If you don’t want to lose your money and save yourself from falling victim of pickpockets, pay attention to some simple but important tips that can help you save your money and other valuables.

If you travel with a backpack, wear it the other way around, on your front.

Another trick used by kids, is a young boy approaches you and claims to be lost, and needs to contact his mother, as a good citizen, you assist him by dialing his mother's number, but no one picks up, the boy leaves, and other 2/3 men and/or women follow you till you sit somewhere, after a while, one of them 'panics' and claims to have lost his/her phone, the other suggests to call it and calls your number, then you become a 'thief' and lose your phone. This happened to me but I however managed to outsmart them by locking the phone and asking them to unlock it if indeed it was theirs, they eventually let me go😂

A few years ago, I think I was in 3rd grade (my bro in 1st), my brother put pokemon cards in his backpack sleeve. Walking into school an older kid tried to pickpocket him I was standing behind my brother, and I yelled at the pick pocketer to stop. When I told a teacher, they said "Well he shouldn't have brought them.''. I thought teachers were supposed to discourage and prevent theft.

I was recently in Rome and Florence and I 100% recommend a crossbody purse that both zips and clips over. I have one and I kept it in my front and I didn’t have to worry the whole time I was in Italy.

Another tip is that sometimes pick pockets will say something like "oh do you want this voucher we have no use for it" then distract you with details while their partner makes off with your wallet.

I wear two shirts, and I also wear shorts underneath my pants. I use the pockets on my inner layer of clothing to store my valuables. Makes them harder to reach for me, but also harder to pickpocket because they have to get through an additional layer of clothing first.

1. Keep all your things in your *front* pockets and keep your hands in your pockets
2. Always use *cash* and only bring how much you need. This means, if your money gets stolen, it will only be a little amount
3. When you can, *never go outside*

My mom almost got pickpocketed when I was about... 8? We were at Walmart purchasing groceries, untill this man was uncomfortablely close to my mom. Mom thought nothing or it and just wanted to leave, but for some reason im ridiculously protective of my mom. I was being discreet in watching this man. Thing is that this man didnt look like he was buying anything but a red-bull, but he could have gone to self check out. So I was at the area the cashier bags the items and the man was on the other side, I made it known to the man I was watching him (not on purpose though) so he didnt do anything. I soon told my mom about this discovery and told her he was being shady, after I told her that she noticed right away. We also told staff and they told us that they told him to leave and never come back becauss of somthing he did. YEAH im pretty sure i may have saved my mom from a potential pickpocket mostly on accident 😂

On the topic of backpacks - It’s not always possible or convenient to front carry your back pack. For scenarios like these, a small, combination padlock that locks the two zippers together will prevent pickpockets entering the main compartment.
If I had the fake wallet I would put a note in there saying "My crew is watching you... You're Next!" 😆😆

To increase friction on the wallet in your front pocket or inside pocket of your suit/sport coat, wrap it in large, thick rubber bands. Double and triple each band, twisting them a lot when putting them on the object. USE 4 or more. This creates a lot of resistance against pulling it out of your pocket. I put assortments of folded bills in various pockets - right handers could put the rubber banded wallet in their left front pocket - leaving their right hand free for fending off anyone too close. The left rear pocket could have about $20 in $1's, and $5's under a handkerchief for small purchases. I would carry 4 or 5 $20's. folded in half, under a handkerchief in my right front pocket for larger purchases and a few $100's, 1/4 folded in an interior watch pocket I have tailored into slacks and walking shorts. The handkerchiefs breakup the outline of paper money so it doesn't "print" through tropical weight clothing.
My wife is from the Philippines - Manila has 100,000's of pick pockets. She carrys a heavy leather purse with relatively short straps that she carrys close to her armpit. She choses purses with an interior secret pocket that was about 1/3 or 1/2 up from the purse bottom. Pickpockets in the P.I. will slash the bottom of a purse to catch contents and having it tight to one's side, with the upper arm pressing it to one's side and the lower arm cradling the bottom really limits the zone of attack. Tourists should not wear expensive watches, jewelry, etc during the day when out and about, shopping and touring. Keep it in a safe in your room or at the front desk.
Tourists on Maui and other Hawaiian islands always seem amazed that they go to the beach and their car's trunk is popped when they're done at the beach. A small ballpien hammer will knock out the trunk lock on most cars quicker than a key will open it! Never leave valuables anywhere in an unoccupied car. Tourists ALWAYS stick out like a medical emergency, and in most famous tourist areas, they are constantly being observed by local thieves and ne'er-do-wells. You won't notice them, usually, but they are watching you the moment you land or drive up. When going to the beach, unless you have a companion willing to stay with your beach towel and "stuff" and alternate going in the water with you, everything of value should go with you into the water. Yep, waterproof cameras, radios, all that stuff is available. What you can't accompany at all times or take in the water belongs neither in the car or at the beach! Put it in your room safe.
When you go in a restaurant, park the car where it can be watched. Car theives will steal a rental or other late model car and have it sold within the hour. Body shops even order cars for parts by specific year, color and model. If you have the kind they want, it takes a pro about 2 minutes to steal it. Have someone watching your vehicle, especially if you own it, at all times while in the restaurant. That person should be facing the window with no other tables between them and the window. When time to pay, that person should hang back, still observing until someone in your party is outside by the car. If the watcher needs to use the restroom, someone needs to be in watch position before they leave.

Thinking you are the exception to the rule makes you an easy target.
They don't have to put it back, they can grab the money out of the wallet and not care about tugging then run

Sew a pocket on the side of your clothes touching your skin. If someone figures out it's there, you'll feel them touching your stomach,and even if they bypass you, you'll feel your missing belongings
I never carry money on the back pocket ,my money is always in my front shirt pocket (don't use money bag for that reason .

Don't know if this has been posted, but if you stay in a classy 4 or 5 star hotel where you can check in your luggage upon arrival and they can deliver it to your room, or if they're understaffed and say they'll have your luggage bought to you at a later time ALWAYS ALWAYS TAKE YOUR PURSE/CARRY ON WITH YOU TO YOUR ROOM. anything containing your personal information, money etc.
My ways to keep my stuff safe in public:
1.Hide it deep in your underwear
2.make a inner pocket INSIDE your shirt/T-shirt
3.wear those cheap quality tracks with a zip on the pocket
4.see too many 007 movies and stay alert AF
5.give up and pray hard

My teacher was in a busy Paris train station and she was too rushed to put her phone , wallet and passport in her purse which was hanging by her side , someone stole some cash out her wallet lucky she was holding her most important teams 😇

Some homespun advice from cityboy: a) never carry what you don't need...If you're not gonna use your credit card, don't bring it..,.…b)if you plan on doing a couple of things that will cost you $20, don't bring $100...C) don't bring all your important I.d. In your wallet.. I carry an old I.d. In my wallet,my recent i.d. and license stays home if I don't need it...Also sentimental family pictures do not go in my wallet..D) minimal jewelry..E)don't wear baggy pants and put your wallet in your back pocket..That's asking for your stuff to disappear...F) Keep your keys latched to a belt or safe clip...Not in a loose purse..Put extra weight on the keychain so you know if falls or pulls away...E)arm yourself with knowledge and awareness ....Look around ..Get in tune with your surroundings...Most important ,be safe where you are....If you are in an unfamiliar surroundings,be extra careful....I have many other tips,but hopefully these will help..☺☺☺
