Where do you guys walk out from? Does the shoreline freeze every year? I keep hearing that Superior doesn't freeze but continue to see ice fishing videos like this every year.

Invest in a good laker rod its easier on you and the fish

Even with a heavier rod, the fight would've been the same length. I don't like to put excessive pressure on the fish in case they are barely hooked. There's plenty of backbone on this rod either way and can horse fish if necessary

@BritzFishing I get what your saying but them bigger fish will r to in a smaller reel like that.
I like a 36-42" medium heavy with a 2000 reel and 12# big game line.
