The rug advice and the circumference of the chandelier were helpful tips. One note about lighting: candle light or 'warm light' is actually what the human eye/body would benefit from in the bedroom. White/blue-focused light is detrimental to end-of-day biochemistry. It disrupts production of melatonin and increases cortisol which poses an issue for sleep.

Hahhah your mirror comment is so spot on! The person who owned our house before us put a floor to ceiling mirror across an entire wall in the bedroom. To get rid of it we have to destroy the wall. It is so awful lol. Also my cat likes to stand on me in the middle of the night to admire herself
I don’t have one mirror in my bedroom area only dressing area. And I do agree, they zap energy from the space I prefer items that make me feel relaxed and serve a purpose.
They didn’t like reading by candlelight, so they invented electricity. 🤣🤣🤣 Jokes aside, excellent tips, Kiva! Agree with you on family pics in the bedroom. I find that framed family photos on the wall also seem a bit funereal and should be reserved for our deceased loved ones. Photos of the living seem better placed on tables, consoles, and other flat tops. I know most won’t agree with this; it’s just a quirk of mine.
Thank you for this. My dresser has a large mirror and I want a floor mirror but didn't want too many. I didn't think of removing the mirror. That's a great idea!
I love this! I am also anti family photos because why would I want to look at my dad or great grandparents in any intimate space in my home…no just no lol.
*Dressing the Bed* . I like the look of a tailored bed skirt, however, being single and having a dog, they seem to get messed upped and grungy quickly. I use a coordinating fitted sheet to cover my box spring. For the end of the bed, in warmer months, a table runner can look lovely for a bit more pizazz. I also prefer to use a twin size quilt layered a the foot of the bed instead of a throw.
They also sell stretchy bands that are designed to cover the box spring (without having to go all the way under the mattress). I bought one because the mattress is unpleasantly heavy. I also have ended up with bed skirts grungy and covered with dog hair.
Additional tip for the "nesting" not only should you nest your art you should nest your tv above the console. My design pet peeve is seeing a tv hanging way too high:)
😂😂 Add a quilt, add a throw, let's live on the edge 😂 You know, I've never thought about it...but you're right. I don't need that mirror above my dresser. I have a huge mirror in my bathroom. It's gone baby. Great video! Thanks
I agree no mirrors in the bedroom, as long as you have room somewhere else like the bathroom for a nice mirror. I have to disagree on the family photos though. I love being surrounded by pictures of my family; however, I think my guests would be more interested in seeing beautiful artwork rather than pictures of my family. I can't imagine putting family photos in the dining room. With these photos in the bedroom, unlike some other commenters here, I don't feel "watched" at all or get any bad vibes. I'm surrounded by beautiful memories of times with my family. I love it.

I just had to laugh when you said something about waking up in the middle of the night and seeing yourself in the mirror and thinking someone had broken in! I’m a USMC Veteran who sleeps with her gun by her bed, that would be a VERY BAD thing, and imagine trying to explain the damage to my landlord! 😂
Unpopular opinion: I firmly believe in RUNNERS by the side of the bed. Can be used in conjunction with a rug oriented the wrong way because it's too small. Runners are easier to buy, easier to clean and easier to move, but can look great and keep your feet warm when you get out of bed.
One time I stayed at my ex-boyfriend’s brother and sister-in-law’s house while my boyfriend was house sitting/cat sitting and they had a giant framed photo in their bedroom of topless sister-in-law posing in a field displaying her large Angel wing back tattoo and I was very uncomfortable. I agree with the “no family photos in the bedroom” rule! 😂
I’m confused by your art-hanging rules. Today it’s Nested/ 2-4 inches above furniture, last week it was eye-level/57 inches above the floor, and last month it was size should be 2/3 of the available wall width etc. These can be very different locations/dimensions!

When we moved, the mirror that came with our dresser didn’t come. I told my husband I didn’t want it. So I have a small round mirror in my bedroom. Mine is on the wall next to the window. I have an antique cedar chest at the end of my bed. And right now it’s full of my clothes. But I do have a Casaluna blanket at the end of my bed. I should take the course. But I want to change stuff around in my bedroom. I have to measure my furniture first. Then maybe I can put curtains on my bedroom window. I’m not putting a rug in my bedroom. My dogs would just pee on it. Plus, we have carpet. And I know my husband isn’t going to go for a rug over carpet. He won’t get it. I would love a chandelier or any other light. We have boob lights. I read in bed on my e reader. And it doesn’t bother my husband.
You want to know my biggest issue with my bedroom? Charging cables 😂 I'm still in the beginning phase of not even just decorating but furnishing my apartment, so I've been using a plastic tote as my bedside table, lol. But I use earbuds a lot, especially in bed. While I have USB chargers on either side of my couch, I've slapped a power extension brick on my bedside "table" to plug my fan, phone charger, and USB charger for my earbuds. So! Anyone else who also uses such tech have any ideas on how to make it look nicer than just lazily putting the extension brick in full view? I know I'll need longer cords, for one. Hm, maybe some cable management holders as well? And a wireless charging dock for my phone (it's Android and I wonder if it would charge it through my phoke case).
I put a small hole on the back of my bedside tables and thread the cord of a charging block through it to the wall socket. The block with the usb ports can’t fit through the hole so it stays put in the table drawer with all my cords and stuff.
@@amyholland6924 I like the idea of putting a small hole in the back, like with a TV stand. Hopefully the tables I have picked out already come with one so I don't have to cut it myself, lol. But that's a great idea, just getting it off the table top entirely, thank you!
