I'm liking the multi tools, but as for the filet knives, I've always used a rapala, they're tried, true, and inexpensive, so they've always been my go to
I've been taking the Native 5 Salt fishing for about a year now and it's fantastic in every application I've put it to. It's most definitely highly corrosion resistant, easy to touch up and takes a very sharp edge. Easily spotted on the bank and in the water. It's also my go-to summer knife in general. Pairs very well with the Siren or Caribbean for bigger jobs like cutting larger bait fish. 🔪🎣🗡
I work on a fishing guide boat out of a Ilwaco Washington and we use the Gerber processors on the boat. They’ve endured some hard use on the boat, I highly recommend.
Yesssss. I just got the native 5 salt PE. Spent all of last week fishing the ocean and it performed very well cutting line, bait, and I even used it to fillet about 10 gaftop catfish. I used my gerber controller fixed blade fillet knife for cutting up the shark steaks. The grip on the gerber is the best I have ever felt on a fillet knife. I love how the fixed blade has a sharpening rod built into the sheath.
The edge held up great for a week long trip. I ran it over my strop about 25 times on each side when I got back and it is back to hair shaving sharp. The steel is definitely not as hard as my s30v knife I daily carry. However, the corrosion resistance was worth it and it would be easy to sharpen in the field. My brother used his Launch 1 with the tiger pattern coated blade and it did show some rust spots by the end of the week. My dad carried a sog flash II with the black coated blade. The sog did not show any signs of corrosion after the week. I believe their blade coating to be more protective than the kershaw's.
In theory that is probably true. We put an LC200N blade in salt water for 3 weeks and it didn't rust. The hardware on the knife was toast but the blade looked great.
Ok, I need to say you sold the skeletool like doodle. I’ve got several leathermans and it’s a go-to. Firstly, that was a new knife, it needs time to break in. After you break it in you can open and close it with one hand. Also, with the right grip, you can manipulate the pliers (open and shut) with one hand as well. Didn’t even mention the tool swapping feature. It has all the heavy use essentials and no fat. It’s perfect. You didn’t mess up too bad on the vid tho because I bought the Spyderco native 5 Salt for the water after watching. Dyed the scales black because the yellow was a bit obnoxious. Anyway, the skeletool crucial kit 🤙🏼
I fish for bass a lot and what I carry is my mini bugout with orange scales so if I drop it in the water or something I would have a better time finding it. I also carry a leatherman wave on my belt to get hooks out of fish and other things.
Another great video. Blade HQ always does such a great job with their videos and Kurt/Zac are really likeable guys. Kurt did a great job with this video.
I'm a super-minimalist tenkara fisherman......everything goes on a lanyard around my neck- line clippers and hemostat does it for me- no knife necessary when I'm actually in/on the water.
When the leatherman skeletool came up, I instantly thought about the Gerber Centerdrive. They should make a scaled down version of it for applications like this. Just a thought.
it looks like they are finally getting the Salt Atlantic and Pacific in LC200N on their site. Took a while but I'm grateful to Spyderco. If they could just come out with a new Manbug I'd be happy.
I'm 18 and a hardcore smallmouth bass fisherman. I just came back from a portage/fishing trip and I would like to give my 2 cents on fishing knives. I tend to carry my standard EDC when I'm fishing. you can see it in my profile pic
D2 for fishing? You’re braver than me lol but I always have to get in the water to get to my fishing spots(the good ones anyway) so d2 would rust out by the time I get back to the car and can clean it
I wish Spyderco made a salt series knife with a partially serrated blade and a carabiner, this would be the perfect knife. I hate serrated blades but it is necessary on a fishing knife in my opinion.
Rather than using the skeletool I'd use the OHT2 because it's all one handed operation. The tools are all on the outside and the pliers slide out and are spring loaded.
Liked the video... That first yellow Spiderco was awesome.... Would have liked to seen the results of the test that guy did by having those 4 knives soak in salt water inside those class containers.......
Best item is the mora. The Gerber line thing is interesting but I have items like that which are way lighter and smaller. Most of this stuff is way too big and heavy for freshwater. A lot would be useful on saltwater boating. The LC100N Snyderco knife is generally the best all around edc for water IMO though. There is another LC100N Spyderco fixed blade designed by a kayak fisherman that is damn good too. I have the knife but can’t remember it’s name.
I would REALLY like every item in the giveaway, but I would rather buy them than log in to Instagram! Great stuff though. And seriously, all of those are going on to my list!
I don't mean to point this out, but I believe Ben was intentionally left out of the Great Salt Lake video reference. I feel like that respects his ideals of moving on and going from "Ben from BladeHQ" back to good ol "Ben"
Sorry. Instagram is an extension of Facebook and is owned by Zuckerberg. I refuse to have anything to do with him or any of his platforms. I suggest that BladeHQ do the same
Yo bhq can you do a review on the Smith & Wesson hrt 9b boot knife, I've been carrying it for a few months and it's actually pretty good for a budget fixed blade for self defense and utility
Is it just me or does it sound like they had a few beers (or maybe a j) before they shot this. It feels very "flying by the seat of their pants". Like "This is the knife. These are the bullet points I'm supposed to tell you about. It is this much on our website. Really great knife and a great deal".... then repeat lol
My fishing knife needs to be able to filet a fish cut threw 1/3 inch thick bone and be able to cut open aluminum cans and be able to cut braded fishing line also at once
Kurt! We’re fighting right now. It was my birfday during the last WOW and I needed a shoutout from the Hamsharks... tears. That floating Mora though. I don’t have a Mora yet and that just jumped right up the list lol. Hope you guys are doing well and staying safe! Thanks for keeping us entertained!
"Would you carry this huge filet knife while fly fishing?" Personally I'd be sporting that if I was cleaning a Whale or a Great White!!!!! As far as a Beaver, Brazilian is the way to go. She'll respect you for it! Ha Ha Ha
Thanks for labeling the different models on the time scroll. That's a really nice touch. I appreciate that
Never seen a mustache with a wingspan like that before. Homie's about to fly away. Cacaaaawwww
I cant stop laughing 😆
Lol
He's just a catfish in disguise
I'm liking the multi tools, but as for the filet knives, I've always used a rapala, they're tried, true, and inexpensive, so they've always been my go to
i was 10 sec in to the video and immediately thought the MERMAID!!!!
Blast! Should have included the Mermaid.
Who asked
If you don’t fancy the yellow scales , do a diy rit dye.
You can get a really cool orange or green with these yellow FRN handles depending on what dye color you choose.
Blade HQ and if you mess up to the point of no return, you can always make them black.
Dyeing is so easy! $4.99 for the Rit Dye. And boom! Control the color of your scales
I couldn't believe that as cheap as this was, that it was so sharp! My husband fishes & this knife is a great help to him.

