I'm legitimately glad the OP was able to reconcile with their mother after the fallout since I believed out of all the burned bridges I thought the mother deserved a bit of leeway considering the amount of regret she had after the fact. Of course that wouldn't be possible without the video evidence that OP that was, if anything, the main reason they still get to have a relationship with their mother is because they decided to record everything the moment walked into the house to find 2 of the closes people in their life cheating. They're strong I give them that but I hope things get better for them in the future and restore some semblance of the past relationship with their mom.

there’s a pattern in the stories this episode. everything starts making sense in the second half of the story. i couldn’t understand why avery was able to get away with half of what he did. it was because his father enabled him, which has now contributed to both of his divorces. the weight loss guy’s story makes a lot mores sense when his parents’s negligence and their creation of an environment that made his obesity pretty much inevitable come into the picture.

Story 1: Avery was a monster and the trash took itself out. After he intentionally kidnapped OP’s cat and intentionally abandoned it at a high kill shelter, I lost any sympathy for Avery. His parents were failures and responsible for everything Avery did.
Story 2: OP’s ex is a narcissistic monster and should be outed to the entire community as an adulterer and a spousal abuser. OP needs to severe this cancer from her life. Forgiveness in this situation is weakness, anyone saying otherwise is either a flying monkey or a floormat in denial. Lastly, an obstinate ex cannot stop a divorce. OP can look up the grounds for divorce, leave for a year, then file a petition for divorce and serve the petition through the sheriff or even notice by publication if OP leaves the state. If OP’s ex doesn’t participate, oh well, just file a motion to hold the hearing for divorce on a motions day and finish it.
Story 3: OP should post the video on social media with the ex and the sperm donor tagged and send it to their friends, family, and coworkers. OP needs to go thermonuclear. OP should never forgive El, the sperm donor, nor the egg donor. What they did is unforgivable.
Story 4: OP’s parents are within their rights to force their kid, a minor, to the fat camp.

Best thing I can recommend as someone working on losing weight. When it comes to the physical activity side, start small. Do your best to try and find small bits of physical activity that you can enjoy, even if it's just a walk around the block a few days a week.
Food is the fun part. Experiment with some new healthier meals. Again, the most important part is to find something you like.
Now for medical. During your next visit, it doesn't hurt to ask for more options when it comes to the medication you take and see if there is something that won't contribute as much to weight gain.

Man, he's 280 pound at 14 years old, when his parents can still try to force him to treat his body better, and he's actively sabotaging his own health. The more he spoke, the more he sounded like an addict, believing the drug doesn't hinder his life style, that he can handle just fine since he can (still) do what he likes and is "active", he doesn't care about future health problems...
I'd use reverse psychology, honestly: every meal would be a mukbang (Google it!) until he either be resonable or reach 600 lbs. By then "Eric Cartman" would be 18 and on his own to solve the problem, including medical bills.
PS: Have been on diets most of my life, do exercise, control my food, but have anxiety spikes and lose control. Family genes don't help either. I understand what is to think like him, been there, done that, regreted bitterly.

For anyone like the 15 year old sees this.. You can do self aqua therapy to start and that will let you walk without gravity hurting you. If you are ashamed of your body, you can get a tailor to make you a swim shorts and pants. Ladies can get a "burqini" which covers you from your ankles to your wrists, and some comes with a swim skirt if you want it. You can then exercise in the pool.. careful though as your swimsuit and body will feel much heavier when you get out, but you'll be okay in a few minutes.

That last story.. I have struggled with the opposite problem in terms of weight. Both in terms of actually eating and putting weight on. Its rare if any that I actually feel hungry. ( Even then I admit I am not sure if its hunger or something else that I feel. I have struggled with understanding what I feel since some things that had happened to me when I was a kid. )
Different struggles, yes.. But it is something that makes me think of how sometimes we do not fully see how bad it really is till you get a serious health scare like that person did. ( For me I know why I am the way I am, its understanding the other bits that tend to cause problems for me. )

