I’m hoping that this episode spreads awareness of how broken the US healthcare system is. If the insurance company thinks they could survive just doing outpatient rehab (only 3-5hrs a day) they’ll deny inpatient services, regardless of the true need for inpatient care
People are already aware its broken. There's just a group of people who don't care as long as they don't need the treatment and they believe drug addicts deserve to suffer.

So about the rehab thing. It's possible what they were saying was that they might not have any room and/or gave Rue's spot up. Sadly in the US, rehabs are commonly full especially for opioid addicts since its a huge drug issue here.
Rue's mom was likely calling an insurance company to ask to cover for Rue's stay in rehab. It's actually a really big problem that oftentimes insurance doesn't want to cover it

So happy i found your channel man. I started watching these w my girl and these make the show way better. Comedic relief is NEEDED after. From experience homie, the hospitals be that way w rehab. I got told there was nothing they could do. My parents got told there was nothing they could do unless a SIGNIFICANT bag was dropped. So they took me home and i shook it out over the next week. Sucks. Reason a ton of ppl relapse. But many years later its all good. Hope is real.
My undergrad internship was in an inpatient psych unit and can say from experience that getting people into treatment facilities can be extremely difficult. Not only insurance issues, but bed space is never ideal, and the inpatient facilities for minors are even more scarce. It's very unfortunate, and not something that will get better until we start investing more into mh providers :/