So cool that this popped up cause I'm going fishing today with friends!
I see the future.. y’all caught fish.
Did you catch anything?
Johnny Kemp we caught a lot of weed fish
I can appreciate the camera trickery to get everyone in frame despite social distancing
I fish a ton. Any foldwr with easy one hand open and close, or a fixed blade that is easily sheathed one handed, are great. Just my experience
I work on a fishing guide boat out of a Ilwaco Washington and we use the Gerber processors on the boat. They’ve endured some hard use on the boat, I highly recommend.

Spyderco Drangonfly Salt. Half serrated . Yellow. I keep it my zipper pocket. Love that little knife.
I like LC200N more than h1 even though it can potentially rust because the edge retention is so much better
In theory that is probably true. We put an LC200N blade in salt water for 3 weeks and it didn't rust. The hardware on the knife was toast but the blade looked great.
Don’t over look the scissors 😁 that’s a great tool in the kitchen too. I use them to cut whole chicken and fish.
WOW i didn't realize that river fishing also option to return / release the cath! Awesome!
Also, I like the idea of videos for specific outdoor uses like fishing, hunting, camping etc. love the concept.

Leatherman. Pliers and scissors are a fishing must for me.
Stainless mora great boat knife also
Am I the only one that would love to see another best hunting knifes video
i think this guy couldnt give two bits about what kinda knife he has, hes just like give me whatever whenever and ill use it!
Whatever gets the job done. That’s my philosophy.
Another great video. Blade HQ always does such a great job with their videos and Kurt/Zac are really likeable guys. Kurt did a great job with this video.

Spyderco Manbug Salt is an incredible dedicated tackle box knife!
I'm sure that fits in the small little trays nicely.
it looks like they are finally getting the Salt Atlantic and Pacific in LC200N on their site. Took a while but I'm grateful to Spyderco. If they could just come out with a new Manbug I'd be happy.
Spyderco Siren. Surprised it hasn’t made a big splash in the market yet but it’s a perfect knife for salt fishing in New England.
Best knife videos on the internet.
I'm 18 and a hardcore smallmouth bass fisherman. I just came back from a portage/fishing trip and I would like to give my 2 cents on fishing knives.
I tend to carry my standard EDC when I'm fishing.
you can see it in my profile pic

@@jakegay5753 Well I did flip a canoe carrying it and it had minor rust. But I oil it regularly with 3 in 1.
😍the video editing skills and videography!!!! 🤑👌🏻is amazing!!
Awesome episode saw things I have never seen... great job fellas
FISH ON!!! 🤙 Gerber is stepping up their game all over the place.
Not going to lie. We were pretty surprised to actually catch a fish.
Wearing that Pro-Tech shirt right now. Comfy af. Thanks for another great vid!
That shot at 00:10 was awesome.
Just purchased the Spyderco Siren, this is going to be my go to lake/fishing knife.
I love to EDC my free at work but it is fishing season which means it lives in my tackle box
THANK YOU BLADE HQ
love the segmentation in the videos
i bought an sog seal strike for my salt bag and a gerber protege for my fresh bag this year.
Leatherman Sidekick wicked good tool I use it daily on the ocean
Nice selection, love the workshop usemine all the time and the Spyderco native salt is like a razor it's great knife. What an awesome giveaway too 👍
I wish Spyderco made a salt series knife with a partially serrated blade and a carabiner, this would be the perfect knife. I hate serrated blades but it is necessary on a fishing knife in my opinion.
got the native 5 for fishing/swimming in lakes and rivers in north FL.
No ragrets
Really liking the new video series keep them up
Nice lil vid, guys! Blades, beards and bluehalo!
Nice video. Love those Spydercos!
That Benchmade sharpener looks suspiciously like my Work Sharp Field Sharpener.
I’m a big fan of the Bubba blade 12” flex . Great for fillet’n .
Rather than using the skeletool I'd use the OHT2 because it's all one handed operation. The tools are all on the outside and the pliers slide out and are spring loaded.
Upvote for the office clip!
Great video Kurt!
What i needed too see.
Nice fishing essentials..loved it !!
Liked the video... That first yellow Spiderco was awesome....
Would have liked to seen the results of the test that guy did by having those 4 knives soak in salt water inside those class containers.......
Awesome video

