AMD shouldn't be targeting the 4070. The card is a complete balanced. I wouldn't mind paying extra hundred for a 4070 tbh, and in real time scenarios both 7800xt and 4070 are priced the same in most other countries. Even we compare them with their real MSRP, 4070 is still much more preferable because of its way better tech, efficiency, reliability. Edit: AMD should be targeting 4060 ti ,4070ti instead.
@@MrToastyYT i don't think so. The quality of illumination and shadows is not the point. The point of ray tracing is a real movement of this. In rasterization is not naturally. but when u pair amd card with amd cpu, u will get same perfomance on 7700xt as 4070. i have both cards. i can tell you they are same in games, but not in benchmarks!
Controversial take from me, can you add one more test using FSR/DLSS for each card and show the difference? People spend $450 or $600 for the software as well. I know pure rasterization is important but the uplift from respective sharpening tech is just as important.
With respect to performance they are on par but just look at the Wattage consumption. Nvidia surely is more power efficient. Electricity bills on long run will overcome the price.
This depends on the owner and how long till they upgrade. They have a very small gap in power efficiency that it needs maybe a year or two to even out the price of the two wheb bought but again depends on your country. If you have an expensive electricity that 245 vs 200w doesn't mean much because they're both gonna up your bills crazily

Neither can do RT at a playable frame-rate so why show it? If you want RT it starts at 4070ti or 7900xt. Honest opinion is it is not worth the fps drop on any current gen GPU and will not be viable for another 2-3 generations. Buying a GPU for RT is a very bad way to select one. Rasterization is still king and what should be used. Also power usage should only be a factor if you have a PSU too small and cannot afford a new one or your stressing over paying an extra 5 dollars a year in power from usage. Both AMD and Nvidia GPU"s(I own both) give you the same experience and ar great. I also do not notice any difference between DLSS and FSR while gaming, only when watching reviews that zoom into the edges and put the screens side by side. And even then it is not a big difference and you will not be able to tell. People that claim one is better or worse has a agenda to why there saying that. the rx770xt is not a bad card, here in chile in particular the most basic model of rx7700xt the pulse is around 300 USD cheaper than basic no bells and whistles RTX 4070. and is around 40 USD more than the chepaest 16 gb RTX 4060ti if you manage to find one. Lol $600 for the 4070 my asscrack. When I got mine when it came out here in the US it was like $800, the 4080 is still like $1,200 or more, and the 4090 is still $2,000 to $3,000. The only cards that you can get for MSRP can be bought on AMD's website, like idk why everyone isn't using the RX 7600. The thing is $269 brand new, and they go on sale at least once every month or so. I was able to get one from AMD directly for $200, I think it was like $218 total after taxes and fees. When you consider that the RX 7600 is better than the 4060 in many games, (Don't come here and try to spout about cherry picked benchmarks using Nvidia Optimized or PlayStation ports, games like Assassin's Creed, The Last of Us, Spiderman, etc) I hate that there's such a huge amount of people who claim to be enthusiasts, but still carry around the myth that AMD is some horrible company or that their drivers are horrible, or whatever. But it is funny that when you ask the majority of people who use AMD cards, they all say they have 0 problems with them. Then every so often someone will show up and say they have some AMD card and its horrible and whatever, but then every time I have looked into it, it turned out they were lying through their teeth, and they didn't even own a computer, much less a gaming PC using an RX 7000 series GPU, lololol. I can't even tell you how many people I have caught lying about what they have. It’s shame that AMD is not in priority to improve RT performance with a new generation of cards, or they are simply unable to do so with financing or topology implementation if otherwise. They probably bet on fsr 3, so maybe indeed it will be great in ray tracing performance at some point and want consumers to believe in that 😅
well its hard to compete against the company introducing it and is already one gen further...if amd could leapfrog that they would but it aint possible
RT is shit for today and in the near future. The technology is still working terribly and does not even come close to making realistic behavior of light and reflections. It's still mostly fake reflections and light. And no video card is capable of pulling even an existing RT without using dlss or fsr. Even 4090. And these technologies of upscaling and frame generation only spoil and blur the picture and do not give a good image in native resolution. I'm already silent about ghosting effects and artifacts. It's much better to have a clean performance at the moment. Maybe in a few years, when these technologies reach good quality, they will make sense. But not now.

