Thank you Dr. Tobias. For these exercises. My issue is that I tore my meniscus and damaged my ACL. I have had issues with fully extending my right leg, so it has caused problems for my gait when walking, putting extra pressure on both my lower back and hips. I have found that when I become too sore. I am dragging my leg behind me. People tend to ask me if I suffered a stroke. No, that isn't the issue. What can you recommend for stimulation of the calve muscle. I find when I walk a lot it tends to start spasming. I put all of my focus in walking because I have almost fell a couple of times. It is really quite embarrassing.

From your experience, do you expect noticeable progress with balance and gait from patients who had strokes years ago? I understand that majority of motor function and coordination rehab tends to happen several months post-CVA but what about after that? Of course it's variable but I'm wondering if in general you've seen patients improve long afterwards. I recently began working with patients who had strokes years ago and I'm a bit unsure what their potential is. They seem very set in their current gait patterns via negative neuroplasticity (I think that's what you called it) and I'm currently working on their quality movement and increasing their reliance on their affected side. Thanks in advance.

Thank you great advice. When in my wheelchair I have to keep my left leg (stroke side) slightly extended because I can’t bend it at the correct angle I am only able to be in my wheelchair for about an hour due to excruciating pain in my left buttock that runs into the back of the knee. How can I reduce the pain so I can stay in my wheelchair longer
