We used to sing Drunken Sailor when I was a Brownie. We hadn’t a clue what it was about but we all loved the song. We also sang Haul Awayand Rattling bog. We’d go faster and faster like the Johns till we were in giggles on the floor.
My little brother is 14 and I've been trying to get him into the Longest Johns and he actually has some of their songs in his playlist. You have good taste mate
Back when I was young I lived in New York City for a year. That summer Creedence Clearwater did a free concert in Central Park. It was great. Jefferson Airplane did one too. It was a great time for music
When I first discovered you guys, Shanties felt like such a niche thing and I had no idea why I was so drawn to them. Other than you guys just being great, I've realized (with Rattlin' Bog especially) so many songs I grew up with at Camp take so many hints from Shanties. SO MANY camp songs feel directly descended from Shanties.
@@Gandhiji87 Honestly just listen to the songs and work at it line by line for what you want to be able to sing the notation isn't important for just learning it yourself except if you want to use a tuner app to play that for you to help hear it clearer I took choir for several years I'm used to listening for the parts but it will take some practice
@@jplayzow Thx, I've done that a lot but I still don't know anything about picking out harmonies for other songs. I wanna learn the principles behind it. Also its extremely hard to just try to follow along harmonies by ear when there are many at the same time. I need a step by step guide to help me.
@@Gandhiji87 Maybe go learn the harmomies to their community projects and get a feel for their voice isolated and come back to these at like half speed so you can follow better yet ignore the streams go find the songs that they made projects and work on following the harmony you already know
I keep expecting JD to pronounce California as Californ-eye-ay in The Leaving of Liverpool. Has he done that some other time when singing that, or am I confusing it with another song? Either way, it's a great song, and great at getting stuck in my brain.

it does dw, i wouldn't have thought to check the description
Same
All the time stamps have been messed up by TH-cam giving them the wrong title 😅
Your rendition of Leaving of Liverpool has to be my favorite of all time. I can't wait for it to get on an album.
Agree so much!
Andys smile. The most beautiful but probably also most haunting thing I've seen today. Thanks for seeing and taking the opportunity Andy :D

It's shamefully rare for sure.
Andy is so precious
Andy is a gem.
He looks so different without all the facial hair he usually has. 😜
I will say, JD did very well leading moby duck
Most adequate
Thank you
Except for missing the bit about the feast. He just needs to get used to it.
@@johncayley7838 oh yeah, i meant for a first time doing it, he did it pretty well
He did, but it still made me miss Dave, hearing that song

42:07 Crossing the Bar was so so beautiful ✨✨
It’s always good to discover there’s a new TLJ stream, with some songs I haven’t heard before. It’s somehow so comforting to listen to you guys.❤
That was a beautiful rendition of leaving for liverpool!
A new fav: Leaving Liverpool 😊 💕❤💕
"One More Pull" sounds Amazing JD excellent work
Also is anyone not seeing the chapter markers on this video?
I’m 12 and my favourite band sing sea shanties. Wow. I know all the words to The Rocky Road to Dublin and can sing it of by heart

I wish you guys would do a Christmas CD, using the old English carols.
You guys are a gift.

It feels so strange with only 3. Y'all still sound good, but it feels odd.
Definitely odd...
@@lavadabomb A math joke. HA!
Just chilling and vibing here after a long and intense day...thank you boys!
Leaving of Liverpool was really nice :D
Just a greeting from the other side of the channel and a hearthy cheer for the "Capitaine de St Malo". Keep it up, you are awesome.
Another song I’d love to hear you do is Phil Ochs rendering of Alfred Noyes’ the Highwayman.
Awesome!! So excited that you guys are able to get this posted!!
Here’s a health to the company was the last song at every Renn faire I ever went to.
Can you please do an online lecture on how you sing in harmonies?
Honestly making the harmonies may be tricky but singing them just takes practice especially if you can pick them out of the song
@@jplayzow Yeah but tips on how to find harmonies generally. Not for one particular song but generally. And how to praktice getting good at them

If I'm not mistaken in The High Kings version of Leaving of Liverpool they pronounce California that way.
When can we get a new CD?