Plus the software side like Geforce now and Nvidia Broadcast. Using Nvidia broadcast to remove the background wothout needing a greenscreen has been great for me. Pros and cons of both AMD and Nvidia.
@@han-sooyoungnot are technically comparables, DLSS uses dedicated processors en the gpu, and looks like native resolution without more latency, and can activate at time DLSS and FG, and the latency still continue good, make this in the Amd cards, fsr and fg, make the games unplayables for the high latency and input lag.
AMD: 30W higher power draw, higher frametimes, worse raytracing performance, 5-10% lower framerate. Nvidia: 170€ more expensive in my country. I'd say 170€ for those features is A LOT. So AMD still wins for me.
You dont see smoothness you feel it. from 70 fps to something like 100 or 120 fps is a huge difference in smoothness. However I will say that it's all about frame time. The important thing is no jitters
So if you wants to build a computer, you chooses RX for better value? I am so clueless and not into specs but I´m ready to spend big on a gaming computer. For me 10 FPS drop is nothing.
AMD Cards is not that efficient anymore when it comes to energy. Good call for Nvidia for improving their cards and having a more power efficient cards.
According to AMD, the 7800 consumes 263 watts. The RX 7700 is almost identical to the 4070 but cheaper. Don't listen to companies; look at the specs. Just like AMD, Nvidia could launch 4070s and say, 'Oh well, according to us, the new 4070 is made to compete with the 7650 XT.' It would make no sense.
In the UK "Overclocker UK" the average price of the 4070 "low to high" is £685, the average price of the 7700XT "again "low to high" is £475 and yes the RT in the 4070 is better but it aint worth the hit. Sensible buyers will always use pure rastor as their starting point.
RT is fine and all, but to me its not worth the hit on performance(even on Nvidia), not the mention that games with RT features are usually poorly implemented and the good ones you can count on 1 hand. I would give it another 5 years until RT is really worth considering when buying a GPU. DLSS is good tho, but i hate it because devs will cheap out on optimization because of it.
Damn dude. I wish I would have looked at the RX 7700 XT before buying an RTX 4070 when it Launched. I literally paid like $800 for a card that trades blows with a fuckin $450 card. And I dont give a rats ass about RT or DLSS, RT barely makes a visual difference in MOST games, and DLSS when you have a 1440p monitor looks like absolute ass, plus there are literally like 10 other Super Sampling options out there, and frankly out of all of the ones I used, the best one so far is definitely Intel XeSS. It looks the best out of the Nvidia DLSS, AMD FSR, and the other Nvidia open source DLSS version they have. It gets a couple less frames, but the visual quality is a lot better. Still looks like shit compared to just running native 1080p or 1440p though. Everything looks blurry and shit. Honestly, unless you have at minimum a 4k or 8k screen, Super Sampling is just stupid as fuck. And even then, you should never use it unless you are getting less than 55 FPS. Otherwise, it is literally the most useless "Feature" on the planet. I could see if you have a SUPER old GPU and cant run games at 720p so you decide to upscale it, but then you can not even use DLSS and you have to use AMD FSR 2.0 or 3.0 or use Intel XeSS. So, DLSS as an argument to buy a new GPU is only used by idiots and people who have never even used the shit. Same with Ray Tracing, i8ts a bit better but honestly most games look better without it or you cant tell the difference.
Yes but again, benchmarking while walking on a straight line doesn't provide realistic results. Go into town, start a mission for a moment and it will be entirely different.
Today I bought a new 4070 for $480, while the rx 7700 xt costs $40 more. I really wanted to buy a video card from AMD, but I’m not going to pay more (in Russia)

My PSU is 500W so even though im on Team AMD and have been rocking a rx 6650xt for a year now, the 4070 would just fit better because it uses so much less wattage and i save money because i dont have to buy a new PSU
Got all the raw power working but you have everything that makes the 4070 better turned off. Turn on everything then try....10-15% difference I bet. Then the overclocking....say no more
It needs to be $420 and 420euro in order to make sense outside of the RX 7800xt. For just $50 you are getting at least 17% more performance with the 7800xt
People can correct me if im wrong but I think he is using a card model that has higher OC speed which uses more power. The power draw might be lower or the same as a 4070 if its a default stock card. That shows how good the 7700 XT really is, for it's price
Considering these are the highest tier 1080p cards from Geforce & Radeon (based on 2022 architectures) 4070 is enjoying better - TDP - RT perf - Slightly better raster perf. - Faster memory config While RX 7700 XT is enjoying By undercutting 4070 by $100 You can't go wrong with either considering their merits.. however 4070 will prevail better in the long run due to more memory bandwidth and better TDP & RT/ raster perf. * 7800 XT and 4070 Ti are the baseline 1440p GPUs
4000 series and rx 7000 series both are disappointment nothing much upgrade. Lesser render cores , especially Nvidia 3000 series has more memory bus and vram bandwith.

While RX 7700 XT is enjoying
By undercutting 4070 by $100
You can't go wrong with either considering their merits.. however 4070 will prevail better in the long run due to more memory bandwidth and better TDP & RT/ raster perf.
* 7800 XT and 4070 Ti are the baseline 1440p GPUs
Is this 4k sir?
Yes 1440 is 4K
@@harmonbrentdm 1440p aint 4k tf r u waffling abt
4070 and 4070s still to expensive today.
This gpu is 540$ in my country and it's beast
4000 series and rx 7000 series both are disappointment nothing much upgrade. Lesser render cores , especially Nvidia 3000 series has more memory bus and vram bandwith. A4000 AND A6000 prices increased by 40% becuz of AI .
AND RCOm sucks for AI .
NVIDIA giving you less memory bus and vram bandwith and render so even after CUDA crap it doesn't make. Sense.
Why does the 7700 XT pull so much power?
ye 7700 xt should be at least like 90 dollars cheaper it should be around 330 or so.
I'd rather pay the extra for nvidia. Had only issues with amd cars and the software is terrible
I got a sapphire nitro 7700 XT for £309 while the 4070 is cheapest 488 😂
Do i change my 3070 for the 7700xt, or stay with my gpu ?
7700xt good u should try this.
