You should never worry about cutting a lot of branches off of these plants...Almost every cutting can become a new plant, and it takes the strain off of the poor big plant...This one really was very long overdue for some attention and care. Good job...I would have cut off lots more lol
Mine is very healthy looking, but most of the stems are long, kind of all over the place. Maybe this is why I've never had a bloom. What should I do? Any help is appreciated!!
@@cam94keith96 As long as your plant looks healthy it means it is doing well...these types of plants by nature can get pretty big after a while, but just pruning them is the best if you want to keep it smaller, and hanging so the branches trail looks nice too...I think blooming has more to do with the plant getting some cooler temperatures ...but sounds like your plant is doing fine.
@@cam94keith96 I’m a little late but they need cool nights and warm days to bloom. I hang mine near a window to get morning sun and warmth but I would crack the window a little at night, in early spring, to allow it to cool down.
I was just given an cactus orchid. Honestly it looked terrible. I t was two plants in one pot so I repotted them individually then cut out all the dead. I'm left with long woody branches with long green stems on them . They look sad one only has three long green stems and the other about 8. Is there anything else I should do? I live in Iowa so it's inside now. I'd like to move them outside for summer if they survive. Any advice us greatly appreciated. Thank you
Oh my heart hurts,to see u doing that,I know it is good for the plant.
Thank you for sharing this method! Plant is beautiful 😍

That's what I was thinking, I hate throwing out any plants.
@@amysmiles9751 Yes, much better to make more plants by rooting them...and give to friends

What species of epiphyllum?
Most likely a Disocactus hybrid.
Does it have spines?

How are they doing now?
How do you know where a flower will grow. We had a bunch of shoots or vines and my husband just chopped them off.
I would like to know if a branch reblooms the following year or if you should remove branches that have produced flowers.
To the best of my knowledge there are many node within the branch. It will bloom again or push out new breaches.
Sir can you also tell about the fertilizer and Soil that you use in the EPIPHYLLUM Plant any more of Tips to Take Care of ?
Thanks for sharing 😊
Can you take the length off the branches? I'd rather not have them hanging down so much (no room)
Yes you can. Cutting it shorter will allow newer growth.
@@GreenThumbTherapy thank you 😊
