In the USA we like to imagine that everything is made in nice clean factories with modern automation. I bet there are so many low cost products that are painstakingly made by hand in tiny factories just like this one in India or elsewhere in the developing world.
That’s because in the USA you actually have nice clean factories. But regardless, don’t feel bad for these folks. They have lots of work to do. We need to be more worried about ourselves.
Factories using automation only works for big companies in a country with small population.. but if it applied to SME in a country over 200 million population. jobless people will be in large numbers. lots of people will be homeless.
The exact opposite of the "untouched by machine" culture. Every part of the process is manually done in quite unsafe and hazardous conditions. Unfortunately, these very occupations keeps their families alive. Fascinating video!

Don't get me wrong, the processes shown are sometimes pretty slick, like using water inside the halves to generate steam (and therefore pressure) for the final vulcanizing/joining process. However, what they're putting out is not acceptable in the professional circuit because there are more variations in something handmade. The idea is to have the basic components of the game be as equal and predicable as possible, so that winning a game relies on a player's skill, finesse and athleticism, rather than a quirk of a ball that makes it bounce unpredictably.
