Cats and books. Subscribed. I enjoyed reading the Three Investigators when I was a kid, I was envious of their secret hideout. Back in the late 70s / early 80s America was still a strange and exotic land to kids growing up in England and I loved their Californian adventures. All these years later and I'd forgotten about them until now.
That Snoopy book! I loved him as a child, and still adore him! No holiday goes by without me watching the cartoon specials, even now at age 61! You have some fantastic books from your childhood! Most of mine are gone, but I've replaced them with my own copies and created my own inner child library; Winnie-the-Pooh, Secret Garden and The Little Princess, The Country Child, A Traveller in Time, The Wolves of Willoughby Chase. The Railway Children, Wizard of Oz, Little House on the Prairie series, Anne of Green Gables series, Howl's Moving Castle series and so many more, most now in Folio Society copies. I do miss my Black Stallion series books that were lovely bright coloured hardcovers. And I love all my fairytale books! Thank you for sharing your wonderful collection and thoughts on each one!
You are so fun to watch…..all your videos are wonderful. I was sad to hear today I won’t get Dr. Who in Wonderland until Nov. 5, was supposed to be here this week! I hope your Gay Pride event will be successful and fun and bring the community together! What the world needs now, is love sweet love….Jackie DeShannon song❤❤❤
Paul this episode could have easily been you pulling books off my shelves as I not only have about 80% of the books you mention but the same editions. Nice to see forgotten authors such Nina Beachcroft and Monica Hughes get a shout out. Some of my favourites that you may like if you aren't already aware of them would include the Carbonel the Cat books by Barbara Sleigh and Mr. Moon's Last Case by Brian Patten. Also have you ever read the Doctor Syn books by Russell Thorndyke they are a delight. Love the Channel.
I grew up with the Mary Poppins books. The writing is so good, and the stories full of magic. I hated the Disney movie, outside of the excellent matte paintings. As for Charles Schulz, I ran a fictitious candidate for student government in high school. One of my posters read "I hate America, apple pie, and Snoopy. I dare you to vote for ME, Sue Friml, for student government president." Since you love children's books, have you ever read The Bears' Famous Invasion of Sicily? The illustrations are amazing.
My precious but cheap books are my many copies of Conrad's War, my Usborne Mysteries of the Unknown and my most recent, the same Piccolo edition of Struwwelpeter that they had in my junior school (found at the carboot a few weeks back for a pound!)
I am soo jealous of your 101 Dalmations I nearly threw my phone across the room 😫 it's one of the stories that has really stayed with me from childhood but hardbacks with that cover are really hard to find and are super expensive
