Thanks for posting this. I have made numerous flights on different airlines to the USA. The interesting thing is that you can get to the USA going either east or west. Here are my opinion on the ones I have flown.
Qatar - Layover in Doha. Excellent planes, food and entertainment.
Japan Airlines - Layover in Tokyo. I liked it and would fly again. Good food. I used this last year from Manila.
Cebu Pacific - I wouldn’t recommend it for flights to USA
Philippines Air - it depends on the specific plane but the food was not good nor the entertainment. Nice air crews.
Ethiad - Layover in Abu Dhabi. Always newer planes. Good food and entertainment. I’m a frequent flier on Ethiad and has used it for years.
EVA - Layover in Taipei. I just used this in Sept-Oct. Good service. Good food and entertainment. I took Cebu-Pacific to Cebu and EVA from there.
Emirates - Always excellent planes and service. Good food. Layover in Dubai.
Singapore - Layover in Singapore. Great airline with fantastic food. Singapore Airport is the best to layover. Flights can be pricey.
I haven’t used the U.S. based airlines yet so I can’t comment on their flights to the Philippines. To be frank, I like to try different flights but always consider flight time and cost. It’s best to plan well in advance when possible.

I look for aircraft, particularly the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, to be precise. More room, larger windows, and the cabin pressure is set to 6000' rather than 8000' like other airliners. The cabin humidity is higher also, so one doesn't feel more desiccated during and after the flight.

Paul, All Nippon Airways is my favorite airline company going to the Philippines and to the States. My home to Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) just one hour away by train. By bus 30 minutes. Going to Narita International Airport takes two hours by train or by bus one hour & half. I rather use Haneda every time. Prices varies during the year. Last April I paid $1500 to Manila and past September I paid $850. My motto “I don’t care how much is the airfare as long I have airplane seat”. Great subject today’s video.

To the Philippines from SFO I’ve flown PAL, Cathay, ANA (All Nippon Air), and Asiana. As Manila usually isn’t my final destination I’ve only flown PAL a couple of times. They were late both times and my entertainment system wasn’t working properly on all 4 legs. Service was ok, but they’re usually the most expensive by far. Cathay sometimes has decent prices, but you have to stop in Hong Kong and then backtrack to Manila or Cebu. Asiana sometimes has good prices and you can go to either Manila or Cebu from Seoul. They used to offer either a city tour or a hotel room for the long layover on the way back to the states. I don’t think that they do that anymore. ANA also has good prices. We delayed our layover for 4 days on the way back once so we could tour Tokyo. We had to pay for our own hotel of course, but ANA didn’t charge extra for extending the layover. My girlfriend took EVA when she went to the Philippines last March by herself. She wasn’t overly impressed, but she said that it was ok. The Roundtrip ticket was $900. I’ve only ever flown a U.S. carrier to Asia once. I took United from SFO to Hong Kong in 1998. The service was, of course, much much worse than their Asian counterparts. If Manila isn’t your final destination, I would highly recommend doing a layover in Seoul, Tokyo, or Taipei. The ticket will probably be much less expensive and you can avoid the Manila airport. I would avoid taking Air China. You have to stop in Beijing and backtrack. A friend of mine did that and the Beijing airport security took his very expensive camera lens and told him that it wasn’t allowed. It was just a secondary security screening between connecting flights. He had no choice but to give it up.

I have had a similar experience on PAL. I don’t mind on short or domestic flights, but I do care on longer flights.

It's been so long since you've taken United, have had a lot of good trips with them to South America, you may want to try again sometime if the price is right. You can take from SFO to Taipei and then EVA to CRK.

@@Mr_RD-1876 I’ve taken United domestic flights many times. I also took United from SFO to London in 2019. The service was ok, but the main thing was that the roundtrip ticket was $360. If the price is right I would take them to Asia again, but if the ticket prices are the same I would lean towards the Asian carriers.

I've flown to the Philippines several times myself. The first thing I look for is if you have a layover how long is it going to be. Overall I really don't want a flight over 24 hours in total. One airline that you mentioned, EVA, gets someone there in 22 hours with a small two to three hour layover in Taiwan before going on to the Philippines. I've also flown Singapore Airlines and they usually have lengthy flights. Great airline but it takes a few extra hours to get there. Singapore's Airport is magnificent. Taiwan's airport is rather bland. They got a lot of the duty-free shops in Taiwan but there is no convenience stores whatsoever in case you wanted to snack on something. There is vending machines placed all around the terminal. I have also flown Philippine Airlines out of LA and the experience was okay. The plane was an older triple seven. It did have an entertainment center but it was very outdated. One big negative about flying international with Philippine Airlines is there is a lot of older people that need special assistance that ride with Philippine Airlines and sometimes the loading and offloading can take a little extra time which can delete the flight a little bit.
I'd never rode business class or premium economy. I've always rode regular economy. The price is that was mentioned in this video is a few hundred dollars more than what I have paid so I'm assuming the prices that was mentioned was for premium or business.
Actually when I flew out of O'Hare with EVA that flight was $932 for economy round trip. At least one thing good with Philippine Airlines though is that you fly directly into Manila. United Airlines is now flying direct flights into Manila out of San Francisco and I think soon will be flying out of LA as well directly into Manila.
Prior to the pandemic I used to fly with China Eastern Airlines, which is a Chinese carrier. We would have a brief layover in Shanghai and then I would go on to Cebu. Yeah the airline was a little bland but the tremendous of side to that was in 2019 I was paid $545 round trip in April 2019. Then I went back there in late September of 2019 and that flight was $520 round trip. Miss those days

