Thank you so much! You are sooo helpful, love you! You even motivated me to get good grades & major in business administration & minor in economics and finance.
Katherout Hi I'm been in a on call cleaning job since September. I've never worked but been in training. My manager is new but struggling with her cleaning services. She only has me as her client. She has her own way of the last time I worked with her was last Sat. Now it's Thurs. Time is winding up. She had her own way of assigning me tasks. Sometimes i think she lets things get the best of her.She never had me out these many days. She never even text me. Is this just a lay off.? Should I call her?
I was having a sucky day and even though I am not in college yet nor do i plan on applying for a job anytime soon you still managed to make my day with your positivity and just seeing how much you care to get this out to your viewers-keep being you!
hope tomorrow treats you better! thank you so much for this sweet note :)
This is the realest, most helpful advice, thank you!
TYTYTY it means so much to me!
This is awesome!! I'm going to be a college freshman next year & to know these tips so early is very helpful! Thank you :)
I didn't start using these until my SENIOR year! so if you start during your freshman year you will absolutely kill it!
Katherout Ahhh yay!! Thank you! I binge watched a bunch of your videos a few weeks ago & they have been so helpful to me, especially your college ones. I really love your channel, as it has helped me out a lot :) Can't wait to see more!!
Thank you so much for this video!!!!!! I'm a freshman in college right now but I'm trying really hard to find summer jobs and internships, and I feel like this helped so much
YAYAY
im getting into marketing right now! im also a freshman in college and these tips are definitely going to be useful! thank you and hope you enjoy your job and senior year!!
thanks, Helen!!!
what great tips! thanks for sharing! will definitely be borrowing a few of these tips for the job searching I'm currently doing
love your videos!
you got this!!
I am so excited for you! I think the tips that will be the most helpful to me is checking other people's job description to work on my resume!
I am a marketing major and my dream job is to be a PR for a brand I love ( for example Pixi beauty) and work with TH-camr on brand deals!
Or I would love to work with Mekanism which is a Marketing company! The CEO of that company is actually a Alumni of my school so I hope that will help me land a job there
I should totally look into Mekanism!! seems like a very unique opportunity
This is the most informative TH-cam video I have ever watched. Thank you!
Girl I love this!! Congrats. I am still in high school but my dream would be to do something for cosmopolitan or NBC or a psychology place
ah so cool!
These tips were amazing!! I've been applying to internships for months now and had never heard of any of this tips. I'm definitely going to incorporate them going forward. My dream job would be something with consumer products, I'm a junior engineering major so either designing new products or manufacturing current products would be great
that is so cool! i love product design
Katherout It's such a cool field! Every time I look at a product now I think about all the designing and testing that went into creating the final product. I've been a little late to the game on some internship positions but I hope to be in this field when I graduate next year
Hey Katherine! Great video, but this was definitely geared towards business majors/people who want a career in business. I think you should have put a disclaimer that not everybody's job search is quite like this. The way you go about the job search is definitely going to vary depending on what industry you want to work in.
Ah! this is true. wish i could give a comprehensive industry advice video but unfortunately I'm not too keen on anything else but business! I still think the majority of these tips are applicable (maybe not the list of 20 companies advice, but finding an alum in that field and organizing it into a spreadsheet, writing thank you notes are all worthy!)
Thanks for uploading these videos. I just realized that I wanted to major in economics and business in USC, and your video just helped me know that it is possible to get a job after graduation without getting really lost.
it is definitely an overwhelming process, but I hope these tips solidify the job search for you.
i'm so excited for you, katherine!!! and thanks so much for always sharing advice and tips. you're the best
so thankful for your support!!!
I really like that tip about the thank you notes👍 that's very clever!!
Thanks so much for all the great advice 😊
This was a really great video! I've been following your college advice and tips for years and now I'm a sophomore in college and really feel like I am thriving. It's so cool to see how far you've come too.
I was wondering, if you could look back at your previous years in college, what is one thing you wish you did so that you may have had an easier time finding jobs? I'm studying business as well and understand how tight the job market can be when many people offer similar skillsets to you. Thank you Katherine! The future is looking bright for you!!
so glad to hear you're thriving!! honestly all of these things are what i wish i had done earlier. it was pretty easy to find jobs once I had older students share their lists!
This is totally random but you have gorgeous eyes!
And nice video as always!
Thanks, Zoya!!
I know I'll definitely be using this video in the future when I start applying for jobs and internships! My dream job at the moment is working in the marketing department for Google!
it is so tough to get into marketing for Google! you have to start in Sales and then move into the department internally
This sounds absolutely exhausting! I'm applying to graduate school soon and several of these tips are useful for that too! Definitely saving this video for future reference. Great video, love your channel!
