  • In 1967 the Long brothers, Murray and Miles, were in chiropractic school in Binghamton New York. One night while having a beer in the campus pub the boys met Indian exchange students, Jugdish Patel and his half brother Clayton. When “Leader of the Pack” came on the jukebox all of them started singing along. Murray Long noticed they all were really good. He knew he and Miles were pretty good on guitar because they learned how to play at Camp Pioneer, a Lutheran camp for brothers (not cousins). Murray asked the boys if they wanted to form a band while going to school. They thought it would be a great way to meet girls. Jugdish could play a mean sitar and Clayton was a wiz on saxophone. Miles Long could play everything. The boys formed the band The Crazy Chi-Roes. One night Miles and Jugdish wrote the song, “I Wanna Straighten Your Back.” They recorded it on campus and it became a hit all over Central New York and Bombay India. The Crazy Chi-Roes disbanded in 1970 after graduation.
