nice vid, topic has been playing on my mind too but i hadn't gone one step further and also compared rookies vs serial numbered active career (non-rookies)

Zidane autos are a breath of fresh air since he has never signed prior to 2022/23 Panini/Topps products. Panini, in particular, refreshed their legends auto checklists in recent releases (tons of new English and German legends, Hristo Stoichkov, Roy Keane etc.)
    1. Is it about time they do a Nobility Soccer 2.0?
    2. Will be stoked if Panini/Topps keep enriching the legends auto checklist, Zlatan or Romario, anyone?

I personally love having some legends in the new sets. And I’m glad they are getting some traction. That just means more people looking for cards other than rookies and in a sense I feel like that translates into more people getting into soccer cards aka growing the hobby. Now if you are an investor, then this is the worst thing ever and Panini/Topps should ban printing legends so their pre-modern rookie cards/stickers remain their one and only go to collectible ever. Haha ! 😅

I remember thinking since Zidane had not had signed cards before this year that might make his first auto worth more in the future. But then I think about what happened with Mbappe and his autos.
I agree that now that they started including Zidane & R9’s autos they will just continue to sign in future products which will make their auto’s less special or rare.

Great video James. I think the fundamentals for numbered in-career pre-modern cards are in an entirely different ballpark than the ultra modern releases. I hear you on the hype but those rubies are just very unique rare cards from relevant years. You can’t say anything like that about the new sets given they will print another batch next year.

A lot of the Japanese based sets have been kept in pristine condition, because they were mainly bought by collectors and many Japanese collectors are used to taking very good care of their items. I think more and more of the highly graded Japanese Serie A cards will hit the market in the near future.
