That's a shame. During 12 years of being in business, I had to fire two employees for theft. So I totally understand what such extreme betrayal feels like. I hope you're able to move forward with trustworthy employees and I hope you're able to put the bad thieves behind you.

They kept an eye on him until I could prove the items were mine (vin numbers and receipts ) which I did provide. Then they tracked him straight to his house with his cell phone number

That sucks soooo much. Having someone you trust steal from you is so much worse than a customer stealing. Alot of business owners would just brush this under the rug and fire the employee for something else but good on you for putting this up so nobody else gets taken advantage of.
When I was a kid I rescued a crow I found burnt and dazed under powerlines. I took it home and he not only survived, but decided to stay. Had free run of the house....But... he was not to be trusted. Anything shiny went missing. He just couldn't help himself. Weeks later we found his stash on top of my old mans cupboard. Its an urge crows just cant control.

I once purchased a unique gold chain and I never took it off then one day the gold began to wear off. I went back to the place I purchased it to get my money back. To make a long story short the owner began watching his employee and discovered he was switching the tags, and replacing the gold chains with gold fill look a like chains.
Eventually I got a replacement, but it was cool. One hint I was told: weigh your trays daily, and use mirrors so your cameras can see in those dead spots. People never think of that.
