Another great video Rico ,I’m lovin’ my trident and everything in the video that the neptunes guy was sayin was right on point with my thoughts always enjoy your videos ,instagram , live streams and really appreciate your contribution to the hobby👏🏾👍🏾 Thank You Btw I’m Ukl_cg on Instagram not a troll lol 😂 just sayin ✌🏾
I like the idea of the Trident, but not for me. I'd definitely run one if it was given to me. I just don't feel it's a necessary expense with refills and maintenance.
100% same. if im refilling and maintaining the checker not to mention double checking the tridents results to make sure im maintaining it properly and its results are right, i might as well just manually test. But it is a redundancy which if you have alot of cash invested into your system are a good thing to have. If the tech got better where i wouldnt have to maintain it so much or it got cheaper od think about it but for where it is now, the same as 2 years ago when op commented, its not worth it for me.
Thanks for the video Rico. Very informational. Many questions I had were answered. The most important being “is it worth buying?” That question was answered with a yes. Thanks!
The end of my doser tubing just got clogged up from build up over time, and my alkalinity dropped to 5. I lost a few acros and I luckily figured it out. I will say this, if I had a trident I would have caught this drop a lot faster. Would you keep the end of the tubing inside the water? I wasn’t sure so I always kept it 4-5” out of the water.
His alk is dropping while he’s away because he’s not breathing CO2 into the room. Lower pH pushes more bicarb into carbonate and the corals uptake more.
I would not and here are my reason If you look at the last 4 items from Neptune are busted 1) pmup pump is the worst pump in the history of reefing 2) wave pump is a bust 3) ATK junk optical sensor with crap pmup equal unreliable 4) flow sensor nobody cares Now to the Trident cost to run per year 44$x6=264$ plus 150$ maintenance fee to send the unit in to get calibrate so u looking at 415$ cost to run vs to Alkatronic 110$ for 2 years (2 test per day) The only thing saving Neptune from BK is the fushion
Rico. “With That being said”. Let’s start a drinking game every time he says that. Only three in this video lol Love your videos bro. Great information and your knowledge is is on point! I look forward to every one of you videos. “With that being said” thank you. Ps. Rico > B easy. Both you guys inspired me to get back into reefing.
Just don't understand why you have to test so much. I know he says that the part have to run that often to be accurate. I just find that hard to believe..... Saying testing 4x a day isn't overkill is funny to me, esp since prior to the trident brs and many other have have testing once a week is good. I understand testing more is better for accuracy. I feel like the answer for having to do that much testing and not being able to reduce the test frequency is just not true. I find it hard to believe that the parts would fail if you reduce the test frequency. Haha. Feels like the honest answer is that they know that they could justify the reasoning and make more money selling more refills. Which is cool. It's a business, but if the Alkitronic is test all less frequently why not the Trident? Wouldn't mind it, if I felt like they were honest about the reasoning..... Side note short of running a calcium reactor of course us using two part will have swings between dosing lol.... Nothing against the price. Don't mind it. I may buy one some day. I just do not believe the reasoning for the testing amount. I could be wrong though. Nice video man.
Makes me want one even more....one day🙂 Is this considered, keeping it simple?😁 One more thing, i just thought of...how small of a tank is to small for this to be considered a feasible investment. Do I really want one?" yes", but my current tank is only 30g...😂😂get me...one day
For the price, I cant justify it. And they are CHEAPLY MADE AS FU*K! I have Hanna checkers and test weekly-sometimes twice weekly and dose accordingly.
Neptune Trident is garbage. Made of flimsy materials broke little before the 3 month mark and Neptune won't help me with it. Had to contact my bank and do a charge back to get my $800 back
I haven't had a problem! I still am running it and it has been great for me. Sorry you had a bad experience with Neptune maybe they will see this an somebody will reach out to you
@@ricosaquariums7992 already threw it out they don't care about there customers, expected a response from them after spending 2500 on all there equipment. Neptune is a scam ,had issues with my Apex cutting off constantly and back draining my tank and overflowing my sump
Scraping the glass effects alk. !!!!!!! Hmmmmmm. I don't scrape or clean mine but once per week. It's never dirty. My alk remains consistent wetheebi clean glass, clean sump, sand etc. Wtf.
I had the same thought. Sounded like BS. I rarely have to clean the glass and when I do it's maybe a small little spot. Sounds like his tank is not that stable even with latest gagetry
is not even worth buying the trident, i would highly recommend buying the Alkatronic. if you got the money get a calcium reactor running that will be end of the dosing. save save save
I don’t think you need it at all! But if you want your tank tested multiple times a day I think it’s a convenient piece of equipment. Just like you don’t need LEDs on your aquarium but it’s convenient.🤷🏻♂️

Nice. Been waiting on this one
Great tool, I'll wait for Version 2
Thanks for the video Rico. Very informational. Many questions I had were answered. The most important being “is it worth buying?” That question was answered with a yes. Thanks!
“If I had a 500 gallon tank and a calcium reactor I probably wouldn’t have this issue” my favorite part! 😁👍🌊👏👏👏👏👏👏 Great video!

I have heard these have trouble staying calibrated is this correct?
I didn't have trouble out of mine.
@@ricosaquariums7992 that’s good because I just placed a order for the apex and trident bundle
Keep Up The Hard Work💯💯💯
Great informative conversation here.
Just gotta say that mermaid is amazing! Love your videos Rico
Wow excellent video bro thanks for sharing I’m loving my trident 🔱 so far it’s been great👌🏾👍🏾🔥

good price really! when the Alkatronic is like £950 to buy in uk! I like how you don't have to keep messing around with it!
Great video. Thanks.
this is a game changer for real
Awesome vid. Now I'm leaning towards getting one.
Nicee!! Wish we would of had this year's ago when I had to test EVERYDAY at 12:30 PM when you were on the road trucking
This would mean I would have to buy the Apex system for which i do not have right now. Big money to be dropping maybe someday.
I would like one. Thanks for the info. 👍😎
I would not and here are my reason

1) pmup pump is the worst pump in the history of reefing
2) wave pump is a bust
3) ATK junk optical sensor with crap pmup equal unreliable
4) flow sensor nobody cares
Now to the Trident cost to run per year 44$x6=264$ plus 150$ maintenance fee to send the unit in to get calibrate so u looking at 415$ cost to run vs to Alkatronic 110$ for 2 years (2 test per day)

Hey I know that guy in the video lol... good video bro Tom did have a lot of good info.

Nice
Another great video.. great to here your thoughts on the trident. People value your opinion and experience

Totally agree with the testing frequency being about making $$$ and selling product. Additives not available separately, again more waist and expense.

Hope I can get some apex stuff in the future. Great video
Rico do you know if you can buy the trident without the apex?
Rico you’re the best

This thing is extremely ugly and big AF. $1500 for a doser? Obviously its a pass! If you need this to run a tank... you're a rookie!