There's also the Singapore airlines option to both MNL and CEB. For MNL from NYC in some cases SQ will be half the price of PR127 JFK-MNL in the case of SQ cheap deal to MNL it uses the worlds longest flight SQ21 from EWR Terminal B to connect to SQ918 to MNL T3 in SIN. Among the East asian 5 star skytrax carriers to serve MNL and CEB these are CX KE/OZ South Korea SQ and BR from Taiwan. I’m flying to Thailand from the U.S. every month. Usually in Biz, but I’m retired and cannot always pay the price they charge for Bus. Having said that, I will comment on Philippine Bus class, only because it was the lowest fare in Biz that week I was traveling. It was a significant savings, but was it worth it? The SFO MNL leg was on a beautiful 777-300ER, but the Business class seats were not 180 degree lie flat, and you are seated very close to another passenger, which might be a concern for many customers. So, that’s a real problem with Philippine Airlines. Although service was excellent, and tasty food (especially porridge for a mid flight snack). The second leg was MNL - BKK, on a new Airbus A-321. Very comfortable Bus class, for a narrow body jet, and just as on the long flight from SFO, I enjoyed excellent service and food.
Another flight I enjoyed when I was seated in Economy was on JAL. The NRT BKK leg was on a B-787-8. There is no Premium Economy on a JAL 787-8 (perhaps the 787-9, or 787-10 do have PE, but not on the -8). I had an aisle seat, just aft of Door 3R (not the most aft door). Good legroom. Reasonably comfortable seat, and excellent service by JAL crew.
When I fly on UAL out of SFO, I enjoy the Polaris lounge if flying Biz class. Best lounge on the West coast. My experience on UA over several decades, is that their service is up to par with some international carriers (I miss flying First Class on their B-747 from NRT BKK). Clearly there are other airlines that do better, but some do much worse. I like the UA network (largest airline in Pacific), and excellent fleet. Never any issues with United.

We always fly Korean Air. The pricing isn't the cheapest. You'll have a layover in Inchon but KAL's terminal has free showers and seats great for snoozing. KAL's flights are into Manila and Cebu. I would never ever consider a Chinese or American airline.

I have flown on PAL a good bit and I never had any problems with them. We fly out of LAX when we go to the Philippines and we like to look for cheaper flights and we don't mind having a layover as long as it's only for a few hours because we don't want to spend all day or night at the airport. On some flights you can see the amount of leg room that the seats have and I noticed before that some airlines have 2 or 3 inches more room between the row of seats than others have for about the same price so that might be something to look for as well when choosing an airline to fly on.

@drew5367 I flew PAL from JFK to Manila just this past Memorial Day holiday. Flight was delayed TWICE the very same evening going to Manila. Caused me to miss a connecting flight in NAIA. I had to pay for a new flight to Cebu. When I was ready to fly back home PAL CANCELLED MY FLIGHT The VERY Same Day (like hours before my flight was scheduled to get back home). And then they tried to push my return flight to 5 DAYS LATER! Got home and they lost my luggage (I thought, it was just delayed getting to me the next day). I will NEVER FLY PAL AGAIN IN MY LIFE! And I have been flying for over 20 years now regularly

at my age I really don’t like to make any layovers in any other international airports when I’m going to Manila, so I often go LAX or SFO to Manila but I recently found out that JF Kennedy airport in New York has a direct flight to Manila no layover whatsoever and it’s cheaper than the LAX or San Francisco flight. This is on Philippine Airlines and I just booked, a flight for my fiancé to come from Manila to here and it was a favorable rate on a nonstop to New York

As a followup….. could you review the layover airports?
For example, my wife and I have so far always come through Incheon since we flew on Korean Air (most convenient to Cebu from Eastern US airports). But while it is a very pretty modern airport and it is awesome if you want to shop for purses, perfume, or alchohol. It is a terrible airport for food options. We don’t fly in to Manila since we go to Cebu and Leyte mainly.
How do the other airports compare for amenities?

