    Just got into Infinity myself. Not a painter at your level, but I definitely find the lower model count needed and the high quality of the sculpts motivate me to put more effort into each model.

    • @ph3lansminiatures

      Same for me. Having only a couple of models to worry about instead of dozens of them makes it much easier to put more effort into a single guy.

      Totally agree, it' how I prefer working on my models, I don't like batch painting. Also, I find Infinity has so many pro-consumer practices in comparison to GW, I'm more than happy to switch over!

    Just started getting into infinity and stumbled across your channel - it's gold! More content please!
    One noob question - during basecoating how did you manage to keep the undercoat visible (and thus basic shading)? did you use any medium or just drastically diluted your paints?

    • @ph3lansminiatures
      @ph3lansminiatures  20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hey there! Welcome to the channel ☺️ This is one of the earliest Infinity videos I put out, there is a ton more with even more coming 😉
      I didn't use any medium, I simply diluted the paint with the water I left in the brush while rinsing it occasionally. ( plus the moisture from the wet palette) Acrylics tend to be naturally transparent as long as you don't apply super thick layers, so as long as you use multiple thin coats the undercoat should somewhat be visible.
      Mediums are generally not needed for thinning your paints unless you go for some specific technique or effect.

      Thanks dude! Jumping into painting is actually quite scary, but by the 3rd model or so, it will be familiar and just pure fun. I would advise to just take the plunge, accept that the first models won't be as good as you want them to be, but with every model you will be making progress :) good luck!

      @@ph3lansminiatures it gets a bit that way, right? If you find it a bit difficult to get an in-person demo game, you have the option of using Tabletop Simulator to have some games online - just to get to grips with the rules, anyway. Very active community on there, and a few good TH-cam videos on how to get started

      @Andrew Beeching yeah, I heard a lot of good things about tabletop simualtor on Reddit. Fortunately, I do have at least one person I can persuade to play a couple of games with me at some point though. It is mostly a matter of finding the time for it than anything else, but it will happen :D

    Yes you should take your time and paint the models like this one two reasons one you will have a lot less models to paint which means you can take more time painting each one to your liking and number two you don’t have as many models as Warhammer would

    Could have been nice to get some building tips as these models are metal and i'm really struggling to get them built without depleting my expletives.

    • @ph3lansminiatures
      @ph3lansminiatures  ปีที่แล้ว

      :D I can try to get the building process in one of the next videos. Didn't really need any expletives on my end to be honest, it was a fairly straightforward process. Washed everything with soapy water and cleaned with a toothbrush. Removed the flash with clippers, cleaned the rest with an exacto knife, filed the places where I removed the flash and the mold lines. Finally glued everything together with superglue. What gave you issues?

    • @ministudio7746
      @ministudio7746 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ph3lansminiatures Yes, I also use super glue, but i've got 168 models to build, so the 30-40 seconds wait for each little piece to bond adds up in the end. I've started using UV resin to tack the pieces together while the super glue sets-in. I'll see if this saves me some time. Thanks for the reply, nice painting.

    • @ph3lansminiatures
      @ph3lansminiatures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm... have you tried a different brand or type of super glue? It usually takes mine only a couple of seconds to get pieces to stick especially for the smaller models.

    • @ministudio7746
      @ministudio7746 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ph3lansminiatures Yes, I use two brands, the very cheap kind which bonds almost instantly and the expensive (mountainous primate) which takes longer to bond but has a very strong long lasting bond. It's fine for small and light pieces, but for anything with a bit of weight, the lighter glue's initial bond is not enough to hold the pieces together. Although i'm now holding a UV flashlight instead of holding two pieces together... so problem.... displaced? I'm just biting the bullet and assume these models will take way too long to build.

      @@ministudio7746 Hi. I hope you overcame your gluing woes with the metal models.
      In the event that you haven’t, I have some tips having built more Infinity models than I care to count.
      1. Wash the metal or at least file/score the parts that will glue together. The metal comes out of molds and they might still have some release agent on them.
      2. A little superglue with some activator spray is much better than a large dollop of superglue. Typically I use Loctite Precision Max and whatever activator is cheapest.

    Here in the USA mini wargames isn’t as popular as its seen as childish to play with minis. It’s thankfully a mindset thats slowly fading away, as more game stores are popping up.
    Though I will say the title was a little deceiving. 😂 just made it sound like Infinity was ripping off Warhammer or something with the “SHOULD YOU”

    I love the infinity content. However, I just don't have the patience for something like this. An army center piece sure, but the entire army? my backlog would just get unmanageable if I spent more than a couple hours on each model.

    • @ph3lansminiatures
      @ph3lansminiatures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, that is completely understandable. I am mostly interested in the painting side of the hobby, so painting is where I put most of my attention. That being said, I also want to put some units on the table fast occasionally, and there are already a couple of speedpainting videos on the channel. For now, only for Warhammer, but there is one planned for infinity as well :) I still think that the more advanced content can still be used for your faster paint jobs as well. You can either use just some elements, or apply the same method for another model, like a centerpiece or leader, as you said.
