I accidentally healed myself in 2019. I went on keto and after 4 months realized my pain and swelling and mood were all improving. Lost 60 lbs over 2 years but stalled for over a year and a half and then got discouraged from not seeing progress and gained back 30 if the 60 I lost. Now struggling to get back on track and in pain again. Lesson for me is to stay the course and this is a permanent lifestyle I can’t just look at the numbers on the scale but how I feel. I hope I can get back to pain free and losing weight again.
How lucky that you found keto on your own! Yes, it is definitely a permanent lifestyle for most of us and I've approached it like that from the beginning ("This is my life now") but feeling so good makes it an easier choice. I had some initial resistance to it from people in my life, but most people came around when they saw the dramatic changes in my health - and those who didn't are gone! I weigh myself very rarely and for most of my journey refused to even own a scale. Diets had never worked for me and I was afraid that if I approached it as weight loss I would get discouraged if that didn't happen. My philosophy is if your body is happy with what you're doing... keep doing it! You got this :)
❤ so true, the weighing thing is so hard for me to get over. I weigh daily. You are right! It is about more than the scale.
You are an angel. I really really needed you. I’m only 23, and just hit 215 pounds. Except when I stepped on the scale, it showed me 10 pounds heavier than the day before. I got home and my boyfriend noticed my legs were swollen around my knees. They’re super tender red and swollen. I just cried and cried. Time to fix it.
Welcome to the sisterhood @zenamarie and congratulations on figuring out what's going on! It can be overwhelming - allow yourself to grieve! - but you are on the path now and are going to start feeling better soon. Have you started to look for compression yet? That was one of the first big game changers from me. I have another video about my favorite ones that might be helpful
I know, sweetheart…I hear you. Please know you’re not alone. Please know this isn’t your fault.💙
@@Airkanrickee thank you love. Struggling with weight runs in my family. Thank you for your kindness 💗
Rebecca please speak up hard to hear you
@zena do it now pretty lady while you’re young & before it progresses There was no info no internet on lipedema when i was young - it was just “you’re obese” Hoping now that i am learning more i can improve or at least not worsen. Good Luck!
Thank you thank you thank you for sharing this. My husband has mentioned my strange feeling fat on my arms, I could never find boots in my 20s and gave up. Sleeves are always tight. You are the first person to help me figure it out
Thank you Rebekah. I'm 63 and was fired by a leading endocrinologist a few years back who told me to 'embrace my obesity' as all my tests looked normal and she had nothing in her personal arsenal to help me. The medication for diabetes did not work either. Seen many doctors and naturopaths and have been just doing this all on my own for literally 4 decades. I have a long way to go but you have been so helpful to me. Thank you for sharing your story. I finally found a doc who agreed with me.....but now I am starting at an even more challenging place and am concerned about my age and longevity. I deserve to feel well in mind, body and spirit. Blessings and gratitude to you, Rebekah.
I share your story. Have you ever tried intermittent fasting? let me suggest you read a book called fast feast repeat. This way of life has helped me so much in my struggles with lipedema and my weight. I have fought most my life, from age 10, I'm 61, to keep weight off. Fasting has been the best to deal with this for me. I pray you find what works for you. God bless.
THANK YOU! I just found out I had it and disappointment of thinking no matter what I do want make me thinner was overwhelming. You’re giving me hope!!
@El-aitch like anything, it is hardest at the beginning! You got this! I left my doctor's office crying and confused four years ago and never imagined I could ever feel better. Let yourself grieve, then start exploring the ever changing, supportive world of lipedema and lymphatic disorders. We're in this together
Girl! I have been dealing with this since I was 10, I am now 61. All my life I was active, loved sports, and never even thought about food like that. I have always been a normal eater, I like dark chocolate more then I should, but I shouldn't be as big as I am. My kids are dumbfounded as to why I'm heavy. I have starved myself most my life, working out 7 days a week, walking 4 miles a day. I did slim fast back then. I think that's why it was very easy for me to become a intermittent faster, I eat OMAD and I fast more then 20 hrs, but never less then 18 hrs a day. It has taken me 4 yrs to lose 18 pounds. When I went into menopause, note, I had started carnivore/keto, and fasting already, and lost 30 pounds. I slowly started gaining weight back, I had no idea why. Before I knew it, I had gained 80 pounds out of no where! That's when I increased my fasting and have been able to get off 18 pounds in 4 yrs. I truly understand your struggles with boots and long sleeve tops, and don't get me started on pants, that has been a life long nightmare! Thank you whoever invented yoga pants!! I just found out a yr ago I have lipedema. It's nice to know that during my whole struggle, God gave me a drive to keep myself thin, and because of it, I have stayed a stage 1.
I'm so glad I found you channel! After menopause my leg swelling has gotten worse. All your videos have been so helpful. Thank you!!
Welcome to the channel @denniseespendez3968! I'm so glad to hear you are finding it helpful 🥰 Please let me know if there are any topics it would be helpful for me to discuss in future videos ❤
Yes Lord thank you for me finding this channel too.
Oh yes! Menopause triggered mine to become so heavy and painful! But I'm losing weight in hopes of reducing the pain and increasing mobility. My right leg doesn't even bend at the knee anymore. 😮
BOT.
I went on a peo diet after having a horrific winter. Dropped 20 pounds and lots of inches then stalled. So I went carnivore. I can not believe how little I eat but I'm not hungry. All my life I could not wear boots because of fat calves. I can wear boots!!! I am so glad to find out what's wrong. A super stressful childhood, marriage.... But it's getting better! We all deserve better and our bodies can heal themselves!
Hi I am on carnivore too. Did you eat a lot of salt like they say? I took a sensitivity test and they told me my body was low in sodium but i eat tons of it. Do you find that the salt
makes you swell worse?
Thank you for the channel and your website. Im living with Lipedema and Dercums Disease, and at this point i'm trying anything and everything just to feel comfortable day to day. From the few videos i've watched your story has been really helpful to me already ♥

