All About Celebes Rainbow Fish: A Curious and Surprisingly Hardy Oddball

- Celebes Rainbow fish are certainly a bit of an oddity with their tatty fins and sleek body. And they look like the sort of fish that would be challenging to keep in an aquarium. And yet they are incredibly hardy. Perfectly happy living in a wide range of different tank conditions.

Lights

Filters

Air Pump
AP-3 Kit : amzn.to/34UMA3q - Great little air pump, not a silent runner, but has been very reliable for me.
Tanks
Scaper 45 - amzn.to/3KBxG2H - a lovely high quality tank that comes with a super strong light, and a decent enough hang on back filter - perfect for newbies and scapers alike.

BigTripod - Manfrotto befree - amzn.to/3GLXDdj - pricey but super sturdy and can take being knocked over a lot by clumsy operators.

Rainbow fish love sunlight, contradictory to aquarium keeping, but try letting them photosynthesize!!
I love these happy little dudes. I've got some in with Praecox and my old Synodontis. Very peaceful.

I've had dwarf neon rainbow fish and found them to be nowhere near hardy. They all seem to keep suffering popeye and dying. I'm down to my last 3. All the other species in the tank are thriving so it isn't the water quality. I'm putting it down to a bad batch.
