    Could just copy the bones from the manny and rig auto rig the new character or you’ll miss steps along the way

    one of the only people to do a proper tut, without additional addons or paid addons > guys watch this man if u need help iv watched like 30-40 different videos on building skeletons and porting to ue4 this is one of the best.

    Can't you just use the original unreal engine skeletal mesh to re-rig it with your custom mesh with all it's bones?

    I have a video idea for you grab a female model from CG traders to use in blender then to export to ue5 this site having problems myself with getting them to look right in blender and try to export to unreal with no luck.

    1. Why can't you pose your original skeleton into T-pose and then take skeleton and parent it to you character?
    2.blender has its own skeleton, won't it work for UE?
    I'm not trying to say your way is bad, Im genuinely curious

    why didn't you use the UE mannequin unparent it from the Mannequin move bones to work then reparent to the new mesh? wouldn't that be easier? Also why get rid of the twist bones aren't those important?

      @@unrealmagic1 Your tutorials are brilliant. I haven't done anything with Unreal Engine since I Unreal Engine 2 due to my old PC being to slow for the newer versions and your tutorials are really helping me get the buzz back for making content for UE5 now I have a new PC 👍 If Epic would only get back to working on Unreal Tournament I'd be in mod making heaven 😀

    You need the IK bones is you wish to do any Two bone IK, or FABIK in an animation blueprint...

    If anyone else is having problems with the symmetry tool at 22:36 , you have to name the bones with an ending of "_L" or "_R" for it to work properly

    Really a pity that the automatic weight is so buggy, I spend as much time trying to solve the automatic weight bug as doing the rige, (bone weighting impossible).
    I have never found anything conclusive to correct this error.

    Hello, do you have a video about Blender Shapekeys (Morph Target) for Facial expressions and corrective Shapekeys in UE5 Rig? For example, when I deform a shoulder in UE5 Rig, the Morph targets for the shoulder will provide a proper deformation.

    weird question... but would it be better to use this method to build your skeleton, or create it from scratch with AutoRig Pro?
    I have been having so much trouble trying to fix the weight paints with auto rig that I don't know if it's even worth the trouble. Of course, the thing is that I NEED to retarget animations to upload into Unreal.
    I love your tuts... but this is bringing my whole game-building journey to a sad halt :(
    any advice?

      i use autorigpro in blender export it to ue5 .then in maya i do the retargeting because its way easier and less complicated then export back the animation to ue5 .

      in maya you create the profile to match autorig pro so you only have to do it once .so it automaticly remap all the bones ready for retargeting
      for example i have a profile for mixamo autorig pro so i can automaticly match the retargeting and quicker without need to rename bones

      Auto rig is much better . I just wanted to show you how rigging is working on blender and unreal and what is their difference and generally understand it in deeper level . As starter using auto rig is confusing . Just do one manually and after that use auto rig always . I have bunch of videos about retargetting and animations you can watch them it is so fast

    why can't you just copy and paste the bones from the unreal mannequin to your 3D character after importing the unreal mannequin?

      I was wondering the same thing. Right now, I am more concerned seeing it work; so I will just use the imported skeletal mesh instead of spending time creating a new one from scratch.

    My actual mesh just stays stiff when I try to simulate physics and falls through the ground while the bones all clip through eachother, I made a custom robot to add to my game but idk how to link the bones to the mesh itself if that’s my issue

      I'm just using mannequin ue4 because it is faster . Ue5 is not about mannequin . Is all about the tools and I wanted to show you the tools . Mannequin ue5 for beginner is confusing so it was better to use m ue4 . I'll create a video for mue5 as well you will see that it is the same steps

      @@unrealmagic1 would be dope, i mean even when you have a workflow to ue4 its not that ik retargeting works properly. you can do a child of a child from blender mixamo retarget 2 to ue5 or auto rig in blender to ue4 or ue5, the foot often dont work. also with akkurig to ue4, or
      mesh to metahuman and back, ik retarget in one step, thats easy ahd fast. but rig it right in blender, every characterform, sculpted over little bit in blender, is sooo fine. so would like to see how you would do custom rig (ik) in blender to ue5 manny (epic ue5 skeleton)

    at the end.. when you select the character AND the bones.. then assign a parent.. What if your character has multiple pieces?.. I just drew a box around all them and it selected the bones.. but when I press Alt P.. all I get is "remove parent". any advice?

      @@unrealmagic1 I got it.. was Ctrl.. not Alt. Now I'm on to making animations I guess. lol.. made one so far of just my character waving. do I need to make one for each movement? walking.. running.. ? or is there a way to use the maniquin settings? lol this is hard.

    When I set parent with automatic weights it scales up my model and rotates it so it lies horizontally. Any ideas what is wrong?

      Not applied rotation and scale could cause that.
