Just doesn’t get any better! Two of the most original Trombone stylists (and love the white suits, too!) sounding fantastic and a sweet dose of one of the members of the Kings of Detroit Class piano Mister Tommy Flanagan (love him and his fellow Masters Hank Jones and Barry Harris) - great stuff! Keep on posting!
It is a rather low mouthpiece placement on the lips! Could have to do with his jaw or lower row of teeth. Kai's tonguing is also different because of it. As are the edgy rips, and growly sounds easier because of it.
@@PeterDeal12 this might explain why when hearing his playing I always know it is Kai. Not as a criticism, but his sound dominates an ensemble or even a big band in which he is playing.
@@bradleybunk6463 it does contribute to the piercing sound quality. He does have a good trombone sound, and it is very recognizable! I personally prefer J.J. but Kai is great too 😆
Merci Lucien pour cette diffusion, je me suis régalé. Bises. Callier Yves.
MAGNIFICENT I WAS PRIVILEGEED TO SEE THEM IN THE UK
Kai winding and Charley Ventura was an outstanding combo in the late
1940s

love this. their album "Jay and Kai +6" one of my all-time favorite
I had their LP At the Opera House.
I loved My funny valentine.
Disappeared after a party!!!
I will die not learning the trombone.
that great rythmn section really moves and pushes the tune along. well what can you say about the two bone players-Great ! Thanks for the post!
man roys touch is so unique could literally tell it was him with two seconds
Fantastic listening! The four people giving it the thumbs down are obviously tone deaf
that can happen
I think that it's more likely that they are cross-eyed and thought that they were clicking a half inch to the left.
These guys were all 8 feet tall in my eyes and ears .
Одно из последних выступлений выдающегося Кая...
Kai has the most unusual embouchure, which I believe caused his unique sound.
not that unusual it is a low placement IV under the Rheinhardt system, other players who have/had that type are Dick Nash and Don Lusher

good
that was fucking great!
I was going to say that they are perfect, but they are better than that, They both use King 3B bones.
This tour with jj was done just days before kai winding passed away
Actually, Kai died May 6 1983 after a 5 month battle with a brain tumor. This Aurex festival was several months before the diagnosis.
Actually, he died about 5 months later.
Kai is a better soloist than J.J.
I politely disagree
you are straight trippin dog
