Just wanted to say thanks for all the time and effort you put into making this series of videos, they've been very helpful for me. I'm not into knives, but I do make small engineering projects and I've been thinking of building a steel tempering oven for some time. I stumbled across your vids when I was doing research and you've inspired me to get on and do it! There's a wealth of useful information here. Thank you!
The problem with making a 'tall' oven may be heat gradient over the increased height. As we all know, warm air rises, and in a case of 850'C+ temperatures, the air will be very determined to rise and possibly escape. This problem will be exaggerated by the increased height. It may be better to build a long horizontal oven, but attach castor wheels to the back bottom corner of it, so you could stand it upright for storage when not in use!
I have a small cube kiln for knives and small parts. What do you think of a deep kiln built "tall" wise >? I'm thinking of hanging swords and axle shafts/ sway bars. A chain fall would be needed to pull parts as the heat would LOVE a top door.

Hello. Do you know how much it cost to build the kiln? Great video.
Because I saw that you are in UK. Do you selling them and how much?
where did you buy your bricks from?
I close my eyes and hear Michael Kitchener..
Well, I have no idea who Michael Kitchener is, but I'll take it as a compliment! Thanks for watching!