    To the chubby OP.
As the fat person from my own past I can only say: Change comes from within, you need to want to change. I had to hit 124kg to get to rock bottom after always being in pain constantly, having skin sores and pimples never healing, had sleep apnea that got worse, as well as slowly problems cleaning myself as well as getting fluids in my legs - it was THAT bad - I'm brutally honest there. I was being denied at a clinic for Eating Discorders and being told by a ED therapist without a bypass I'll never loose weight, actually took her words as fuel for me to cling on.
Lost 42 kilo since 2022 and even though it got harder to loose now I still keep on it. For heavily overweight people I can just say: try more lentils and LCHF, go on walks and do light and easy stretching routines. Tiny walks first then longer ones over time. I wasn't able to move around my house without a break at the start, now I walk the length of several subway stations without breaking a sweat.
And start slowly integrating these changes, you want to form habits and not force yourself on these things. Learning to cook is essential but it is fun once you started and stuff tastes edible.
Don't deprive yourself of things you like but know are not good for yourself. Just...in smaller and rarer portions. I still eat out, I still consume sweets but very rarely. And I am fine. I stopped thinking about these things by now. Also water. Drink more water and if possible black coffee instead of milk one. Hard at the start but at some point it tastes good. I vow for that xD
The last time I felt that alive and happy about my body was when I was 10 years old and that is sadly not exaggerated. I can finally do stuff again and be a fun friend to be active with.
Sometiems it needs time to realize what you want for yourself but thinking about food all the time is sadly not really right. I know that well as an emotional eater who got her support and happiness from food instead of myself and my environment. I will always recommend therapy. Maybe depth psychology therapy first to figure out where this comes from. If therapy is out of your options there are the Overeater-Anonymous. Becuase yes, food can be an addiction and it might be the worst to catch too.
I hope OP can realize he is worth to be happy and also healthy and that these few missing years in the future DO matter when you get there. I thought that way too.
To anyone who might be relating there. I believe in you, you are all worthy of love, happiness and well-being.❤

It's stories like the second that just pisses me off. Like her whole town, family, and husband is why so meny people hate us Christians. #1 in the Bible it is said that adultery is a sin. It is also in the Bible that whenever a family is blessed with a child it is from the mother herself. Not from a dead affair partner the husband had no reason to have an affair with. It is also said that you should forgive others. But God never said that you should forgive others but stay around the person who hurt you. These people are using the word in terrible ways. Especially because this never happened to them. I hate when a Christian does wrong to another Christian they use the Bible as like a ball and chain. Taking no responsibility for their actions and claiming God would want it that way. If God really wanted us to stay around people who would drag us down he take people out of relationships that are terrible in the first place. I hope she didn't lose her faith because of the crappy person her husband is and the basic abuse of the gospel her town runs under.

The fat camp story is sad. They were lucky they weren’t sent to one of the abusive camps.
Some of the health stuff is exaggerated. For example: my stepmother is fat and apparently losing weight will solve her chronic bronchitis. No. No it won’t. But most of the exaggeration is in the doctors attributing everything to weight and ignoring any other symptoms. It’s how other health issues go under the radar until it’s too late. This also happens with other lifestyle illnesses. Some people are naturally thin and eat junk and sit around. They’re at a crazy risk for heart disease and diabetes and the like and doctors don’t look for it.
In the end, take care of yourself as much as you can. Regardless of weight , you can get sick from poor habits. That’s the danger of the discrimination. Please stay safe y’all.

If someone doesn't want to be "improved" by other people's metrics, then it's their prerogative to refuse and deny attempts at coercion, manipulation, shaming, and other harmful tactics.
He seems reasonably intelligent and eloquent, and applied peaceful non-compliance in a practical way, which is something the vast majority of people, child or adult, refuse to do. Most people who face manipulation, coercion, shaming, and hostility react with active hostility or at least aggressive pettiness.
It is possible to manage one's weight in a healthy and constructive way without the input of people whose entire careers seem built around negative tactics like using shame and coercion to force teens with weight problems to submit.
The important thing with weight issues is managing one's health and body in healthy ways. No one ever feels better when they're SHAMED or coerced or manipulated into thinking they're less-than until they're skinny. Fat camps are not as notorious as anti-gay conversion camps, but most of the methods (Shame, coercion, torture) are the same.
Good on this kid for reacting in a way that sends the message that he will not be coerced, manipulated, or shamed into compliance with other people's evaluation of what he SHOULD be.

For the first part, the camp stuff is... Well intentioned but still fucked up. You can't force something like that on a teenager. As another commentor said, "Change comes from within". To start his healthy lifestyle, he needs to understand why it's dangerous and take baby steps towards his own personal goals. I can understand why a teenager would feel unloved if they were suddenly pushed into something without any warning or consideration, like they aren't good enough the way they are.