UR SUCH A CUTE PASTEL BABBY. also you're gettin close to 100,000!!
my dream career is essentially some combo Steve Irwin/Jane Goodall/Jack Hanna type of way. plus writing children's books about wildlife and hopefully getting at least a tad involved with public policy 😛
vvvvv pastel! and YES to Jane Goodall I dressed up as her for Halloween back in the day she's such a role model
Super great advice, learned a lot that I didn't previously know. Thanks Katherine!!
my pleasure!
This is awesome for those who want this type of job...too bad my job search and hiring process is totally different.
which field are you going into?
Katherout Education. I'm graduating in May as well. Some of these tips can be reworked/worded to fit but our "internship" or student teaching process is different as is the application/interview process I've found. I'm so happy you found a job I bet that makes the end of senior year less stressful. *fingers crossed* for me. I won't know until June or July at the earliest. 😬
Katherine you are incredible and i love this and needed this SO much
Loved this video! Great advice, yet again :) thanks Katherine!!
you are too kind!!
Thanks for the tips! I'm planning on going to OSU (Ohio State) for Business/Marketing (with double minor in communications and video arts) and I plan to either be a tour manager or open my own music/artist management. And being in Ohio it's not the best for music labels but an arena down the street has an internship for people planning on going into the music management field and I have a few connections into the music industry. But the internship seems to be very selective and it never seems to have an opening. So wish me luck for a second semester internship.
thanks for this video I'm currently applying to internships. I love to intern for NBC or state senator or congressman.
good luck! go kill those interviews
Emma Thor How did you do?
I absolutely love your videos. You're amazing and thank you for the advice.
My dream job would definitely be working for the CDC as an epidemiologist or researcher, but I have a ways to go considering I'm in my freshman year at USC. :)
that is so cool!!! fight on!!!
I plan on becoming a biological (environmental) engineer. I would like to start out at a small company before working for the EPA. I'm pretty sure I will be attending Penn State this coming fall, so I know that I'll be able to make a lot of connections and land a few internships :))))) I'm super excited but nervous since I feel like I'm walking into a world I know nothing about.
PS: your video can also help high school seniors find and win scholarships. You have to be super willing to write tons of long essay and get no results. So far I won $10,000 spread over four years, and I'm really trying to win as much as I can :)
WOW THAT'S AMAZING!!! I remember working really hard to secure scholarships before college but more or less striking out so you should be super proud!
Hi Katherine!! Thanks for the tips! 😊
my absolute pleasure!
This was such an amazing video and so informative!
Awesome video! Hoping to get accepted into USC in April and eventually land a job as a game developer
Perfect adivice, thank you!
Love these tips, and I love your channel!!! When I go on interviews, I like to send out a thank you email within 24 hours of the interview.
yOU GO GIRL
Thanks for this!! Some great tips c
what's your job after college?? love the video!!!!💖💖
Thanks so much this was an awesome video!!
Submitting you resume onto a website where 100's of people are also applying for the same job you are greatly gives you slim chance next to nothing in even getting acknowledged. That's why I hate applying online.
Many companies don't even accept walk ins. They simply tell you to apply on their website. and then when you do, many times you need to register all you personal information before you can begin applying to their jobs. Sometimes they won't even contact you.
If you ask the front desk if they have open positions, they will just tell you they don't know for sure but you can apply online and IF there happens to be an opening and IF they feel your qualified for the position, then they may contact you. Have a nice day.
Thank you so much! This was so helpful
THANK YOU!!!! This was so helpful :)
glad you found it helpful!
Your advice are really useful 👍👍
I basically did all of this and then after getting my co-op job, I told my friends who were having troubles with the application process these tips. These tips are proven! Haha
WOOOOO appreciate you backing me up :)
I've been using LinkedIn for some time now ... but I wasn't aware of the other resources. This is really helpful !!! I'm thinking about joining the alumni society of USC. :) Thank you !
Charitha B Katherout fan too!! :D
oh my god !!!! brindaaa ... I met her on the campus once. She is so much taller in person. ❤
Charitha B Omg! ❤️ I'm waiting to meet her! Love her videos! ❤️
Great advice thanks!
I have applied for soo may jobs like more than 15 probably.
On my CV i have put done everything they need to know about me .e.g. personal details, Education.... however, i have never had a job, ( i am 18 years old) i know this sounds bad but, when i was 16+ my parents didn't let me have a job, they would say you need to focus on your education more.........
I dot know what to do anymore, I NEED A JOB ASAP !!!!!
thank you that was really helpful! I'm an env. science major
You would be the best career counselor ever!!!!!
My dream job would be working for one of my favorite MLB teams 🙂
Thanks for the advice 😘
the sports industry is super popular at USC!