This is so, so helpful. Thank you for being such a wonderful resource. After years of intense swelling in my lower extremities and always having bigger arms and legs, a specialist diagnosed me with lymphoedema (which I already knew) and urged me to look into lipoedema and start a keto diet. I feel so lucky to have finally found a doctor who took the time. I'm excited to start progressing and getting to a point where I feel healthy again after having my daughter over 2 years ago.
Hi @jessicacorbridge1153! I'm so glad you are starting to get answers and have found such a supportive doc. Keto has been a game changer for me. Did you see my before and after video? th-cam.com/video/MwK_aUNbG-Y/w-d-xo.html I wish there was also a way to show with pictures what it has done for my energy and general feeling of well being. That's been the truly life changing part! Everything you learn is going to be a gift to your daughter - keep up the great work ❤
I am so thrilled I stumbled onto your video. I am in my 70's & have both lipedema & lymphedema. It took quite a while to find aa doctor who recognized the lymphedema (stage 3). My insurance covered part of the cost of the compression garments I was prescribed by a PT who specialized in lymphedema. At that time my insurance only covered lymphedema if it was accompanied by cancer. Then a little over a year ago Congress mandated tht insurance companies had to cover treatment for lymphedema, with or without cancer. I was fortunate to get a year of periodic lymphatic drainage treatment on 1 leg (the appointments never allowed enough time to treat both legs). The PT suggested I ask my current doctor if I might have lipedema as well. His response was that my lipid panels in my blood work all looked really good. I have now changed doctors as my research indicated there was no relationship between the lipids in my blood & lipedema. So I asked my new doctor & she had never heard of lipedema. This is not unusual. Her acknowledgement was unusual. She looked into it & got back to me the same day to say that yes, she thnks I do have lipedema. However my insurance covered periodic treatment for a year & that is all I am entitled to. I have been looking for someone or a group who are familiar with both issues & have information on successful treatment options. I look forward to following your channel & investigating any options you suggest.
Yes, I am seeing that the lipedema health care experts are studying the keto diet as a treatment for lipedema because the patients are reporting that it’s working on shrinking their lipedemic fat, and they’re looking at it as a conservative treatment option. It doesn’t go away (the only treatments that cure lipedema are water-assisted lymph sparing liposuction and manual lipedema extraction, BOTH of which are surgical procedures), but it actually appears to be shrinking the cells, which is major progress since patients were always told that “once your cells get that way, you can’t change the size of them”.
its actually is reversible through carnivore diet (grass fed and finished) with sprinting, extended fasting, sunlight, grounding, cold and hot exposure, good nighttime sleep schedule. Combining all these will 100% result in lipodema regression and complete reversal.
Wonderful
It is definitely a step by step journey. I encourage anyone with extensive health issues to take the scenic route. You gain a lot of helpful insight from the process.
I found out a couple of weeks ago about my condition. Noticed it after 66 years of believing my fatty legs had to do with my body type, 🥺 All my youth I struggled to keep myself from going overboard, and with my older age, it is been always more and more difficult. After 63 my legs started to get fatter to the point where I started to undertand this could not be normal, so I started to investigate and found out about lipedema. I wish i would have known sooner😔. I know now the problem can be solve or better say, it can be controled !
It is so good that you are sharing your experience and in that way you are helping many like me to recover. Hopefully many young girls will get to know about their condition soon enough so they can treat it properly and live happier with their bodies😊❤️ thank you.
@yily-giglia thank you for being here! I think many of us feel like you... really grateful and validated to know about this, but sad we didn't know sooner. Have you seen my latest video on raising lipedema awareness? I share some free resources to help get the word out

