    Finaly playing with the big boys. I love to see you smiling and grining while working. I missed those faces a long time. Keep up the good work. And as Alex the Dutch dairy farmer said. Let's make farming great again.

    3 things you need for silage hauling 1.a small broom to sweep off the truck 2,paper towels 3. bottle of windex. got to clean the windshield otherwise you can't see anything as the sun is setting

    • @user-zu2bw7ig5v
      @user-zu2bw7ig5v 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And some plastic in the bottom of your trailer so the silage slides out. Or just tip your trailer over like so many have.

      One two threes you have no time for anything you said in real farming when you have 5,000 cows plus to have feed for

    Nothing slower than waiting for tipper body to come back down when empty, When you get a chance, check all the hydraulic line and each fitting for anything that would restrict the return oil flow,
    Lucky with those power lines in the dark,
    Love the wide angle ,while driving to and from the field

  • @Dachshund6970
    @Dachshund6970 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The reason the trailer comes down slow, is it has air in the hydraulic system. It needs bleed. I use to pull buckets all the time hauling coal. About 12 years of it. Here in Southern Indiana. Great video Chris, love that old Mack.

  • @FromLandVegemiteSamich

    One way to speed up the body coming down is put double return lines which you already have on the truck just need to put an extra valve on trailer

    If you want the box to come down faster add another valve block to the hoist and add another hose to return the oil to the tank twice as fast. Adding another valve will block the 2nd hose off while raising the hoist and open it for lowering hoist

    • @szki272
      @szki272 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or T the line and put in a Hydraulic rated ball valve. Other than having to manually actuate it. It would give you the maximum flow the hose could handle.

    • @szki272
      @szki272 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thinking about it there is a possibility that there is a flow reducer in the return line to slow the dump drop. Look for a long fitting between 2 hoses or a square block with a lever on the side. They also make them where they are just a washer with a small hole in them which would be much harder to find. another possibility is there is a flow restriction in a line such as a kink or a filter that is cloged.

    Cabovers a good for opening up paddocks. Used to drive a scania for a contractor here I Australia and always got the job of opening up lol. Was trying to keep up with the chopper one day opening up and he caught a fence jammed on the breaks and I went straight into back of the chopper. Luckily only a light and rad hose on the truck got damaged like ya said gotta be on the ball.

    what I find amazing is how these little New England farms can afford this. As you know, the price of milk is nothing and there is a lot of money being used to have this silage chopped and hauled. Is it even worth it? Maybe things have changed....... I dont know but I would love to know the financials behind this.

    damn dude! makes me cringe watching you stand under that trailer while it's coming down. I'm all about living on the edge. but some things you just gotta stop and think about just a little bit! IDC how well maintained something is! but I just started a job with over $50 million in brand new equipment and we've had countless hydraulic fitting and hoses mess up. and all that takes is 1 thing to go wrong and your dog'll have to learn how to farm and video record all on his own. cause you ain't walking away from that. the bears will have themselves some Duffy ag dinner. actually you'd be a slurpy dessert 🎂! come on man! you got young kids watching you! lead by example!
