Thank you thank you thank you for this video! I have 2 Provocraft Silent Setters and also the Crop a Dile 2. But all of my elelets are the kind without splits and my Crop a Dile was eating them up. Your tutorial on the Silent Setter has saved the day! I CAN use these eyelets without splits on them. Yay!!!
My mom had given this to me for my birthday last year, and I either threw out the directions, or it didn't come with any! When it came time to actually use it, I had no idea how, but figured TH-cam would come through with something for me. Thanks so much for the informative video! I'll be using eyelets in a lot more of my crafts from now on. :)
I watch your video every time I use my Silent Setter. You have made it quick and with perfect instruction. Thank you so much. Every time I watch this I send a similar comment. God bless!
I've owned this thing for about 4 years and never knew how to use it because it had no directions. I was reminded to look out up on TH-cam. Now I know how to use it. Thanks for posting!
Thanks to you I chose this one. The crack o rock-idilian? was more than I wanted to invest not knowing how often I would use it. No need to purchase a separate holder is an added bonus. The hardest part was figuring out eyelet sizes but at least you’re not limited to only one with this tool. Thank you for the helpful information! Edit: Wow-with over 52 thousand views I wasn’t the only one undecided.
Yes this one will set 3 different sizes. Alhough the Cropodile will too! But this one isn't limited to only and inch or so from the edge of the paper! Hope you enjoy using your purchase. Thanks for leaving a comment.
I've had one of those in my closet for a couple years. I didn't now what it was for. I my God this is so Kool. I Love it, I'm gonna give it good use. Yaaaaa Thank you for the explaining on how to use. 👍
THANK YOU for this demo... I received the silent setter as someone was getting rid of their scrapbooking stuff and this was one of them... no instructions so this was perfect for how to use it ... which I will!! Thanks again.
It's amazing how often I have to watch your video. I don't use eyelets often, but I'm thinking I should so I can practice. I've had this tool for years and just this past year, I've used it on Shrinky Dinks. Of course, I forget about the Setter here and there. Good grief, you gave me more ideas and I'm super grateful. I hope you're staying healthy and safe. Thanks so much for this brief yet thorough tutorial!!
Hi there, thanks ever so much for leaving a comment. I am really pleased that this video helps you. All are healthy here, thank you, and I hope you are staying safe too. Covid for me has meant a return to crafting in a big way... as I am teaching craft workshops again after a long spell away... a silver lining to our strange times perhaps! I hope to post new videos again soon too!
Thanks a whole bunch for the instructions. I've had the Silent Setter for years and want to use it...now. Geesh! I couldn't figure out the punches and setters. I didn't realize until your video, there are different sizes of eyelets either. What a relief to find you!
Thanks. I'm glad I gave you a smile. We need them more now. I used the Silent Setter for Shrinky Dinks. I usually punch a hole with the standard hole punch for charms etc. I made a shrink dog tag with the SS making the hole stronger. That's the only part that wears out over time. A wonderful find because of you. I've had this for years. I'm so glad I still have it. I've decided I will do charms, keychains and tags🤗 with this great tool. Once again, thank you and stay well and safe. Cathey D.
I had been debating whether or not to get this product. Your video just convinced me that this is just what I need for my craft collection! Thank you so much for demonstrating the use of the silent eyelet setter!
I only clicked on this to see what a 'silent setter' was, but I ended up watching a lot of it because of your great hands and very feminine voice. Silly I know, but there we are. You should do more videos.

very usefull, thank you so much! Been looking on the internet for more information about how to use it but couldnt find it. I'm convinced, I'm off to buy one!
Hi, Enjoyed the video also, very well presented! Can the Silent Setter be used on other materials such as fabric, felt, chipboard etc? Or is it just limited to paper crafts? Thanks...
+DebZ R I have used it on chipboard, however, you need a fair amount of pressure to cut through... how are your biceps?!! As for fabric and felt... if you have a fairly new cutter, then you can go through single layers, but as the blade dulls over time of use, if your fabric is not stiff cotton etc, it will most likely just pull it around, a tip is to stick the material to a low tack tape before cutting to steady it.. If you plan to cut a large amount of things other than scrapbooking card and paper I suggest you go for a Cropodile. I have reviewed that too... th-cam.com/video/L7lUCPaWNlk/w-d-xo.html Hope that helps.
Have you ever used this on multiple pieces of paper at the same time? I'm a book maker and I hand-punch every hole in the pages of my books. Currently, I use the hammer style and I make a ton of noise in doing so. If this worked well on, say, 3-4 pieces of paper at a time, then I'm going out and buying one today!
@canibeyou Realize your comment is old, but wanted to comment on it anyway, in case someone wonders of the same: It really depends on the thickness of the paper that, easily pushes through. Probably 5-8 regular copy papers u use for the printer. But only a couple cardboards, and like 3-4 cardstocks like bazzill, but this is with a lot of heavy pressure - in my experience anyways.. My hands are not made for that kind of pressure *lol* Been using this for 6-7 years now and still works like cutting in butter! :)
Hello Canibeyou, I didn't see you comment when you posted it, only just seen it due to Tindaloo76's comment. You've probably already made a purchase for your books by now, but I would invest in a Cropodile for large quantities of papers where the holes are no more than one inch into the paper it will easily punch through 30 sheets in one go (80gsm paper) and has an adjustable guide so you know the holes are exactly the same measurement away from the edge of the paper. I have posted a review of the cropodile... Review of the Crop-a-Dile by SundayL
Hello Barbara, as this tutorial is over 12 years old, I believe Provo Craft have stopped making this tool ! If you seach for 'silent setter' you will most likely find some second hand ones. Most recent reviews for this video have been from people who have been given a Silent Setter or bought a used one from Ebay for instance. Hope that helps.😊
Hi there... it will be very difficult to punch through grey board using the Silent Setter... you would be better off with a Crop-o-dile for that (I have reviewed that tool as well). You could force it through if you're desperate but you'd have to apply a fair amount of force with your arm and much twisting! Besides which the standard brads for use with this tool would most likely not be long enough to grab the backside of the greyboard properly you'd have to use ones which are deeper. Hope that helps
I love my Silent SEtter but need to order more eyelets and am at a loss on the sizes to get. Also, most of the eyelets I see don't have the notches like in the kit or they are the ones with washers for the backside. I am wondering if any eyelet with work with this kit. Can you help?.
Hello Jeanne... the sizes of the eyelets should be embossed into the heads of the setter... haven't got mine to hand... but I think 1/8th inch, quarter inch and (possibly) 1/16th inch sizes. As long as you get scrapbooking eyelets they should be ok for the setter as 'should' be soft eniugh metal to 'split' at the back when using. Just be careful as some eyelets can be really hard metal and are difficult for even the Crop-o-dile sometimes😊
@@JeanneDoyon No you can't as the setter uses 'self setting' eyelets if you know what I mean. The eyelets with 'backs' need to be pinched from both sides.
