    Hello LaMes farms.
    I love your usual up beat intro music to your videos. Are you making a change?
    You are right about the dedication to Organic farming and the work involved, I’ve been around it before, and it can be exhausting.
    A family team as you have, is essential.
    More recently in our area, there has been a shift to more natural farming. Not so much organic, but implementing tactics around soil health. I have mentioned using cover crops in the fall of the year, this is to keep the soil healthy by maintaining microbial activity as long as possible to set up a favorable spring planting environment. Yes, synthetic fertilizers and chemicals may and still are used, but with a truly healthier soil, the dependency on them is reduced, sometimes significantly.

      I actually just wanted a mellow feeling at the start hehe... Does it sounds sad?
      Yes spending more time on the farm is essential for real especially if business is involved... Farming is peaceful when you just do it to feed your family, i mean when you just eat what you grow... It becomes stressful and gives a bit of pressure when you do it for business 😁
      But the common denominator is the passion for farming. We are able to reach our goals in farming because of the passion that keeps us going.

      @@LGR605 it also depends on the region...some can have several harvests a year...but some rest in between is important. That is why making your own IMO helps dramatically to boost soilhealth

    Have to ask as well...how does a rooster make a difference?

    • @LGR605
      @LGR605 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I don’t know if this applies to roosters or not, but as a small hog producer years ago, I would select boars from a university test station in my area. They had measurements and carcass data on animals via ultrasound. Along with this there was feed conversion/growth rate results. The hope is that by selecting animals with certain characteristics, I could improve my end product more efficiently and profitably.

    • @LaMesNaturalFarm
      @LaMesNaturalFarm  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Even the feed protein wont reach 19%, hens can still lay eggs when the rooster is present. And that should be the practice in natural farming of eggs. Have you tried eating a fertilized egg??

    • @LaMesNaturalFarm
      @LaMesNaturalFarm  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes, selection is very important but here in our area we do not have the technology so the selection will be based on the performance of the mother chickens where chicks come from.
