I read a comment earlier stating that this song was during their “ lean years. Now reading your comment about their worst era. I never got into Kiss music until about 20 years ago because I was preoccupied listening to the stuff my school buddies were into. It was good music but Kiss was a little before our time, so I didn’t know Kiss history. Why are the early 80’s dubbed as being their worst stuff? I think all their stuff is good.

And they simply lost their popularity after Dynasty, lost it even more after Unmasked and lost it almost completely after The Elder. Then right after The Elder they put out a compilation album with four new songs on it as the label was desperate to turn the picture around. Eventually it did turn around. The music got back on track, according to the fan base, after Creatures of the night, and then they sort of became reborn as a band and popular again after Lick it up. Cause the creature of the night tour wasn't successful either. In the 70s there was a huge gap between people listening to disco and people listening to rock music, so when Kiss did Dynasty flirting with disco and pop suddenly a lot of the fans that saw them live 73-77 abandoned the band temporarily and instead the audience was filled of kids with their parents on the 79 tour. Mixed in with older fans of course. It was a successful tour, but the demographic of the audience changed. Also they sold a ton of merchandise and at one point it was a fair question whether Kiss was more of a rock band or more of a phenomenon created to sell toys. And also on top of all this Peter Criss and Ace Frehley were fired and quit the band between 1980-1982. And for any band to loose 50% of their members aswell as a lot of fans who simply didn't buy The Elder or demanded to see them live. It was not a good period for the band. Also, any band attracting 6-7-8-9 year olds to the audience, it's simply not a cool thing to be a part of if you're 17-22 years old.

Like so many of the Kiss songs of this era of Kiss they are now sadly hidden classics that Kiss never play. Sadly this era of songs were done when Pauls vocals were at their best maturity. Obviously thats not what we have on the EOTR tour. If only Ace was in the band now he could relieve Paul during the concerts. Ace can still sing & play live fine.

By far one of the best songs ever, how it did not become a staple is mind boggling, but we could say that for quite a few songs during the 80's.
unfortunately, when he said who'd sing it, i think he meant who in KISS would sing it, he cant reach the high register in that song anymore
