In this video I continue progressing and manage to complete the "Growing Threat" mutation mission in StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void on Brutal. My co-op partner is in this mission is Lilbow, a very high level Protoss player.

They don't mutate from killing units, but from attacking them. At least thats what the description said.
I think there's a chance they mutate after dealing damage, but at the same time they mutate 100% when they kill an unit.

Why is it "nice"? This mutation is obviously gimmicky as fuck. So why would you not take advantage of the gimmick? Spider mines make "hard" easy.

Well I could do that, but I'm not really in a speaking mood at 3 in the morning, which is when I wake up to do the mutation posts on BNet and play the mutation on SEA.
Also, I'm worried that having a non-USAian accent would do more harm than good, y'know?
You know it's a difficult one when even the pros struggle for 8 hrs. Reminds me of old school games. Very well done guys

Your sim city needs work. You lose more cannons than you should since you don't have enough batteries shielding them.
That Alarak though is a BEAST O_o
You should have seen how Crank handled this... Raynor, Vulture spider mines, and done... they covered the map with mines and you can more or less afk.
Lilbow and Lowko.. these two might just be one of the deadliest combos up to date
I was thinking about trying mutation mode, but after watching the video, I will continue with regular brutal missions

This mission is way harder than last week's. Last week was just frigging annoying with the vertigo, but this just pure hell.

A Co-op map where you have to relocate from a moving wall of death like in that one WoL mission would be nice
Problem is, only works with terran, cause the other races can‘t move their base structures.

Alarak and Karax - When Solarite meets Terrazine
A truly epic victory.
We did it using Zag and Alarak. Banelings, Scourge, and Ascendants. As long as you micro well to back out from the nuke blasts it will work, eventually :).
"suplicants are here for sacrifice" not the best thing to do where every sacrifice makes your opponent stronger
+CompletelyRandomNick Sacrifices for Alarak and the Ascendents that is. They don't count t as kills.

The Silver Protoss players on the Ladder were right all along, you need as many canons as possible
now, you have to get your gas as early as possible.

Did they nurf this? I tried hard all week and now it just worked like a piece of cake with Vorazun and a random Artanis against AirTerran :)
Didn't even loose a bot - guardian shields, emergency recall, dark pylon teleport, disruption web etc ftw!

Oh my god... I never noticed that Karax could insta warp LOL time to level the perks up
Your Karax would be slightly improved if you moved your Chrono Boost on the Nexus somewhere else after your done making probes. Having it get your research out faster and make carriers faster for such a small thing is huge.
Just passed with alark+Raynor. Spider mine gives my alark sufficient time to feed ascendants and when ascendants are fed nuclear nuke is no longer an issue (ascendants have 1040 shield).

Does lowko realize yet that they don't have to kill your units to get upgraded all they have to do is attack your units

A Zerg Commander, might do well on this map! Quick unit production... efficient economy...strong units...units self repair!
LOL! You should watch the other vid of Lowko for this mutation. Zerg was a terrible idea for this mutation. Because enemy's units evolve whenever deal damage and zergling and locus from toxic nest were just their sweet protein!
Well, I did say, "might"! I didn't know about the other video! I'll have to check it out! However, if you put 1 seige tank behind another, & a third behind it, you get near semi-auto cannon fire! X2 per entrance, & you'll keep out anything from a base, + bunkers filled with troops! I just love the sound of seige tanks firing! LOL!
This "Growing Threat" mutation is voted in the top 2 of the most difficult mutation with "Shir Chaos".
You should stick with Artanis and his life saving shields

what u can do with vorazun is place a dark pylon to make the bot invisible and have the hybrid attack the pylon, giving the bot just enough time to get out of nuke range

I have tried this with Karax at the beginning, but I soon realized that it was a no go. I also tried it with Alarak, leveled up templar seemed the way to go, but the smallest mistakes will end the game, and I'm just not good enough :( :) Then I beat it with Artanis tempest (+spider mines) soon after I also switched to Raynor and beat it a couple of more times (+void rays from my teammate for example). Zagara was also good.
Swann / Artanis or Swann / Vorazun works wonderfully on this mutation, I won with Swann/Vorazun

i won with zagara by building hives and massing spine and spore crallers around all the objectives
Lilbow is a Protoss player and Lowko is a Zerg player neither have raynor leveled up xD
Soooo, you should do some custom mutation videos with different pros from around the league. 4/5 mutations at a time on brutal would be insanely fun to watch. +1; KAPOW

Well you finally got your difficult mutation mission like you asked
How he's like:"Alarak for early game aggression because he falls off in the late game and then Vorazun can carry" and then has trouble killing Hybrids when Ascendants with Power Overwhelming are easily the stronkest unit in the game and can rapidfire Mind blast for approximately sixteen asstons (technical term) of damage and the orb-thingy can just delete the broodling waves before they evolve. Wrong use of Alarak my friend.
Raynor pure vulture mines make this so much easier ;)
Ben Raboine on my first try with the strategy I was able to clean up the enemies. Spamming mines works pretty well and on top of that the nukes can't kill it.
This is not a good thing tho. This proves just how gimmicky the mutation is. And it's not good, when there's only one (out of hundred) viable strategy, and when something else takes 2 of the world's top players to pull off.
***** Yes, but they still have to allow for at least one viable strategy from each commander. Zag is detrimental one here because her units are easily killable.
Kirill Nielson the strategy works but half the effort goes to the other person who pushed back the enemies while I was planting the mines. Believe me it still required strategy and planning. After the game, I tried playing with random players and I do get fair amount of losses because the other person didn't coordinate well. Sometimes the AI would bring out more air units and my vultures and mines can't attack it at all. So it's not quite as easy like the first time I beat it.
Mass bane works very well on this mission because the enemy can't mutate since every time they kill a bane, they die. Just team with someone with strong aa.
So Lilbow still plays starcraft after all?
Nobody truly every leaves StarCraft 2.

All you need to do is look at the victory screen of my attempts. You can see the commander, the party, the mutation name, and the amount of XP I gain. There is no possible way that the video is on any other difficulty than Brutal if all those things are accurate.

What if you try to time your push when the hybrid are about to die? , they seem to be the ones exploding and doing the most damage
Personally would've done Artanis mass tempest with Vorazun mass void ray
Managed to do it on brutal with karax and artanis combo but this week is hard as FUCK Just build mass turrerts worked quite well with tempests
