathetic
I fucking love these. You should do more Gordon Ramsay episodes like you did Airline. You could do Hell’s Kitchen, kitchen nightmares and more hotel nightmares!
This was one of the wildest hotels I've ever seen on the series. These owners are something else. And so was your backdoor joke LMAO. You should react to the episode about the guys who have a hotel above a bar that has loud music til all hours and moldy rooms.
6:31 but then the staff that’s there already would get less pay😂 As a previous waitress/bar woman it’s actually pretty easy to run a restaurant- many times after 6 months I’d be left alone with 8 tables, and a bar and I’d have maybe one extra waitress- it’d be easy to divide it, and let the kitchen know that ‘we’ve got a good few tables in, do you need us to stagger the orders?’ By the time we take their order, we’ll wait a few minutes to put it in if needed😂 it’s relatively easy tbh😂
Doesn't the US have workers rights laws? I'm sure if this hotel had been properly inspected aroujd the time of the episode's recording or even pre-gordon it would have been shut down near instantly.
Probably the only inspection they’d expect would be from Health Department to certify the safety of the kitchen and rooms. I’m not sure how the laws are in Vermont, but in my state the wage theft is something that needs to be reported to the state’s justice department, who then investigate. Not that long ago celebrity chef Mario Batali got in big trouble for stealing tips from staff (in New York, maybe?). There was sexual harassment, too, I think. It’s terrible difficult to unionize in the service industry because turnover is so high, so protection for workers has to go through the government. Very inefficient.
If he is really shafting them out of that much of their wages, there are many lawyers who would take this case to sue. What he is doing is 100% illegal and there are many ways to get him in trouble without having to spend your money.
His piles upon piles of antiques being essentially worthless is the perfect analogy for Robert. All class and luxury in his head, but living off his boyfriends money
Auther, im big on reading comments and for uears its never changed, the audience you have is so kind and usually on the same mindset as me it seems. You should be happy to have such a kind but also no nonsense people. Way better than what other creators are cultivating.
Hey Arthur. First off, love you. I really enjoy the work you do. When the series is done, I would love if you made a “Where are they now” video of the boss and the business… if you can find that info
Years ago I went to a pub in Philly. The food was ok, until . . . A few weeks later I saw that same pub on Gordon Ramsay's show and he showed a rat in a bucket in the kitchen. It made me sick!!!
I always think about the people who went to the restaurant BEFORE he got there. I've seen every hotel hell and kitchen nightmares but I always think I wouldnt want to eat there even after he left. Old habits die hard..
Robert's the type of guy who was never told no, and got whatever he wanted. As soon as somebody came along who was never going to put up with his BS, his brain doesn't know what to do.
I could get that place making money in a minute. Get that motorhome out of there, and ban them both from the building. Tell them ages are due to everyone on a Tuesday and the first time he doesn’t pay wages things will get messy. Put that lovely old lady Barbara on as the face of the hotel, put her into reception as a full time worker, and have her as the host. She’s such a lovely old dear and exactly the kind of person you’d love to see in a historic hotel like that. I’d throw all of his fake shit out, and contact a museum and have them help fitting out the dining room and reception as it would have been when the presidents dined there, and then once a month, I’d do a banquet with dishes like would have been on the menu when they visited. I could run that place easy.
In America we have this underground culture of ppl who will see this kind of illegal treatment of employees and will get hired with the intention of suing them for profit. 😅 Its a useful service... This man is pretty much signaling that he would love to lose a fat lawsuit to his states wage and labor department.
Robert is one of those idiot bosses who think they know literally everything, and if anyone tries to think for themselves, or tries to implement new ways of doing things, Robert’s poor little ego can’t handle it, and he either freaks out because someone dares to do things differently from the way he says they must do it, or he fires them on the spot. He’s one of those people you really hopes hire someone with nothing to lose and when he starts throwing his weight around, they just snap and knock him out.

Sorry if I missed some explanation in the video, but do you know this video's unlisted?
yep it was unlisted for review haha, accidentally put it on the end screen of the preview video too early haha

Sad to see you promoting Better Help. Unless the practices have been completely overhauled, they are not a good company at all.

"I'm not pathetic" Robert said pathetically.
I just never understood how the owner can sit there and claim he needs his own peace and quiet while his staff was literally rubbing pennies together to keep warm.
They rationalize it as the employee should be thankful to them for the privilege of a job to give them those two pennies.
It comes down to him thinking he's better than them for some reason. He felt they needed to be treated like servants rather than employees
