How to Make a Simple Delay Timer Circuit Using Capacitor and Transistor?

- In this video, I will explain the working of the transistor timer circuit, also known as delay timer or turn on circuit, which is an example of a hobby electronic circuit that you can easily make on a breadboard and make using basic circuit elements such as BJT transistors, capacitors, LEDs, resistors and buttons. This example will be extremely useful in terms of better understanding the principle of BJT Transistor and capacitor working together. For a better understanding, I recommend that you consider the video as a whole and watch it until the end. If you watch the video until the end, you will better understand the logic of the capacitor's operation in DC. I will also show a simulation of this circuit with Proteus towards the end of the video.

Simple circuits like this are good for beginners to easily understand where the current is going in the circuit, and what the role of the different resistors and capacitors are.
For the new guys in town: If you're going to replace the transistor with something, such as a 2n2222 or 2n3904, be sure to check the pinouts. BC547 is CBE while 2222/3904 is EBC
This is such a well explained circuit and beautifully presented in a step-by-step fashion. Well done and good on you for teaching this beautiful art form in a simplified fashion.
thank you , i like how understadable you make it , bless be opon you .
You are so welcome
Very clear my friend❤
Good explain
I LOVED IT LOVE THE EVERY Single BIT of the video pls PLSSSSS make a video about this.
Transistor timer delay OFF circuit
This was ON circuit can you show OFF pls 🙏 :)
Btw I enjoyed so much the video
Awesome, i am feeling like an engineer
thanks bro
Good work
Awesome
Thank you so much ☺️
@@eeapplications You welcome.
What software is used to draw the circuit?
the button will quickly be out of service. (Because of the current peak when charging the capacitor)
Agreed - with a similar set up powered by three AAA batteries, I measured the peak current at over 5A as the capacitor charges. So I've just designed a circuit with a MOSFET to charge the capacitor, and then the BJT to switch on the LED.
@@KarlOnSea Just put a resistor in series between the button an the + on the cap.
Would a suitable current limiting resistor in series with the switch fix it?
That first contact the Capacitor will discharge on its contacts max amperage. It is like hammering it.
Got a vid for a one shot after delay? need to time out then cycle one time after power up cycle?
Basically bypassing a switch for one cycle ?
How do you change the circuit to become a normally off to a normally on using a single pole switch?
Hello. Do you know car start up scan LED strip. It normal function is when start the engine LED strip is turning on then automatic LED stip and stay turn on untill turn off the engine. Can we use this methode turn off LED strip automatically in few seconds after turning on the engine?
I want a timer that acts the other way around: you toggle a switch and 2s later (if the switch is still on) the lamp turns on and stays on forever (even if the switch goes off).
great lesson.... now....can we modify this so the LED is replaced with a enough juice to turn on relay, for 10sec THEN, turn off, and AUTOMATICaLY REPEAT EVERY HOUR?// until power is disonnected?/ my water fall evaporates considerably when its hot i want to filk it ever hr till night ⛲🍺👍
hi i am trying to make a similar circuit but the LED lights up only after the capacitor has reached full charge.
so how should I modify this circuit to achieve that?
Instead of your finger on the push button, can we get output from other circuit as input to this delay circuit?
I guess using another transistor like the BC547 to replace the push button.
Yes, you can use the output of a microcontroller for example.
Perhaps an optocoupler (given that are two circuits), just be sure that it will handle the current
An R/C timer with a transistor latch circuit could delay turn on and hold it.
Hi, what to do if I need a few milliseconds delay?
What if I wanted to charge a capacitor and have it discharge once it gets to 9 volts automatically?
You can use 555 IC and voltage divider.
Nice also what's the simulation software name ?
Proteus
@@alneais it free
which is the software he used for showing circuit demo????????????????????/🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Proteus
Can you please teach how a 555 timer ic works
Can you make a circuit diagram of lighting led for 5 second on open circuit
Please 🙏🙏🙏
What happen if you put the resistor and led to the emitter
How many microfarad for like 5 seconds only? TIA
Good for basic demo but not perfect timing
Shorting the power supply to common through the cap is a bad idea. You need to current limit that cap.
I didnt know that current flowed through a cap in dc. I guess it could fail with age.
Why ? It's a capacitor, not an LED. As long as you don't apply more volts than the capacitor is rated for, it will be okay.
Como calcular o tempo?
This is amateur electronics, not real engineering. Leave that to the professionals.
this is so irrelevant 😂