Hello lovely.. I just watched your video on TH-cam.. You have such a beautiful aura 😊 💋. At the age 56 just been told that I have lipedema and lymphedema and I have had suffered long term covid twice and have weak immune system. I am size 14 but my legs have always been heavy and swollen over the last few years. I am very active, walk and exercise.. To be told at lymphedema clinic that exercise won't help broke me and I have been depressed but watching your video has inspired me and keep going.. I know that I can stay at stage 1.. Thank you for putting a smile on my face, your fabulous x💋
Thank you for your kind words, Kam! It's so good to hear that you found it encouraging. That's exactly why I started Sturdy Woman - to share what I wish I'd known sooner. REBOUNDING is great for lymphedema
You are very inspiring.
I’m struggling with this diagnosis. Actually, I’m struggling with the treatment. I literally threw up on the CLT because I cannot stand being touched. I was told to relax and that MLD is no big deal. It is a very big deal to me. I was bandaged but couldn’t manage the three flights of stairs to my room. I’m okay with everything else but need some alternative. No one is listening to me. I feel so alone.
@1019lms you round your people! We all understand what you are going through and the good news is that conservative treatments can bring a lot of relief. Stick with it! Check out my playlist for some inspiration: th-cam.com/play/PLGrmXtIzhSGJ8yMVrvzsS0IlDdZisLuKS.html Sending big hugs
Your video gives me hope. I was diagnosed back in 2017 after yet again being patted down by TSA. It was happening each time I traveled and I knew something wasn’t right. I googled “Big Legs TSA” and found a blog by a woman who gave me the name for this condition that I’ve lived with since I was 11 years old. Since the pandemic I’ve been neglecting myself and gained back the weight I lost. I’m looking forward to viewing your website.
Thank you, Paper Mario! I'm so glad to hear you are feeling hopeful. There is so much we can do to start feeling better. What good luck that you were "diagnosed" by TSA and a blog! It's like the universe decided you were ready to start your journey. Thanks for spending part of it here with us ☺ Take it one step at a time and be gentle with yourself. You got this! 🤗
I'm so tired. Through my early 20s-40s I battled ulcerative colitis, endometriosis and adenomyosis, hypertension, ADHD, fatigue, depression, and anxiety. Last year, at 51 , was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. I was told I've probably had it since my 20's.
Now I was just diagnosed with stage 2 lipedema.
I can't do surgery because of my immune suppressants, and I can't do cardio because of fatigue. I'm supposed to have a follow up in a few weeks, but I'm just so done. I just want to play with my grand babies.
Nothing to do but take a deep breather, put your head down, and keep pushing through, right?
❤❤❤
@Momma_Gee they have put you through the wringer! The good news is there is a lot you can do to manage your lipedema symptoms without surgery and some of it might help your other conditions too. Check out my conservative treatments playlist for some inspo to get you started: th-cam.com/play/PLGrmXtIzhSGJ8yMVrvzsS0IlDdZisLuKS.html I find compression, vibration, and keto give some of the biggest returns on the investment. Thank you for starting this Channel🥺
I'm glad you found it. Welcome!
Your video is titled how you reversed your lipidema and lymphedema, but you said nothing of your process. TOTAL CONGRATULATIONS, though, on your achievements! I subscribed when you described your standard operating procedure is that you don't take no for an answer. I surely agree, and I believe there is a cure for every illness; we just have to find it. Wouldn't it be fun to be on the medical-scientific team that researched and found a cure for these diseases. I don't know much about lipidema yet; but with lymphedema, at this time I imagine injection into the lymph-fluid "pads" or nodes with a substance that breaks down larger particles in the lymphatic fluid, helping it travel throughout the body more efficiently. Anyway, HOW did you overcome your illnesses? 🙋
I heard rebounding is very helpful with lipedema. Starting it today 😊
Great video. You are an inspiration. I’ve been on & off keto. Eventually I quit it because of all the deprivation
Thank you Hillary! You're right that keto can be hard, but I found the longer I was "on" the easier it was. It's amazing how the cravings for carbs/sugar just disappear after a month or two of eating super clean. It also helped that I was pretty sick when I started, so when I started feeling better it felt like magic and I was determined to hold onto it. It's all about finding what works for you though 💕
Congratulations🎉🎉🎉Don't ever accept anything you don't like in your life, or your body! You get to decide what you have in your body, or don't have! (Once you accept an illness, or Diagnosis)...you're Done!!
I guess you knew that intuitively!🙂🙂🙂🥰 You command what your body does, or does not do!