I usually use PAL when I lived Kansas City. Now I live in Las Vegas but last year my trip to the Philippines on PAL was the worse flights I had a nonstop flight from LAX to MNL and back a month before they change planes now we had a technical stop in Hawaii added 5 hours to the flight and then Thursday before I was returning to the US I get an email from PAL saying my to LAX on Monday will leave a few hours later because they changed planes again now we were stopping in Seoul, Korea for another technical stop. With this change now I had to call Jet Blue because now I will miss my connecting flight to Las Vegas. I finally talked with PAL they would have airline personnel waiting for me in Los Angeles. After a few hours I finally decided to rent a car and drive to Vegas because they couldn't get me a flight until the next day. I used Expedia to book my flight from Las Vegas to LA. Lesson learn I'll only book through the airlines.

Im in Cebu right now and flew Starlux Airlines, $960 round-trip. I literally walked off my flight in Taipei and on to my connecting flight to Cebu with no layover. There brand new Airbus A350-900s with the biggest new 13" screens for viewing and good food. You can fly in January out of Los Angeles or San Francisco to Cebu for $960. I flew Cathay Pacific round-trip in April and May out of San Francisco for a screaming deal of only $679 with a three hour layover in Taipei. I like Starlux better.

@johnnypastrana6727 I hope you guys have a good flight. A couple of suggestions for you. Make sure to go online 48 hours before your flight to pick your seats. I got the exact seat I wanted, no problem. I did, though, pay to get a front row seat on my way back because I'm 6'4" and wanted that extra room. Also, if you join their frequent flyers club and you're an Alaska Airlines member, when you check in, you can ask them to use your Alaska Airlines member number. These points go a long way on Alaska Airlines, and with one round-trip flight, I earned enough miles for a free one-way ticket on Alaska. I hope you guys have a good flight and trip.

I have to say that Because I have frequent flyer miles from Cathay I like them as it was the quickest to Manila , Korean Air was also very good the service was excellent just had a long layover but the service was excellent the food was very good , Philippines Air was the cheapest and was also good out of those 3 Cathay was the best but Korean air was a very close second all these flights were flown out JFK in NYC. If you would’ve said positive things about Philippine Airlines, I would’ve seriously questioned your credibility. I’ve NEVER, EVER heard a single positive comment about them. In fact, they are notoriously infamous, For constantly stealing from peoples luggage. Recently, a”female security officer”, Was caught on camera, attempting to swallow, the money she stole from someone’s luggage. Even after she was caught on camera, she still tried to deny it. Stay away, stay away, stay away, stay away from Philippine airlines.

I have flown them a few times. Very limited entertainment. If super cheap I will take them 😜😜😜

Man o man, go Singapore airlines. Top shelf airline and you get a nice layover in changi airport-world class airport which puts any US airport or airline to shame. Any Asian airline is acceptable

I agree. I can spend 4-5 hours easy in that airport

If You Are Traveling to the Philippines 🇵🇭 Out of JFK Terminal 1 I Recommend Flying With Philippine Airlines. They Offer Straight Flights Directly to Manila Ninoy international Airport. 16 Hours 😁 However I Recommend Flying Business Class So That You Have Some Leg Room. Yes if You Are Flying Anywhere Within the Philippines 🇵🇭 I Recommend Cebu Pacific as Well.

My family and I just did RT from Chicago to Manila and back on the new UNITED route from San Francisco to Manila and back in early November and returning on Thanksgiving. I was NOT impressed. I have flown DELTA, ANA, PAL and my wife flew QATAR. Personally, based on service on the flights, UNITED RANKED LAST for me. I was very disappointed.
To me, DELTA is the clear winner with PAL coming in second, then ANA and then United. My wife was really impressed with QATAR -- got a free upgrade because she was traveling alone.
Oh, you mention CEBU PACIFIC airlines. I have flown both AIR ASIA and CEBU PACIFIC (from Manila to Bohol and back) -- both are good airlines, however, AIR ASIA no longer has customer service by phone -- bot only. CEBU PACIFIC has phone customer service. CEBU PACIFIC website was much easier to navigate for adding things like extra luggage, etc.
Funny you mention DELTA and "seniority of the flight crew". I had Mrs. Doubtfire on my flight... she was great and things were good, but she wasn't the 20 year old flight attendants that AIR ASIA and CEBU PACIFIC uses. 🤣😂🤣

why does Philippines Airlines fly small single-aisle plane as shown A320 to the Philippines?
Vancouver is closest N. American city flying to SE Asia. Don't forget Air Canada for jumping to Asia

@@PaulWorldZoom I don't understand why Canada struggles with our 38 million pop to maintain just one international airline when New Zealand and Singapore can create global airlines.

just flew from San Francisco to Manila direct on United Airlines. What a disappointment. Old plane, bad cheap food, filthy restrooms and the worst cabin crew service i have ever experienced. Will never give United my international business again. Buyer beware.
