I just one this week, just an unmodded head. I've wanted one for years. I have a couple blues jr cabs with no chassis in either right now, and one has a WGS ET65, the other a UK Celestion Vintage 30. The V30 LOVES this amp! I live in an apartment and can't really push the amp, but it it fortunately takes drive pedals very well.
Awesome! I’m glad there are still people using them. I have the matching head and cab too. Plan on keeping it stock. I put a jj el844 that will break up a lot sooner. Add a boost and there’s my gain stage.
I never modded mine, but I was unable to find the matching Speaker cabinet. so I settled with a Kustom one instead. for the input side I have a splitter running the input cable into a 1994 Yamaha MT4X 4 track (I also have the Ion 1/4" mic connected to the amp as well), on the other end I have my second pedal board connected to track one on the 4 track (with the input cable coming from the amp). while I have the MT4X connected to a 1979 Teac 144, which is connected to my Computers line in.
I have 2 of these heads that my dad bought new 15+ years ago maybe when they came out.?. I intend to do a minor mod or two to help with tube life but very happy to see a more recent video on these.
was starting to think no one was gonna post any newer vids on the EV-jr. I have 3 heads(also matching 2x 12" epi cabs) upgraded to JJ's(nice)but have not made other mods yet. would love to see more of you doing vids on this amp!!! it's quite the unsung amp....i use them in stereo off my pedalboard....2 of them do very well against the average rock drummer in a small room (100-250 seats) for stage volume mostly as i mic them up but still a lot of sound unmic'd in a 100 seat room.