I was just diagnosed today 😢
Hello, I'm SO grateful for your videos and great information. I just discovered them today. I suspected it had to be something like that, I have suffered from this since I can remember the pain in my legs and having that kind of baby doll shape, I feel those big nodules (?). I imagine it can be genetic too. I remember my grandmother used to have the kind of body described, especially her arms and legs. Now, my 23 y/o daughter has been struggling for about 10+ years with swollen hands and feet for about 4 years. We can't find shoes for her, except for one 3 sizes bigger than she is supposed to which is hurting her knees, hip, waist, back, and neck because of the way she has to walk with them. Her feet are not wide, but swollen from the top part, and they hurt her when she stands or walks a little bit, sometimes even w/o walking. She has many other medical conditions and it is very important to lose weight because it’s affecting more her health, but she is always in pain and fatigued since she has suffered from Fibromyalgia since she was a child.
I have a couple of questions: Which is the specialist who can evaluate/diagnose Lymphoedema and Lipedema condition (other than the PCP)? We got a compressor pump for legs and arms (her legs are not swollen, just her feet), but she can't tolerate the compress stockings because of the kind of material (fabric). Can the machine be used without them, would it be effective w/o the stockings and elastic sleeves...any alternative? She can't have many of the foods that the Keto diet has like chickpeas, lentils, and soy (including tofu), and she tries not to eat gluten, or some other healthy foods because of her GI condition...Any suggestions? What is the part of the Keto diet that helps with this condition?
Thank you again for your interest and for sharing your information 🙏
She needs several specialists including a endocrinologist and a team of other specialists who work together. It will be a few years long journey but she will see progress every month. The body heals or restores various things every 30 days or so. When I understood this, I also realized the body can heal itself if given time and patience. With that being said, if your family can afford to help your daughter financially while she leaves work for some time, her body will be able to heal and recover faster with less stress on her.
YOU CANNOT REVERSE LIPEDEMA. YOU CAN ONLY MANAGE IT. WHAT YOU LOST WAS YOUR ‘NORMAL FAT’, NOT THE DISEASED FAT! THERE’S A BIG DIFFERENCE!
Well honey what ever it was I need it my legs hurt every Day. I wear compression I'm not eating a lot of carbs. My right leg is the worst
You gotta YELL that shite!?
Wow I pray to get there, thank you for sharing.
Im a vegetarian (lifelong/45 years) but I think a lot about doing the diet you've mentioned on the videos. Aside from just not liking meat, I am concerned about meat increasing IGF-1, which is involved in the growth of cancers. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
Check out Dr Ken Berry. He talks keto, ketovore, carnivore diets, which is opposite of everything we have learned growing up. I'm 65 and remember the government getting more involved in our food, giving us charts of what we should be eating. Also I've watched as more and more people have debilitating illnesses and don't know why. Some people can do keto (sensible meat portion, medium fat-because we want the body to use the fat on our body, and low carb). Some need Ketovore-lower carb count. Some need carnivore to get over their autoimmune or other problems. Here is one of his on cancer. Hopefully that will give you a new perspective. th-cam.com/video/TiMHLqg1ing/w-d-xo.html
Good for you, but where are the recommendations?

