Just remembered when Gainan told Picard in the TNG "Best of Both Worlds" as they prepared to fight the Borg that the Federation would survive as long as enough of them survive to preserve the spirit of the Federation. If this does not represent the spirit of the Federation, then I know what does.
These scenes are the reason why I want my son to listen to Star Trek some day. We need that kind of thoughtful and optimistic messages right now (and gosh we could also use some Carl Sagan also). If there is one thing that failing democratic governments throughout the world and the global pandemy have teached us, is that we are nothing without each other. And that when all else is lost, the future still remains.
This is what Starfleet, the Federation and Star Trek is in the end. A nation of true believers. No matter the time, hope is the most important thing to have in times of darknesses.
It's actually an old Roddenberry theme. Remember Andromeda Ascendant, before that Genesis II, Planet Earth, and Strange New World. Only difference is that it's not Dylan Hunt and not the Systems Commonwealth or Pax.
Discovery at times like these is like Star Trek poetry. Maybe sometimes it doesn't make absolute, exact, 100% sense? But the FEELING is there, unmistakably.
I've been here since I was a boy, with William Shatner...these moments are Starlight on a dark night is someone life. To me it's the reason for asking the questions which ....may, some day take us where no one has gone before. Although I know, that for now, we may not venture far..
Yeah, the real world is depressing isn't it. Society seems to cater for the selfish and materialistic facets of our nature, instead of the cooperative, scientific, logical and explorative facets. The pandemic should demonstrate, encourage and celebrate the importance of the latter facets, but I doubt it will.
One thing that would make this scene even better is if we hear the classic Trek theme when the flag was raised. Regardless, this is a lovely scene. Excellent acting, powerful and hopeful message, and sets up what seems to be an interesting story.
nah. nostalgia bait when the entire season is set 1000 years in the future doesn't fit and would seem cheap. they know they can play that melody any time and get star trek nerds tearing up.
Hes not a fully commision officer before burnham appointed him to be a one because the federation mostly collapsed after the burn and they cannot go that far from other quadrant and only remnant remain
I dont watch this show but he JUST said a COMMISSIONED OFFICER could raise the flag. Then I heard her make him a CHIEF. Can someone correct me if I'm mistaken. I don't think she understands it OR I don't understand it
Ok, can anyone please tell me what this pull up for precise seeking crap is about? I'm really getting fed up with seeing it, and if it continues, I may just delete the app from my phone! It's ticking me off big time!!🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
You know, for all of Discovery's faults I don't see how people can blindly hate it when it has scenes this good.
Cause scenes like this were just too few and far between. The show spent far too long trying to make you hate it’s bridge crew.
"Our numbers are few, but our spirit is underminish"@@matt4825
What are you talking about, this is cringe.
@@TrekkieTrekTrekker Then why are you watching it? Plenty of other stuff on YT to watch..
@@markfuston2714 I need this video for an essay I'm making, sadly.

I like that the admiral actually let sahil join when burnham found starfleet

Well said. Thank you for your comment!
Yes, one of the best top 100 moments of ALL of Star Trek. But in my top 10.
Who is come here to see Adil Hussain scene only

I'm hoping to see more of Sahil in season 5. Fantastic character.
What a powerful performance from Adil Hussain. When he says those words, "our numbers are few, but our spirit is undiminished", you believe him.
So well done.. and written.. this scene..
It's one of the most Star Trek scenes in discovery so far, alongside select Pike scenes like the one with Jacob in his basement.
Rebuilding Starfleet is an intriguing storyline. I'm looking forward to this season.
It's actually an old Roddenberry theme. Remember Andromeda Ascendant, before that Genesis II, Planet Earth, and Strange New World. Only difference is that it's not Dylan Hunt and not the Systems Commonwealth or Pax.
One of the best scenes in Discovery.
Not a huge Discovery fan, but this scene hit it out of the park.
I really liked this scene a lot.
I'm still processing it. All the feels. LLAP

My favourite scene in all of Star Trek. So humbling.
each time I watch this scene, tears and chills.
This is why I love the Federation.
I would love to see him in Season 4. He is vital. He can report what is happening with the anomaly
Proud to be an Assamese.. Indian
Adil Hussain great Actor
He is fantastic and criminally underrecognized

This is one of the few scenes that really made me feel like "nutrek" IS Star Trek
I always found Star Trek to be the optimistic why that humans may turn out not the self serving selfish way we are

Hope…..
This is the rebuilding of a fallen federation.
Peak Star Trek despite the many faults of this series, well done Discovery
The Federation and Starfleet will always encompass the hope of all humanity.
Have to admit, well done here

Well I agree that a melody change would be nice, I would say shifting to the UFP anthem would be nice
Adil hussain sir ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Who is cutting onions in here?
Love From Assam Adil Hussain
Don't like most of the series, but boy, do they have some great scenes in season 3
She should have badged him.
Better than the entire season 1 of star trek picard 😉😉😉😉😉👍👍👍👍👍👋
Stephanie Turmel, I know. I'm not feeling Picard yet. But I'll ALWAYS love JL, so I watch.
Shouldn't that be a Starfleet Officer...

Ok, I never saw these movies. But omg it’s sickening how much emo is in these scenes. It’s emotion not Star Trek business
You sound like the sort of person who would have yelled "YES WE KNOW HE'S GONNA DIE, MOVE IT ALONG ALREADY" at the end of Wrath of Khan. 😞
@@gregx5096 that had good acting . Lol
