You don't see that level of craftsmanship these days, that oven will last centuries. I'm pretty sure that you could make a pizza one day and it will still be hot weeks afterward. I particularly like the pivot stick you used laying in the firebrick to make the dome. Pure genius.
Oh YES! Hubby found this via random, imo serendipity scroll, I was utterly enchanted! It brought cherished memories of when my dear grandfather, a full time farmer, he still always had building, projects going; from an smoke/curing house, a still for maple syrup, another for apple cider, fire pit(s) at all the family homes/cottages. A favourite memory was the HUGE outdoor, deep fry kettle set-up at the family cottage, as whilst it was made to cook HUGE masses of fish caught by family after an entire day on the lake, the irony is we also used it for turkey decades before it was even a 'thing'! My Grandpa and Uncle Hajji are the epitome of genuine craftsmen, whilst eshewing unsafe, cobbled contraptions of cheap odds/ends, are dedicated to sharing proper workmanship, precise techniques, strict attention to detail, no skipping or cutting corners. Even hidden, unseen parts were crafted beautifully with as much devotion if creating a gift for royalty. I last saw my beloved, sadly missed grandpa, whilst he was stood on roof repairing the chimney, at 98 yrs old! The admiration, appreciation I have for this is so pure, as whilst I can no longer manage alone on my own wildlife, rehab, sanctuary garden, using similar skills, from wattle & daub, weaving, willow, vines, hedge laying, dry stone walls, by knowing Uncle Hajji is still sharing, teaching these beautiful, almost lost art, endangered techniques, is so heart warming and inspiring:) much love and warm karma to all, Elizabeth aka Ladybudd

A word to the young people watching this video. If you need someone to look up to in your life's journey you've found it here. This man like myself has worked hard his entire life. For us pain is an old friend to be embraced so we can continue to do what we love and create things of worth and beauty for others to enjoy. Within this we truly have a satisfaction worth more than the money we've made. He's an inspiration for me and a role model for the young people looking to spend their lives doing something they love.

WOW! That oven is amazing! You can cook your favourite food in it, use it as a shelter to survive the coldest Siberian winter and probably use it as a bunker in the event of a nuclear attack. Nice! Honestly though, that is truly a fantastic job :)
Congratulations! You are the master of the Masters! I, too, would love to learn from such a story, even though I am an electrical engineer. But it is more important, more useful work because it serves everyday life and is even beautiful! (Though I love, I’ve been doing my job for over 40 years.) Among the Hungarian people, the oven has an ancient tradition and is one of the most important parts of everyday life.

Дедуля молодец, однозначно. Здоровья ему на долгие годы. Но что-то в его печке не продумано. Тяга плохая. Дым идёт в окно и арка вся уже закопчена. Кирпич на арке долго не простоит...
И вы приметили? Дым валит из печи вон. Печь сложена не правильно. Такая ситуация была у меня в доме, искали другого печника и перекладывали печь. А в остальном дедуля молодец!!!!!

WOW! That oven is amazing! You can cook your favourite food in it, use it as a shelter to survive the coldest Siberian winter and probably use it as a bunker in the event of a nuclear attack. Nice! Honestly though, that is truly a fantastic job :)
Congratulations! You are the master of the Masters! I, too, would love to learn from such a story, even though I am an electrical engineer. But it is more important, more useful work because it serves everyday life and is even beautiful! (Though I love, I’ve been doing my job for over 40 years.) Among the Hungarian people, the oven has an ancient tradition and is one of the most important parts of everyday life.

1min into watching this vid - I'm feeling inspired to give this a go. 2min later - confidence waning, 4min in, ok definitely outside my skillset. By the end of this vid, the old man built an epic monument. I give up..I'm impressed though with ol man though

Дедуля молодец, однозначно. Здоровья ему на долгие годы. Но что-то в его печке не продумано. Тяга плохая. Дым идёт в окно и арка вся уже закопчена. Кирпич на арке долго не простоит...
И вы приметили? Дым валит из печи вон. Печь сложена не правильно. Такая ситуация была у меня в доме, искали другого печника и перекладывали печь. А в остальном дедуля молодец!!!!!
Он кайф получает от работы.а эффект .....? Обидно.
ассаламу алайкум.чтоб не коптило,,дым валило наружу через топку,,надо было арку лицевую опустить ниже на 10-15сантиметров.чтобы дым уходил в трубу
в Помпейской печи это нормально, пока не прогреется, у меня так же. Дед трудяга, молодец!