Great job! It is very hard to lose weight despite having lipedema 👏👏
This is like much needed hope. My sister has been diagnosed with lymphedma from about 2 years. She also contracted varicose veins and cellulities to ger left leg. While testing for the same doctors also found out a hole in her heart. All this devastating for me and my family. She has been admitted in hospital for the past 11 days now due to fever and resulting in more leg swelling. I was extremely broken to learn there is no cure to it. Need much help on how to go about it. Please. (From India)
How is she now
@Dvmy8786 She's out of hospital. Her leg is swelled, but she's managing with compression stockings. Fortunately, she's able to lead her regular life. I'm worried and hope she doesn't get hospitalized again.
Still hoping there's a cure soon. Thank you for asking
I've never been diagnosed...but my upper arms started to 'bubble up' after my first child, I had stretch marks there too which appalled me. Always large in the upper arm but it was firm...now I was faced with this. I have always, even has a slender child, had pockets of fat high up on my inner thighs...it used to put me off swimming or wearing a swimsuit on the beach and it still does, because now they are like great big lumpy bags. I'm 62 and probably should just accept it now, but I hate it as my legs are slender and very shapely and I have to make sure these bags don't protrude from my shorts. Nightmare.
How do you help lip edema in the face/neck? Swelling for 10 years how do you know if you have this?
I have had it for yrs never knew what happened after my hysterectomy. I was gaslighted acting like I was crazy ... instead of having something stirred up this issue. Where do I get compression garments...what's the best doc to see??? Thanks for being an inspiration...I'm scared.
Did you reverse the appearance of the skin too .? Because I weight the same as you , but I can’t get rid of the lumps and bumps on my legs .
Fasting, brushing, rubbing those areas with castor oil
I just got diagnosed after years of struggle. The pain is too much and it has taken toll on my mental health.good to see am not alone on this❤
How do they diagnose? A general practitioner?

I went on IF since April and my lipedema is slowly shrinking as I continue with IF. I have all the symptoms you enumerated and yes they are painful. I will continue with IF ang hopefully they cells of my lipedema will continue to shrink.
What is IF
@kellieholding8160 great question! IF is commonly used as a abbreviation for intermittent fasting. That can mean a lot of things and people do it in many different ways, but it generally means you eat during specific time restricted windows. I have a video on fasting here th-cam.com/play/PLGrmXtIzhSGK55AI3LAV---shjqSfkuus.html
@ligayaannawi4779 I love fasting too! I've experimenting with various protocols over the years but I agree on its benefits. I can literally watch my swelling disappear on longer fasts. Fasting helps balance insulin and other hormones which may be one of the reasons it works so well for us. Have you read any of Jason Fung's books? Obesity Code explains a lot about fasting and how it affects the body amzn.to/3XuDzY0

Rebbekah, Please, I need some help. I haven't found 1 doctor that will even look at me for lipedema/lymphedema. They just look at me and say "Stick to a diet" - Go home and diet! So I am basically self diagnosed. When I look at pictures, i am probably stage 3 or 4. I am in a Powerchair, I cannot walk at all anymore because the weight of my thighs/buttocks are so heavy. I'm 433 lbs. and only 5'2". Recently I took a food etc.. sensitivity test and it told me that I was low on sodium in my body. I wonder how that can be because i eat so much salt with the carnivore lifestyle I turned to 5 months ago. My question is, how much salt is enough?? I thought I ate too much but obviously not! I'm afraid to eat more!
What would you suggest?? Please I hope you see this