Congrats on graduating I'm watching this and I'm just trying to get through junior year of high school lol
heyhey junior year was a grind! best of luck with powering thru!
Thank you for this!!
thanks so much for watching, Cici!
such great tips!!! I actually just applied to some jobs and I'm having such a hard time finding a contact email! They have a "help" customer service email, but I'm not sure if it's crossing a line if I email that email to follow up on a job. Any advice on what to do?
It is better if you simply contact the store and ask for their Human Resource manager or hiring manager to follow up on a job. Hope this helps.
makes sense. thank you!!
i wouldn't email if you've already submitted the application unless you have questions!
Loved these tips!!!
Thanks, Lauren!
this is very helpful, thank you! I was just wondering if you know LinkedIn is an effective way of getting a response from the recruiter?
Incredible video thank you so much!!
of course!!!
when should you start job searching in order to have a job out of college?
Jennifer Garcia senior year
when should I start looking for a job? I'm only in my first year of a bachelor's degree (3 years) and then have to do a master's (2 years). I don't really want to start working in my field before I have my bachelor's since I presently have a good job even though it has nothing to do with what I'll be doing. When did you start?
i'll cover this in the next video on my channel!
AAAAAAAAAA! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! ❤
YOU ARE SO WELCOME!
In another video you mentioned how you got into UCB but chose USC over it. US news ranks UCB Business higher than USC. So just curious as to why you chose the latter. How good is USC's business program in terms of faculty, internships rankings etc. Im applying to business school this year and any advice would greatly help!
Love your shirt, where did you buy it?
Happy graduation 😃👩🎓
Hello! I was wondering if you did DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) anytime during your high school career? DECA is a marketing/business club/organization that participates in national and international level competitions in both high school and college.
We didn't have that club at my high school while I was there!
That's too bad! I joined last year during my junior year of high school and it was what showed me my passion for marketing :).
im starting uni this fall and im already worried about getting a job !! T_T I'm planning to major in neuroscience and psych
i remember i was stressed about this too. i think you should do your best to enjoy your first year and only start thinking about internships and stuff your second or third year!!
How soon should you start applying? I am graduating in six months, and some people suggest that I start applying now. What do you say?
Dream job would be digital artist 🤗 this was some great advice
2:34 santa claus is coming to town
LOVE THAT YOU CAUGHT THAT
I'd love a job at Greenpeace or a writing/art related job or something where I can help ppl without having to be that social. Oh that reminds me, how on earth does one survive an interview when struggling from social anxiety..?
I am applying to transfer to USC for film. I am very very nervous!!
Elizabeth Lopez Goodluck!
A bit off topic, but I'm a sophomore, and my grades have been average. Not great, not terrible. So I have 2 and a half school years left in high school, if I crack down now do you think I could somehow bounce back, and hopefully be accepted to a good college. I'm afraid my laziness screwed me over, this past year.
I know I'm not Katherine, but yes!!! Colleges want to see you do better each year. I had B's & C's freshman year. Sophomore year I managed to get B's & a couple of A's & a D. However, I had straight A's all of Junior year & my first semester of Senior year. Definitely worth it because it'll help your GPA. Also try to challenge yourself & take Honors/AP/Dual Enrollment courses. Extremely helpful. Good luck !
lol, also forgot to mention why it's totally worth it! I brought my GPA up (3.4) & managed to get into a great university in Tennessee
Cynthia xo Thanks so much! This gives me hope, I grew up with most people breathing down my neck about how C's on progress reports would absolutely CRUSH my dreams and that I wouldn't be able to go where I'd want to go. Thanks for taking time out of your day (or night lol) to reply, and congrats! If you don't mind me asking, what are you really pursuing? Major wise, I mean.
RT RT RT
omg, i'm so late sorry 🙃, but I was accepted at the University of Tennessee Knoxville to major in Finance & at another college I was accepted to major in Business Administration with a minor in Economics & Finance.
Appreciate it!
Thank you so much
I'm 14. Why am I looking for a job?
great advice
I want to be a midwife for a local OBGYN company in my hometown :)
What should I say in the thank you note?
And is it too bad if I add my business card to the thank you note?
Hi I know I'm not Katherine...but I would suggest including a reference to your interview, thanking your interviewer for his/her time, and a quick sentence on why you feel you'd be good for the position/why you want the position. I'd say no on the business card, but I'm no professional lol
Thank you for your opinion and for taking your time :)
Agree with Katrina! Say something different with each thank you card you write -- comment on something you learned from the interviewer about the company that you appreciated!
Hello, I had to see your video 3 times, your very pretty blue eyes on my 4k TV paralyzes my brain. Congratulations and continue good work. Bye
Remember meeee if I get buried!!
