A way they could make pinball mire(in time trial) more fun is making so that the pinball parts optional but give you shitloads of extra time, only usefull if you're decent enough at pinball Kinda like what they did with cinnamon spring with the cannons but with risk and reward
I feel like this mode would be better you were racing against the happy hour throughout the entire level and destroying crates would add to the timer instead of freezing it, kinda like pizza tower's war
I dunno if this is a hot take but I'm not fond of the time trials in this game. I hate the trial and error with knowing which areas have time crates and which ones are worth going for. I'd rather just take the fastest route through the level. Crimson Factory in particular has barely any margin for error, miss one too many crates and the entire attempt is wasted.
@SirigueijoCoisado i looked at how many players got the 'all par times' achievement and it's less than 1%. In comparison, a similar achievement for Grapple Dogs: Cosmic Canines (another 2d platformer i have played) has around 13% of players who've achieved it.
It makes you go after the most time boxes you can get rather than actually going fast in the level. This worked in the original Crash Bandicoot levels because the level design was more linear and all you had to do was be quick enough to finish The level as fast as possible while also breaking the time boxes in your way, while missing at least one could just ruin your run as there were at least Time Relics you'd get for the best 3 times you can beat the level, so you have to replay a lot to make sure you're going quick enough and don't miss any of them. This game has a much bigger focus on exploration and backtracking, which means you have to enter a lot more rooms or go into inconvenient paths just to get the boxes instead of staying on track for the fastest run. In the end this is more like "break as much as you can and run into as much dead ends as you can to get a time below 0" than "run as fast as you can to get a low time". If anything, those boxes could be reused for a different mode where you HAVE to look for them to stop a timer that's counting down and kills you when it reaches 0.
Dang, I had the exact opposite reaction. This is the first time I've actually enjoyed a time trial mode in a game. I like the layer of experimentation and strategy it adds! It feels great when you risk hitting up a secret or taking on a difficult optional challenge and are rewarded with extra time for doing so. I think it's really cool that there's more to it than just getting from Point A to B as fast as possible.
@chandlersparkman3162 i prefer the simplicity of just getting to A to B as fast as possible with no distractions. When playing normally i already like to go for the side areas for fun so Antonblast's time trials arent that different from a regular play but with a timer. That said I'd probably be more tolerant of time trial if the par times were at least loosened somewhat.
Yeah, in The Big Bath, the Timer stops in 180 seconds (3 minutes) , I imagine that due to the strange nature of the Poolrooms level. In fact, if you're fast enough, you can achieve a time trial of 0 seconds

Don't get me wrong, I like this game, especially with the concept of "CRACKED" stages, but the par times here feel so strict that you have to be a WR speedrunner just to have a chance at them.
Funny enough I actually enjoy pinball mire. You do have to trial and error some of the shots but once you get the heart switch you can kinda just let go of the controls and you can slide into the other switches.

@crunchyfreeze i tried that, and it turned out to be correct. U can't do ANYTHING as paul. They made it as cheating due to him being so fast.
