    Don’t you need to be careful with solvents and plastics? Depending on what that pourer is used for and what it’s made of it might not last long.
    Also 3D prints aren’t food safe for the most part so probably aren’t suitable for a toothbrush case either. The cases are also cheap enough you should probably just buy some.

      To your first question, yes, absolutely. You wouldn't want an ABS spout for your acetone jug, for instance. I'd guess PETG would be okay for most things, as polyethylene tends not to react with much, but don't quote me on that.
      To your second question, while you're correct that 3D printed plastics aren't considered food safe, that doesn't mean they're generally dangerous to handle or anything (unless they're resin, in which case they have to be washed and post-cured *very* thoroughly before they're considered safe to handle without gloves). You don't want to store food in 3D printed containers, and you probably don't want to put 3D printed utensils in your mouth, but a toothbrush cover is neither of those. If you rinse your toothbrush before and after contact with the 3D printed cover, and you rinse your mouth after you're done brushing (you're not supposed to swallow toothpaste anyway), then I don't see any way it could be harmful.
      Just be wary of mildew accumulation if you frequently leave a damp brush in it. That's true with any brush cover, but 3D printed ones are likely to be more porous than injection moulded ones, and therefore harder to sanitize fully. That porosity is also part of the reason prints aren't considered food safe.

      @@hollt693 Those were my main points about a 3D printed toothbrush case, unless you carefully clean and then let the toothbrush dry before putting it in the case then there will be some kind of buildup over time, even if you are careful it will just take longer to build up.

    • @hollt693
      @hollt693 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@conorstewart2214 Still, that would be a concern even if it wasn't 3D printed. I had an injection moulded plastic mirror-mounted toothbrush holder that snapped closed around the brush, and every month or so, I had to clean some sort of black mold buildup off of it with a cotton swab and alcohol.
      If I were to make a 3D printed toothbrush case, I would just coat the inside with either a non-toxic resin or a food safe wax. Anything that will eliminate any gaps you can't get at with a swab will make the case safe enough, imo.
