How can I sleep tonight 🙄😀 with all the ideas I have in my mind.. Wonderful and effective tool 😍 thank you for this! I'm very happy and take time to practice
Thank you for introducing me to techniques other than bottled resist which I have the worst time with. I am forwarding this to my watercolor teacher at our local senior center to show the class. Meanwhile,, I am going to experiment.
I was wondering about this. I remember in elementary art class we would draw with crayon and then wash with watercolor. I was thinking about applying wax or vaseline to a watercolor's image and then doing a wash for background effect. I appreciate your examples. They save me my own trial and failures.
Dorland wax used as a resist- I have never thought of nor used, but I think I will buy some and try it out on various paintings! I love to find new tools. Anytime I find something new to use on my paintings is a good day!
This is definitely a great video full of wonderful techniques for a variety of different affects. I am going to try all the various ways to make sparkling water & waves in my next painting. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Hi Michele, yet again you come through with such an interesting and helpful video. I remember when I first joined your FB group trying wax resist to produce highlights in water. At that time I believe I wasn't applying the wax correctly, so didn't get the results I was trying for. However, not only do I want to try this again, but all of the techniques you have demonstrated in your video. I particularly liked the Dorlands wax used with the leaves. This is so interesting, and would definitely look great in the background of a painting... so fascinating. Thank you so much for your amazing tutorials, and continued support. Take care and best wishes always. Aud ❤️
Thank you Michele. I really loved the Dorlands wax with leaves. As a complete beginner artist (can I call myself that yet?) I have not seen any of these techniques before. I am avidly watching all your videos and will be joining your group. Thanks again 🙏
The two for me Michele were the oil pastels and the Dorlands wax. I inherited three boxes of wax crayons and they have idled on a shelf - no longer! Thank you for these great techniques.
The Dorland's wax and leaves is my favorite, but they are all good techniques. The ocean spray was also quite nice. Thanks for sharing. And BTW, I enjoy the cats!
Michele, this was a really helpful tutorial. I especially loved the Dorland's wax used on the leaves. I've a painting I've had in my head and wasn't sure how to pull it off and this technique will be just what I needed. Thanks for sharing your time and talent. Blessings from across the pond.
Loved this video. Yes more with Dorland's please. I bought a jar a few months ago and haven't used it much. Can you show a painting on top of the dorland resist you did type of thing? Or several techniques with it.
Yet another superb training video that shows so well your 20 years experience, which I have close to as well. If I had my way, having taken up WC , Oils (3 years a go) and now Mixed Media and the 'head shaking' disbelief of how bad so many wannabe Art tutors on here are, they would have to watch YOUR TH-cams before going live to the public and have someone as good as you, to approve them before doing so. Recently due to finding I seem to have a talent for semi abstract landscape painting purchased a very good Mixed Media artist tutorial video whose style I really like and believe I may do well in. He uses a fair bit of WC and Oil Pastel that really gives some fantastic surfaces but unlike you, rushes the application of how to do so. So thank Michelle, so much for this video plus you reminded me of candle technique as well.
Ah, thank you! I have no idea what other teachers are doing on TH-cam, I rarely watch their videos, I kind of don't want to be influenced by anyone else, or worried I am doing youtube the wrong way, so I just do my thing and put it out there!
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber I certainly see the wisdom in your thinking. I also have greatly benefited in you doing so as today making use of some of my Paul Rubens Oils Pastels and WC Yellow Ochre & Quin Gold paints for the resist technique, created a really impressive professional looking beach which unlike me, I was well chuffed with.
It would be nice to be able to find wax pencils, such a cool medium! Dorlands wax , never heard of it , want to learn more about that. Wonderful demonstration for oil pastels . You are so clever!
Hi Kathy, Blick's carries wax resist crayons (that you can sharpen) by Susan Scheewe Wax Resist Sticks, under $5.00 US dollars for 4 . Always on backorder tho. I was wondering if Prisma colored pencil blender would work, all the blender is to my knowledge is a colorless pencil and those pencils are sooo waxy, I might give 'em a try. I love learning new things :-) Peace.

Hello, Michelle - another delightful video. I'm letting you know, "Yes, please" to Dorland's Wax video tutorial. I'd like to see it used in other projects. Would this wax work on a mostly smooth surface? For example, I have various small gemstones in interesting, rounded shapes. I think this wax resist technique, combined with various gemstone shapes could be interesting. I'm just not sure if the wax would work well on a surface much smoother than the leaves you demonstrated. Also, would you apply more wax to get a stronger relief image? Thanks for all you do to help me improve my art. 😁
I can't see why it wouldn't work with gemstones. Give it a try :-) No to the second bit, you want to look at my video on masking fluid printing. It's linked at the end of the Wax Resist video and on the pinned comment. You're very welcome! :-)
