    Went to NMU 1988-1992. LOVED it! I am a nurse practitioner; if MI was an independent practice state, I would definitely move back. As it stands now, South Dakota here I come! ❤

      Thanks for sharing! South Dakota is a fun state as well! I spent some time living in North Dakota and made frequent trips down to Rapid City, Spearfish area!

    Marquette is lovely. It is the perfect locale for the active person. Trails for hiking and biking and cross country skiing, trout fishing in the rivers, hunting, climbing, etc.

    I grew up outside of Marquette until I was 13. Amazing memories, swimming in lake superior almost everyday in the summers. I would like to make it back one day

      Yup! I also grew up just outside of Detroit down by the ski hill. It certainly is great having the big lake there to cool you off!

    Thunder Bay , snowmobiling , ride the Luge , 18 miles of one way trails , you can FLY ! 9200 acre pine tree plantation at the end of the trail before you head for Munising , nice place to powder ride for the long track guys

    Coming from someone who has been looking to try and move that way, my complaint would be that cost of housing is to much compared to what jobs seem to pay in the area.

    • @LivingInMarquetteMichigan
      @LivingInMarquetteMichigan  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is very real! There’s not much for job availability in the area and many just don’t pay enough to support the cost of living!

    Longest state to drive corner to corner , 900 plus miles , from the bottom eastern side of the lower peninsula , to the western side of the U.P. And the U.P. Has 1700 miles of coast line , the whole east coast has about 2000

    We were thinking of visiting during the summer. Are there decent hotels to stay in? We`re talking 2 weeks in late July. I guess that`s a busy season up there?

    • @LivingInMarquetteMichigan
      @LivingInMarquetteMichigan  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for commenting! For sure, July is typically one of the busier times of the year! There are several good hotels in the area, with many of them being newer. You may want to look at some options sooner than later to assure you have your preferred room! There’s some nice cabins to stay at the Rippling River Resort too if you wanted that option. Enjoy and reach out if there’s anything I can do for you!

      There’s a plethora of hotels and motels depending on how close to town you want to be. To start, there’s a cluster of hotels on each side of US41 past Walmart going towards town. Including Comfort Suites, MyPlace, Days inn and Comfort Inn. In town we have Ramada Inn, and Holiday Inn. Then on the more expensive side there’s a hotel right on the lakeshore near the ore dock!

    It is extremely guy-ish here; hunting, fishing, hiking, etc. If you're girly and like pink sparkly shopping malls and modern anything... good luck.

    • @LivingInMarquetteMichigan
      @LivingInMarquetteMichigan  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Certainly not much for shopping malls here! Amazon prime also isn’t instant like it is in some urban areas.

    Hi
    I enjoyed your video. I am planning to move to Marquette Michigan. I will contact you. Your video was informative and helpful. Housing is really important. I wanted to build a log cabin or new construction. Also healthcare. I am a retired veteran that went to college in Troll country but have been traveling all over. I am ready to come home now so I will call you

    Also becoming like traverse city. I lived away in San Diego of course came home. It’s sad to see Marquette turning into traverse city. Where the condos are now and hotels used to be little hidden beaches and trees. When you came home from traveling you could see beautiful Lake Superior. And you would say to yourself, I am home. Now it’s blocked by ugly hotels and condos. A liberal nightmare too.

    Marquette is beautiful and is a great place if you are young, athletic, and have family there. However, if you travel a lot this is probably not the best place for you. You are somewhat off the Grid. Not the best for retirees since Hospitals and health care services are somewhat distant. Reportedly, the Northern Lights are sometimes visible in solar flare years, if skies are clear. No guarantee though. Great place to vacation in July and August.

      It can be, it’s all relative to what you’re used to or where you’re coming from! It’s definitely much worse than what most of us are accustomed to locally.

    i sincerely dislike everything abt this channel. i understand he's doing a job he's doing this for money not for malice, but oh my god the cost of everything here is already so high so PLEASE don't even consider moving up here. if you wanna be by lake superior so bad go to minnesota where the economy won't implode with an addition of 5 more people.

      I can tell you my little channel isn’t bringing people in! People are already moving here and looking for information on the area! It’s a beautiful place, but it’s not a place for everyone as I point out in the channel. Thanks for watching!

    Im thinking of moving there im in my late 20s and single so I cant imagine it would be terribly hard for me. I just want to get away from LP but I dont want to live outside of Michigan. Greatest state in the Union. Im a blue collar kid so if i can land a job along those lines i think id be okay.