What type of doctor do I see for lipedema ?
@ladyhoneybee6able vein doctors are most likely to know about the lymphatic system. Sometimes you can find one board certified in both venous and lymphatic disorders and they are gold. The Lipedema Foundation recently launched a provider directory that might be helpful: www.lipedema.org/provider-directory Good luck!
this is good info
I'm on a mission to wTCH ALL YOUR VIDEOS
Once you have lymphedema I don't believe it's possible to reverse it even if you lose a lot of weight you only can manage it. It definitely will get better if you lose a lot of weight but I really don't think that you can completely eliminate it. I've had lymphedema for 12 years and i have lost 60 pounds and still have it.
I have lipedema too! Way to go! I have a very hard time losing weight even with keto.
Stick with it! Every body is different and it takes time to figure out what works best for yours. For example, I discovered I have sensitivities to eggs and dairy and do best when I limit those... even though those are great keto foods. Good luck
Do the carnivore diet for a while makes the healing process alot faster

The term you use "reversed" your lipedema and lymphedema. Are you saying that it's cured or it's management treatable? I thought that the lymph damage parts were not reversed. The skin damage from lymphedema is not the same. How can it be reversed back to its normal self?
@theresadurham3777 great question! You are totally correct that there is not "getting rid" of lipedema. I have, however, reversed the progression and gone back to a lower stage. Check out my pictures here: th-cam.com/video/MwK_aUNbG-Y/w-d-xo.html

I'm not sure if this is a reversal per se, it looks like you've reduced your body fat deposits, which has reduced your overall size but there is still lipedema present. Either way its still a positive transformation.
Wow!!!
Thank you, allkindsamusicchick! Welcome to Sturdy Woman 💕
I’ve a over priced piece of paper and mountain of debt from Harvard too … college is a joke

Did you report that Dr. to the medical board? Sounds like she was practicing gross negligence with an “opinion” like that! Talking such rubbish to another patient w/out your resolve could result in far worse consequences. She should be held accountable.
You are amazing
Thank you Aleksandra! It's been a tough road the past few years but worth it to feel so much better
OMG she's ripped!
I hope this is real 🙏
@raindrops4788 it's very real! Check out my before and after video th-cam.com/video/MwK_aUNbG-Y/w-d-xo.html and my conservative treatments playlist th-cam.com/play/PLGrmXtIzhSGJ8yMVrvzsS0IlDdZisLuKS.html
What lymphedema??
Your previous pic has no signs of lymphatic fluid accumulation on your legs!!
You need to change the heading tittle of this video, because you did not beat lymphedema!!!
I don’t get it. You still have lipedema. The fat you lost was normal fat, lipedema fat does not respond to diet and you still have that. Still, congratulations on your achievement and taking steps to improve your health.
You have to get lipo to remove the abnormal fat, right? And once you remove it, it can’t grow back. Is that right?
@@iMaGiNaTiOnWpAsSiOn correct
While that’s generally true, the lipedema health care experts are looking at keto because the patients are reporting significant changes in their lipedema areas, and the health care experts are looking into whether keto is helping the lipedema cells to shrink (but not go away).
And its something you can completely reverse through carnivore, fasting, fermented foods, grounding, sunlight, and sprinting.
These POWERFUL ways of living can reverse it. The most powerful ones that reverse it is carnivore diet, fasting and sprinting. Cold and hot exposure like ice baths and sauna's will also help.
How these doctors tell you “you have this and there’s nothing you can do”. It’s like you’re doomed.
You proved her wrong. Did you go see that doctor again? Perhaps she/he’ll learn a thing or two.
Please show this to Anna O'Brien

@liztowers2058 the middle life hormone changes can be a trigger for lipedema. Have you seen this video about lipedema symptoms? th-cam.com/video/R1GwreFPN9E/w-d-xo.html
