With my own (chronological) 'expiration date' coming up anytime, this is a great reminder where in life we've been, that those we used to adore too are getting older or have passed, and those before them too lived lives as we do, each within the confines of their individual time capsules. Very thought-provoking and appreciated. Thank you.
Thank you for such a thoughtful comment. Indeed, life reminds us that everything passes, and we are all on our own path in life, associated with a certain time frame. Your words touch my heart, and I am glad that my content provokes such thoughts and helps you look at life from a different perspective. Take care of yourself and appreciate every moment.
Some titles may need a second look: Ingrid Bergman with her twin girls (looked like an older girl and a younger boy); women out shopping: looked like a mother with her three older (preteen?) daughters? Thanks for the memories!
thank God for freddy kreuger laying claim to my nightmares - it could have been those "micky and minnie mouse" monsters... the poor boy looks on the verge of tears...
We owned one of those air-cooled Renault cars in late '59-'63. My dad was a civil engineer for NASA, and having a small plane, apparently really believed in the air-cooled concept. He bought a GM Con-vair, an air cooled van, converted it to a camper, and moved his four kids & wife to California from Norfolk, VA. Then bought a VW bug and began stripping it to make a flying car...
That would have been a Corvair rather than a Con-vair. GM's first (and IIRC) serious attempt to build a rear-engine car. It was a hell of a cool car to drive but they suffered from design and reliability problems. GM did a lot of work to fix their issues but by that point Ralph "Nadir" (as I call him) had launched a self-aggrandizing and eventually successful crusade to kill the car.
A fascinating collection of old photos! You obviously have a keen eye for what makes a great photo. The quality and colour of some of those photos is excellent. Comments are useful too.

I really LIKE that you left most of your photos in black and white. I don't care for the videos where they have colorized everything. To me they are not vintage if they are colorized.
@zaralunden3203.as my mom being an artist prefared drawing in black pencil and not colour because she said that colour fades quicker and drawing in black pencil or paint lasts longer.as I noticed when looking at photos from the old 1970s Polaroid cameras you had a choice of photos taken of you in black and white or colour and all the photos taken of us where in black and white and the ones taken in colour didnt last as long.im 60 years old now and I still have those photos like they were only talking yesterday.you should give it a try🎨🖼 .Happy Xmas and a Happy New YEAR To You.🎄🎉🖼🎨🇨🇮👋

My husband's uncle was Stephen Boyd, it's a pity that he died aged 50 playing golf. He starred in several films with some great actors and actresses. He had a wonderful singing voice too. He was spotted busking and was seen by a talent scout, the rest is history.
I read about the door gunners, very dangerous plus the mental damage raised havoc with PTSD. The amount of carnage seen and participated in was beyond description often including villagers and animals.
Had a co worker who was a door gunner in Nam. He said the life expectancy was low on that job. A very nice guy. I think somewhat slowed in his mental progress as a result, he was like a 250 lb, solid as a rock kid.
Staithes North Yorkshire, I thought there was a human leg on the ground, but then I saw it was a boot! The oldest known wheelie, I have seen many cars of that type, where the wheelbase was altered to get the car to pull wheelies much easier for show. But then, the car was slower in the 1/4 mile races, as the wheelie, while great for show, used up time to get down the track!
WOW! Great photos! In the photos with long captions they change too quickly to read all. I had to keep my hand over the space bar to pause photos with long captions.
MAJOR MOTORS ! I remember it well and the stunning Mrs. Major in her Dauphine . This takes me back, some good memories and sad. Innocent days pre civil rights awakening, rampant good ole boy bullying. Waaar EAGLE

Photo at about 30.48 with women kneeling. I think this is more likely February 29 on leap year. Bachelor's Day, sometimes known as Ladies' Privilege, is an Irish tradition by which women are allowed to propose to men on Leap Day, 29 February, based on a legend of Saint Bridget and Saint Patrick. It once had legal basis in Scotland and England.
Nice collection of photos. I'm guessing that king salmon your uncle is shown with has to be around a 60-65 pounder. nice big "smiley" as the trollers call them. (Or called them. They're a rarity today.)
@ 20:27 The long car in Sydney is still around, turned up in the 1990's as a barn find and was going to get restored, remember the photos in a Australian car mag. I can't tell you any more.
Yes, this is clearly not Ingrid Bergman with her two twin daughters. Photo is described incorrectly. About 23.38 min mark. The children are even years apart and older girl and with younger boy.
Haven't watched the whole video yet, but the music during the first minutes is titled "Gymnopédies No.1" and originates from french composer Erik Satie; it was first published in 1888.