Just got a kalashnikov and I’m lovin it
Great Video ,love the location
✌
Your videos haven’t been showing up in my subscriptions since that edc cutting competition like 3weeks ago...
Love my bubba blade works great for deer processing too
Keep up the entertainment guys
Nice video, prices are a bit off though. Leatherman Skeletool is $79 on the website and not as advertised $55.
I would REALLY like every item in the giveaway, but I would rather buy them than log in to Instagram! Great stuff though. And seriously, all of those are going on to my list!
Sweet selection of knives and a sweet giveaway!
Can you do a video that exclusively shows knives for saltwater fishing?
Pleasant surprise to see Cort on knife banter! Met him last summer, great guy. Also wouldve loved to hear his thoughts on the TOPS bull trout.
I enjoy filleting trout with my HALO VI
If you don’t have a set of porcessor sheers to cut up bait you are missing out they cut through eel like it was butter
I have been waiting for this my whole life on your channel
I don't mean to point this out, but I believe Ben was intentionally left out of the Great Salt Lake video reference. I feel like that respects his ideals of moving on and going from "Ben from BladeHQ" back to good ol "Ben"
Congrats to @jayevol1 for winning all of the gear. Enjoy!
HI
Dang. That native 5 salt is amazing. Love the yellow. Been looking for a lc200n knife for a while now.
Sorry. Instagram is an extension of Facebook and is owned by Zuckerberg. I refuse to have anything to do with him or any of his platforms. I suggest that BladeHQ do the same
I don’t have Instasham or Facecrock of Twatter. I’m claiming discrimination!!
Can you find a way to do give aways without Instagram. I don't want another social media account. I don't really want the one I have.
I agree - it was pretty awkward. I actually am going to skip finishing the video because it's hard to watch.
I agree with all the knives
Thank you for the stamp of approval!
Thanks!
Floating Mora! Love it!
Been using the same leatherman wingman for the last 7 years. $50 well spent.
Have you ever tested a spanish knife? I recommend you Cudeman or Miguel Knifes ;)
Mora kansbol is also great option
I thought that was Jeremy Siers
i always take a ka-bar short, i tried folders but they always get gummed up and i have a cheap walmart multitool by gerber because pliers an scissors
You chose those 2 Spyderco knives over the Bow River? That wasn't a good decision.
Great vid guys as usual! Pity those of us without instagram can’t enter your competitions though. 😒
spearedmongrel get insta you don’t have to use it but there is a lot of cool stuff , edc and bunch of knife content
Veryyyy nice Spyderco is really. Bad ass
Nerd alert. I’m the nerd. What pants is the guest wearing. Those look like great summer pants!
Also would love to know what the pants are. And the shirt as well! Thanks
I miss ben that salt video was amazing
My fishing knife needs to be able to filet a fish cut threw 1/3 inch thick bone and be able to cut open aluminum cans and be able to cut braded fishing line also at once
Kurt! We’re fighting right now. It was my birfday during the last WOW and I needed a shoutout from the Hamsharks... tears. That floating Mora though. I don’t have a Mora yet and that just jumped right up the list lol. Hope you guys are doing well and staying safe! Thanks for keeping us entertained!
XXL Dessert Warrior for President
Would love to know what pants and shirt Cortney is wearing. Both are sweet. Great video!. Thanks!
I have the spyderco enuff in h1 attached to my pfd for my fishing kayaking trips and I love that knife.
@bladehq you should have asked the fisherman what he usually carries. His pocket dump. Be interesting to see what he actually uses.
Best leatherman for saltwater? Needs to have scissors for cutting braided line. One handed operating is a plus
"Would you carry this huge filet knife while fly fishing?" Personally I'd be sporting that if I was cleaning a Whale or a Great White!!!!! As far as a Beaver, Brazilian is the way to go. She'll respect you for it! Ha Ha Ha
Why no Spyderco siren or waterway ?
Where is this creek?
What happened to this giveaway? They haven't announced it or given us any information at all.
do you ship to finland i realy need to know
Blade HQ can do deliveries to South Africa
Why do most fillet knives use steel with such terrible edge retention?
