Found this after leaving comment re tool post and tools on another video. May I suggest that the inserts that came with the set, are quite possible moulded edge rather than ground edge. Ground edge inserts are far more small lathe friendly, they need less power per cut. they also tend to have higher rake angles which also help in that area. A set of aluminium cutting inserts with rake of 20 degrees from ebay does not cost a lot, I tend to use them for Aluminium, Brass and even Free Cutting mild steel, just so much easier on the spindle motor. Hello, really really good this project ending. I have watch, re-watch and learn a lot on your videos, this will help me a lot to do it on my new Optimum OPTIturn TU 2406V. Just a note before you go farther get the joy stick and the plugin for mach3 then you can jog or run with your eyes right on the part, no more going to the keyboard
I have an A2Z toolpost that is ok but that unit looks better , it is exactly the same as the toolpost i purchased through CTC in China for my big lathe . I think i might buy one for my C2 lathe and put the A2Z on my Taig lathe . For anyone watching - Ausee tools get their stuff from the same factories as arc eurotrade in the U.K as far as i know and the owner of that store - Ketan Swali doesn’t sell junk and is regarded as an expert by model engineers world wide when it comes to Sieg products .
